Community, Drugs, and Memes: San Francisco Planning to Wipe Out and Reduce Thousands of Marijuana-Related Cases @balleralert ICE LIO NO San Francisco Planning to Wipe Out and Reduce Thousands of Marijuana-Related Cases - blogged by: @ashleytearra ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, after California’s latest weed legalization laws, the city’s prosecutors are aiming to eradicate or reduce thousands of marijuana-related cases that date back as far as 1975. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Reportedly, Proposition 64 will be applied to nearly 5,000 felony convictions and over 3,000 misdemeanors. While majority of the felonies for cannabis usage will be reviewed, recalled, and prepped for resentencing, the misdemeanors will be dismissed, said District Attorney George Gascón. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Proposition 64-also known as the Adult Use of Marijuana act, legalized the recreational use of marijuana in the state of California, and it also permitted those convicted of associated charges to petition the courts to throw out or reduce their penalties. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, due to the lengthy process of filing a petition, Gascón says that they are currently executing a plan to wipe out and decrease a mass of cases that haven’t even been petitioned. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "What we want to make sure is… that people who were really the victims of the war on drugs-in general terms, and are people who are trying to get their lives in the right direction, that they get relief they deserve," Gascón expressed. "We have damaged a lot of people in our community."

Aside from providing White with drugs, Carrey was accused of giving the woman herpes. According to the Hollywood Reporter, a rep for the actor confirmed the case was dismissed on Jan. 25, but refused to further comment on the matter.

Drugs, Memes, and Music: The Black Eyed Peas Say Music Today Does Not Address Important lssues @balleralert The Black Eyed Peas Say Music Today Does Not Address Important Issues- Blogged By @tktrinidad ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It has been eight years since TheBlackEyedPeas released an album, but now they’re back with a new single called “Street Livin’” which focuses on social justice and change. The Black Eyed Peas have been very vocal in saying that music of today needs a message, especially with topics like racism and sexism being at the forefront. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ During an interview with Variety, the group talked about sexism in the music industry and how music currently lacks a sense of activism, especially surrounding the MeToo movement. Will.i.am said, “Music is probably … it does a really good job at diminishing the power of a woman. And that’s really sad. Especially Hip Hop, rock — sex, drugs and rock and roll. A woman is a resource in that sentence. It’s sad.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Taboo then went on to say that music doesn’t have a call to action anymore. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “It’s sad that, in this day and age of music, we don’t have a huge support for activism as we used to.In the ’60s, everybody was trying to make a statement with their music. It seems like more athletes are making a statement, standing up for causes, than actually in the music industry.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What are your thoughts?
