Adele, Beautiful, and Beyonce: Carlos Santana Says Adele Won Over Beyoncé Because She Can "Sing, Sing" Caballerale Carlos Santana Says Adele Won Over Beyoncé Because She Can "Sing, Sing" -blogged by @BenitaShae ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For CarlosSantana, Adele winning Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammy's came as no surprise. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I think that Adele won because she can sing, sing," Santana told AP. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "With all respect to our sister Beyonce, Beyonce is very beautiful to look at and it's more like modeling kind of music - music to model a dress - she's not a singer, singer, with all respect to her," he said. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Beyoncé's ethereal set for "Love Drought" and "Sandcastles" was filled with flowers galore and a host of dancers emphasizing the importance motherhood and women. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Santana believes Adele excels because when she performs it's just her and a microphone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Adele can sing, sing. She doesn't bring all the dancers and props, she can just stand there and she just stood there and sang the song and that's it, and this is why she wins," Santana said. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you agree with Carlos Santana?

College, Finance, and Memes: First Ever Real Bank opens on High School Campus to Teach Students Financial Literacy Managing finances is not a course that is taught on many campuses, but it's important for all students to learn. Once students graduate from college, they need to make smart choices about their money if they want to become financially secure. One school in Durham, North Carolina decided that the best way for students to learn about finances is to open a bank on campus. A bank on campus? Hillside High School in Durham, North Carolina, recently opened a real, functioning bank branch on the school campus. Working with Woodforest National Bank, the school wanted to reach students while they were still in high school and teach them important skills in financing. It's a real bank that students, staff, and families can use to open accounts, make deposits, and take care of their banking needs. In addition to a manager and a sales representative, the bank hires students an interns and as bank staff employees. Hillside’s Business and Finance Academy offers finance classes that teaches students good money management skills. The student-run bank training center offers an even greater opportunity for students to increase their financial literacy by putting their finance knowledge into practice. Bank opening well received This is the first branch that the bank has opened at a high school, according to the bank’s senior vice president, Jessica Valentine. The initiative was supported and applauded by State Treasurer Janet Cowell, who stated, "I’m looking forward to traveling the state to emphasize the importance of building better money management life skills and saving practices that will benefit North Carolinians from early childhood through retirement." 17thsoulja BlackIG17th blackexcellenceineducation📚

Calvin Klein, Fashion, and Kendall Jenner: CHANEL Model Recreates Major Fashion Ads, Skewers The Industry's Diversity Problem GUESS VIC RI 5/RAFFAEL DICK REUTER When JasmineTookes modeled the coveted “fantasy bra” at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Monday, it marked only the third time in the show’s 21-year run that a woman of color was chosen to make the brand’s ultimate fashion statement. That disparity reflects a pattern rampant in high fashion, where diversity is on the rise but startlingly far from the norm. The lack of representation in prominent fashion advertisements prompted Liberian-born, L.A.-based model DeddehHoward to take matters into her own hands.Howard’s aptly titled “Black Mirror” photo series captured her recreating some of fashion’s most iconic advertisements, replacing the likes of Michelle Williams for Louis Vuitton, Kendall Jenner for Calvin Klein and Candice Swanepoel for Victoria’s Secret. The project, which Howard told the Huffington Post took about three months from concept to completion, aims “to show the world what diversity is capable of.” Howard further explained on her website that she used the images to present her race in a more positive light than what is typically put forth by the media. “In a time where black people too often are in the media for being underrepresented at important events such as the Oscars, or make headlines for being targeted by the police, I felt it was time to do something positive and inspiring about my race,” she said. Howard said that while researching for the shoot, she and photographer Raffael Dickreuter were shocked to realize how many brands “truly never or almost never use black models.” Howard has firsthand experience with the struggle to diversify the industry. She said she’s been turned away from modeling agencies who told her they “already have a black model.” Calling this experience “bizarre,” she used the shoot to help emphasize the reality of the world we live in. “We live in a globalized world with nowadays many interracial couples producing mixed babies. Why can’t the big brands not embrace our diversity more and give all of us visibility?” she said. While she says she wasn’t prepared for “the big wave of response” to the project, which has garnered a slew of positive feedback 17thsoulja

Kitties, Memes, and Taken: We will miss Mojo 2008-10129204 Today is National Cat Day. 😺 . It's also a bitter sweet day because exactly 2 years ago today our beloved Mojo was taken from us suddenly due to cardiomyopathy. He was only 6. 😿❤️. In his memory and in honor of National Cat Day, we'd like to emphasize the importance of taking action the minute you notice odd behavior from your pets. They are so tough and good at hiding pain, by the time they show symptoms it's often too late with some of these diseases and illnesses. This was the case with Mojo. Playing that morning, labored breathing that night with an enlarged heart and fluid throughout his chest. He peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge but left a hole in our hearts as we really didn't think we wouldn't be bringing him home that night. 😿 🌈. We almost lost Venus in 2013 from a urinary tract infection turned full blockage, (blockage almost unheard of in females). The only "off" thing we noticed was one of the 3 cats was peeing in random places but we thought it was behavioral because of foster kittens in the house. Learning from experience, if we could go back in time we would have taken all 3 in to be checked. We assumed it was territorial marking & we were wrong! Never assume, always get them checked. We were fortunate that we found her when we did & her vet saved her life after 4 days in the hospital. 🙏 This mentality was helpful with Halo just recently who had a watery eye that she was squinting. We didn't waste time even though we could've assumed it was just an allergy or something that got in her eye. We got her to the vet the same day. It turned out to be glaucoma & was causing her excruciating pain though she was hiding it well. In honor and memory of Mojo we wanted to share these stories with you on nationalcatday in the hopes that it will spread awareness, saving you and your furbaby an emotional and painful experience that might be avoidable if you know how serious the slightest-mildest looking symptom can be. Their stories are detailed on past posts. Halo's is 9-2016, Mojo 10-2014, and Venus 10-2013 Give your kitties an extra treat and extra chin scratches today. 😽 missyoumojo twoyearsgone foreverinourhearts knowthesigns nationalcatday
