yaboybergara: wearewatcher: WATCHER LOG 002:Shane here! With that January 10th launch around the corner, we’re gonna be sharing lil bits that we’ve been keeping secret for the past few months. So here’s a photo of Ryan on the day we bought our first few pieces of gear at a local camera shop. Minutes earlier when we actually checked out at the register we were both filled with a palpable mix of excitement and (completely unjustified) dread, as this was the moment we started spending actual money on a thing that had thus far existed exclusively in our three brains and in Steven’s weird graph paper notebooks that he loves so much. You’re likely thinking, “But Ryan doesn’t look nervous at all here!” And you’re right. Why? They gave us a free hat with the camera, that’s why. Worries evaporate when you get a free hat, and with a renewed sense of creative enthusiasm I asked Ryan to pose like a cinematographer showing off his sick new haul. He looks kinda gassy but otherwise, dude nailed it.Anyway, if you haven’t yet, swing by youtube.com/watcher (link in bio) and peep the channel trailer. And subscribe if you haven’t yet. No harm in that. If you already have? Hey, thanks. Uh, what else? Reduce, reuse, recycle. Don’t litter. Support your local library. Alright. Plenty left for us to do before launch, so it’s about time I hit the dusty trail. Til next time, Watchers! -Shane BONUS:: MEM A EOS canon Canon EOS yaboybergara: wearewatcher: WATCHER LOG 002:Shane here! death-limes: venipede: osteophagy: endcetaceanexploitation: Washoe was a chimp who was taught sign language. One of Washoe’s caretakers was pregnant and missed work for many weeks after she miscarried. Roger Fouts recounts the following situation: “People who should be there for her and aren’t are often given the cold shoulder—her way of informing them that she’s miffed at them. Washoe greeted Kat [the caretaker] in just this way when she finally returned to work with the chimps. Kat made her apologies to Washoe, then decided to tell her the truth, signing “MY BABY DIED.” Washoe stared at her, then looked down. She finally peered into Kat’s eyes again and carefully signed “CRY”, touching her cheek and drawing her finger down the path a tear would make on a human (Chimpanzees don’t shed tears). Kat later remarked that one sign told her more about Washoe and her mental capabilities than all her longer, grammatically perfect sentences.“ [23] Washoe herself lost two children; one baby died shortly after birth of a heart defect, the other baby, Sequoyah, died of a staph infection at two months of age. more about Washoe: after the death of her children, researchers were determined to have Washoe raise a baby and brought in a ten month chimpanzee named Loulis. one of the caretakers went to Washoe’s enclosure and signed “i have a baby for you.” Washoe became incredibly excited, yelling and swaying from side to side, signing “baby” over and over again. then she signed “my baby.” the caretaker came back with Loulis, and Washoe’s excitement disappeared entirely. she refused to pick Loulis up, instead signing “baby” apathetically; it was clear that the baby she thought she was getting was going to be Sequoyah. eventually Washoe did approach Loulis, and by the next day the two had bonded and from then on she was utterly devoted to him. *information shamelessly paraphrased from When Elephants Weep by Jeffrey Masson. Even more interestingly, after Washoe and Loulis bonded, she started teaching him American Sign Language the same way that human parents teach their children language. It only took Loulis eight days to learn his first sign from Washoe, and aside from the seven that his human handlers learned around him, he learned to speak in ASL just as fluently as Washoe and was able to communicate with humans in the same way she could. now if y'all don’t think this is the tightest shit you can get outta my face : did you know? did-you-kno.tumblr.com Michael the gorilla was taught sign language by Koko, the first signing gorilla. He began signing "Squash meat gorilla. Mouth tooth Cry sharp-noise loud. Bad think-trouble look- face. Cut/neck lip (girl) hole." Researchers believed this was a description of the poaching death of his mother. did-you-kno.tumblr.com didyouknowblog.com Cohen Gi n facebook.com/didyouknowblog death-limes: venipede: osteophagy: