Let me just come back in defense of Kevin. If Kevin was so smart, he must have known that calling the police would cause his family to get in trouble for leaving him alone at the house. Given Kevin’s other actions in the movie, such as pretending that he was shopping for his mom who was in the car, it seems pretty evident that he took pains to keep adults, even responsible ones, from knowing that he was alone in the house. This shows a distrust of the establishment, and it’s possible that Kevin was even aware (as I was at the age of 8) of the general concept of a CPS investigation. By refusing to call the police, Kevin was acting selflessly to keep his family from being split further. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

A couple of bandits come to rob some poor eight-year-old’s home and you call him a sadist for taking direct action. If some mofos came and invaded the safety of MY domicile you bet your sweet ass I’d concoct the most brutal means of retaliation imaginable to ensure those bastards never set foot in another home ever again.

 Taking public transport for the first time in over two months, I made my way
 to the stop five minutes early. On my way there, I spotted my bus which
 also happened to be early (the chances ikr) and frantically waved for it to
 wait for me... which it did, up until I tried to board.
 I took a bit of time crossing the road because of some confused traffic and
 when I finally made it, the driver slammed the doors shut in my face and
 took off on me.
 "I am taking this bus!"
 Determined to catch the bus which rused me, seemingly on purpose, I took
 chase, but it quickly became evident that I could not outrun something that
 wasn't made of flesh and bone. Defeated, I crawled back to the bus stop
 and sat down, resigned to my fate of waiting another 45 minutes.
 Then, not one, but two cars (with people inside) pulled up and told me
 about how they'd seen my valiant effort and offered to chase that bus down
 for me. The first I politely declined, but the second man felt responsible for
 slowing me down at the crossing and insisted he take me to the hospital aft
 least as he was picking somebody up from there, anyhow.
 After bonding over a short drive with Mr. Wayne, he dropped me off at the
 medical center and left, presumably to fight crime. A few moments later, the
 same bus arrived at FMC.
 Taking no chances this time, I leapt on board (OK, OK... walked aboard)
 and stared the driver, who looked as though he'd seen a ghost, dead in the
 eye and calmly stated, "I am taking this bus."

like i only occasionally blog about politics, but i do very much believe capitalism must be destroyed and global international communism must be established, so like…. why is it confusing that i don’t want you following my blog.

You may “believe” that capitalism should be destroyed, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t the most successful economic model in human history, and has to led to the most successful civil societies in history. You may “believe” that international communism is “necessary”, but that such a system can’t compete with capitalism is historically evident, that it doesn’t work is well established, and that any citizen with even a half way decent life would reject any proposed decline in their standard of living, through violence, is obvious. I won’t fault you for holding these misguided beliefs as much as you fault me for my correct ones.
