elfgrandfather: catmilks: that thursday feeling. reading depressioncomix inspired me to do a little comic about my own day-to-day experience. I’ve seen some comments on this being like “Oh he’s way too active this isn’t how severe clinical depression works!” which makes me a little sad because implying everyone’s experience of depression must be just like yours is insulting. This comic is about how depression still deeply affects me despite my attempts at a normal life but that it becomes almost mundane, you take a break to cry and scream and feel sorry for yourself but then you have to go back to doing whatever. I have almost no energy but I gotta live. Saying you need to constantly be at your lowest and most dysfunctional in order to have Real Clinical Depression isn’t realistic. Learning to cope with this illness that will likely haunt me my whole life isn’t a bad thing. : SEVERE CLINICAL DEPRESSION 1) HUTTH catmilks.tumblr.com ivos.space elfgrandfather: catmilks: that thursday feeling. reading depressioncomix inspired me to do a little comic about my own day-to-day experience. zelda-fitz-gives-no-shits: ambris: As someone who has dealt with depression for years, I can confirm this is incredibly good advice. just so you know, daniel harmon is an autistic writer, producer, and voice actor. it’s incredibly important that we don’t erase autistic creators; all of this is also important, but erasure is a huge problem and it’s so so vital for autistic kids to see (mentally ill and multifaceted) autistic adult creators and know that’s what they can grow up to be. : Girl Asks Rick And Morty's Co- Author How To Cope With Depression, Does Not Expect His Response Daniel Harmon is an American writer, producer, voice actor, and all-around cool guy He's the creator of popular show Rick and Morty A fan on Twitter recently asked him a personal, but important question... charming taint man @chojuroh @danharmon do you have advice for dealing with depression 6:04 AM - Nov 28, 2017 And he came back with the best possible response Dan Harmon @danharmon Replying to @chojuroh For One: Admit and accept that it's happening Awareness is everything. We put ourselves under so much pressure to feel good. It's okay to feel bad. It might be something you're good at! Communicate it. DO NOT KEEP IT SECRET. Own it. Like a hat or jacket. Your feelings are real 7:08 AM - Nov 28, 2017 Dan Harmon @danharmon Replying to danharmon@chojuroh Two: try to remind yourself, over and over, that feelings are real but they aren't reality. Example you can feel like life means nothing. True feeling Important feeling. TRUE that you feel it, BUT...whether life has meaning? Not up to us. Facts and feelings: equal but different 7:12 AM - Nov 28, 2017 Dan Harmon @danharmon Replying to @chojuroh The most important thing I can say to you is please don't deal with it alone. There is an incredible, miraculous magic to pushing your feelings out. Even writing "I want to die" on a piece of paper and burning it will feel better than thinking about it alone. Output is magical 7:14 AM - Nov 28, 2017 Dan Harmon @danharmon Replying to @danharmon @chojuroh Dark thoughts will echo off the walls of your skull they will distort and magnify. When you open your mouth (or an anonymous journal or blog or sketchpad), these thoughts go out. They'll be back but you gotta get em OUT Vent them. Tap them. I know you don't want to but try it 7:17 AM - Nov 28, 2017 It pretty much left us all 'kinda star struck rn' charming taint man @chojurolh Replying to @danharmon sorry I'm kinda star struck rn so I'm having a hard time articulating anything other than thank you so goddamn much for all of this. Probably better than my therapist could've said it. (And my boyfriend "TELL HIM THANK YOU AND THAT WE SUBSCRIBE TO HARMONTOWN") 7:22 AM - Nov 28, 2017 zelda-fitz-gives-no-shits: ambris: As someone who has dealt with depression for years, I can confirm this is incredibly good advice. just so you know, daniel harmon is an autistic writer, producer, and voice actor. it’s incredibly important that we don’t erase autistic creators; all of this is also important, but erasure is a huge problem and it’s so so vital for autistic kids to see (mentally ill and multifaceted) autistic adult creators and know that’s what they can grow up to be.

id love a plot like that: ugly fuckthekxng gokishi man you know what I want? a superhero series where they have powers that 1 00% contradict their personalities. a fishermans daughter who lives by the sea, swims every day, learns that she can control fire. a boy who's mortified of heights but realizes he can use antigravity and hates it. someone who was bitten by a dog as a child, suffers extreme fear around animals, can now communicate with them. they're all disgusted by their powers. uss-assbutt yes good but what about the character development as they learn to cope with their powers and overcome their fears the pyrokinetic swimmer wading out into the ocean armed with waterproof matches to practice so nothing goes wrong, building her confidence with the sea as her safety net, being so proud when she figures out how to heat the air just enough that she dries off instantly after swimming the boy slowly overcoming his fear of heights, realizing that he can catch himself if he ever falls, standing swaying on top of playground sets and closing his eyes as he tries to safely hover down (and not fall on his face again) the girl's terror lessening as the previously terrifying cacophony of the dogs at the park turns into a chorus of "ball! ball! throw me the ball!" "it's me! I'm the good boy!" and "squir- re!!" and learning to communicate back, have them listen to her, learning how to calm down a dog who's overexcited to the point of biting, discovering that the scary dog down the street is just home alone a lot and lonely, staring her fear in the face and learning its secrets because being disgusted with their powers is interesting, but I want to see people learning to love even the scary and contradictory parts of themselves Source: gokishi 488,193 notes id love a plot like that

I’ve seen some comments on this being like “Oh he’s way too active this isn’t how severe clinical depression works!” which makes me a little sad because implying everyone’s experience of depression must be just like yours is insulting. This comic is about how depression still deeply affects me despite my attempts at a normal life but that it becomes almost mundane, you take a break to cry and scream and feel sorry for yourself but then you have to go back to doing whatever. mysharona1987: A man talks about his sick baby. Cries constantly. It’s an uncomfortable video to watch at times. It really is.  A little too raw and emotional for live TV.