endcetaceanexploitation: Washoe was a chimp who was taught sign language. seagog: i’m going to take a moment to deviate from my usual posts, so bear with me: the actress starring in the 2020 Mulan remake, Liu Yifei, has just voiced her support for the Hong Kong police. these are the police who have been brutalizing protestors for several months now with batons, tear gas, and rubber bullets, and recently blinded a young medic in one eye. Liu has a social media platform of 65 million followers, and has been in the national spotlight since her casting - her words have influence and impact. her conscious decision to stand by the HK police sends a clear message: that violence against civilians is acceptable as a means of control, intimidation, and suppression. this breaks my heart. as a person of Chinese descent, Mulan’s character was a source of inspiration and empowerment throughout my childhood, and I’m sure I wasn’t alone in my excitement to see the remake, but I’m even more saddened and disgusted by Liu Yifei’s support of the police. note that Liu is a naturalized American citizen, and reaps the benefits of freedom and democracy in the US while supporting those who are fighting to silence it in China. if Mulan were real and here now, she would be out on the streets of Hong Kong, fighting for the fundamental rights of 7 million Hong Kong citizens. please, please, please consider boycotting this movie. skip it, pirate it, do what you need to do, but show that you won’t stand for police brutality. : JUPPORT HK PROTESTORS 'BOYCOTT MULAN seagog: i’m going to take a moment to deviate from my usual posts, so bear with me: the actress starring in the 2020 Mulan remake, Liu Yifei, has just voiced her support for the Hong Kong police. these are the police who have been brutalizing protestors for several months now with batons, tear gas, and rubber bullets, and recently blinded a young medic in one eye. outoftheframework: I know this is pretty low quality but I want to start a series of adding endgame scenes that are 100% fan service.Lmk what you think + what you want to see next :)Thanks!: enndgame added scene by meg OKOKYE Don't worry; she's got help. As Peter gapes in awe, a wide array of powerful female Avengers tower over him, ready to follow Carol into battle. As the women throw themselves at the opposing army with fierceness and poise, one figure stands back. Shuri jogs up to the boy, unable to hide her excitement despite the circumstances. SHURI You are the spiderboy! I've seen your videos on YouTube! She extends her arm to him but then quickly realizes there's blasters engulfing both her hands. He shyly waves her off and she settles to watching him slowly pick himself up. The teens' surrounding them world seems sheltered from the chaos PETER Y-yeah! And you're... well I don't know your name but you seem pretty cool- well not just cool you're obviously very accomplished and saying "cool" seems to diminish- Shuri CHUCKLES as she blasts an approaching monster from her right SHURI You can call me Shuri. I'm the Black Panther. Peter tilts his head. PETER I thought I met.., and you But... don't really seem- SHURI Well, I'm not the Black Panther, I just clothe, arm, educate, and generally make sure he doesn't die so an argument can be made that I, Shuri, princess of Wakanda, am more worthy of the title but- PETER Look out! Peter, sensing impending danger, pulls Shuri closer to him using his web shooters. Suddenly, Thor comes crashing down 2. in the spot where she was Peter as the god takes off again in a flash of lightning. just standing. Shuri turns to SHURI You know, those shooters are not nearly as efficient as be they could Peter looks flabbergasted. PETER (laughing) Ha, that' s funny. Actually, Mr Stark made these himself. SHURI Well, looks like Mr. has a few things to learn. Stark still Shuri tilts Peter's head to the side before shooting right through another monster SHURI (CONT'D) Come by my lab after this is all over and maybe one day you'll be even smarter than him. PETER (nervous) -Ha, I doubt that SHURI I don't. Shuri winks at Peter before disappearing into the ravenous crowd. Peter gapes as he watches her go. outoftheframework: I know this is pretty low quality but I want to start a series of adding endgame scenes that are 100% fan service.Lmk what you think + what you want to see next :)Thanks!
