Children, Love, and School: EmbraceRace Yesterday at 12:00 PM Because treating people fairly often means treating them differently Equality Equity calvstarose Because treating people fairly often means treating them differently aloneindarknes7 This is something that I teach my students during the first week of school and they understand it. Eight year olds can understand this and all it costs is a box of band-aids I have each students pretend they got hurt and need 30 I have each students pretend they got hurt and need a band-aid. Children love band-aids. I ask the first one where they are hurt. If he says his finger, I put the band- aid on his finger. Then I ask the second one where they are hurt. No matter what that child says, I put the band- aid on their finger exactly like the first child. I keep doing that through the whole class. No matter where they say their pretend injury is, Ido the same thing I did with the first one. After they all have band-aids in the same spot, I ask if that actually helped any of them other than the first child. I say, "Well, I helped all of you the same! You all have one band-aid!" And they'll try to get me to understand that they were hurt somewhere else. I act like l'm just now understanding it. Then I explain, "There might be moments this year where some of you get different things because you need them differently, just like you needed a band-aid in a different spot." If at any time any of my students ask why one student has a different assignment, or gets taken out of the class for a subject, or gets another teacher to come in and help them throughout the year, I remind my students of the band-aids they got at the start of the school year and they stop complaining. That's why eight year olds can understand equity Fuente: citizenshipandsocialjustice 30 Why is it hard to understand?

American Idol, Children, and Crazy: Jordin Sparks ls Married and Expecting Her First Child With Husband, Dana Isaiah @balleralert Read More: www.balleralert.com Jordin Sparks Is Married and Expecting Her First Child With Husband, Dana Isaiah - blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ JordinSparks is expecting! PEOPLE Magazine reports, that the American Idol winner is expecting her first child with now-husband Dana Isaiah, as the two secretly jumped the broom in mid-July. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The couple’s love story begins with a charity campaign in Houston during Super Bowl weekend. After first meeting Isaiah’s family in February, Isaiah’s mom contacted Sparks’ mom to summon her daughter’s help in convincing Isaiah to stay home, instead of moving out west to pursue modeling. The two moms put their children in a group chat and the rest is history. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to PEOPLE, the couple spoke every day for the next month until Isaiah flew out to L.A. over Easter weekend. That’s when the two finally met. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “A couple days after we had actually met, I was like in my head ‘That’s going to be my husband! That’s my husband right there,” Sparks said, revealing that they decided not to move in together until they were married. “When I’m with him, I feel comfort and safety and calm and peace, and those aren't things that I normally felt. So it was a little wake-up call for me.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The couple initially bonded over their shared Christian beliefs, and just months after officially meeting, they already knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The two eloped on July 16th while on vacation in Hawaii, PEOPLE reports. Just one month later, Sparks found out she was pregnant. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “It’s been really crazy because everything changes,” Sparks said. “Once we got over the initial shock of it, now again just ......to read the rest log on to BallerAlert.com (clickable link on profile)

Ass, Family, and Gym: Omari Hardwick and Lance Gross Open Up About Losing a Child @balleralert Omari Hardwick and Lance Gross Open Up About Losing a Child – blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Earlier this week, LanceGross turned his camera on “Power” star OmariHardwick to discuss the importance of keeping the mind, body and spirit in a positive space. The two touched on Hardwick’s daily rituals and routines, family and fatherhood. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to ESSENCE, the two then went on to discuss a more personal issue, and how protecting one’s well-being can also compromise one’s career. Gross opened up the discussion, asking Hardwick if there was ever a time that he had to choose between a job or a person and his own well-being, to which he responded with a story about the devastating experience of losing a child. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “The sixth year of my working career as an actor, we were pregnant with my first child,” Omari revealed. “Filming [the movie] ‘Dark Blue,’ lying to ‘Kick Ass’ so that I could do both – and dealing with the baby sliding and not doing well.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “The doctors let us know, you know, that if it were them, they would have aborted and we chose not to,” he continued. “So, just riding that out for months in terms of like, not wanting to go to work and even having somebody secure enough and strong enough at home to say, ‘No, you have to go to work.’ And then it came to a place where we lost the baby. Ironically, the day that we delivered the baby, I was forced to work.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “It was the first moment, to me, where I was –this was a moment of anger at the industry,” he said, prompting Gross to share his own experience with dealing with the traumatic experience while working. “We lost a child and I remember getting the call from my wife in the middle of a scene, and I got the call from her and it did something. I felt like I should have been there,” Gross said. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “We learn how many people share those stories but nobody talks about them,” Hardwick added of the experience. He stated that he keeps his sanity through his marriage, the gym and writing amid the craziness of the world and his career.

Beautiful, Doctor, and Friends: Allah's Messenger (*) said, "If Allah wants to do good to somebody, He afflicts him with trials." A very inspiring Story: must read BEAUTIFUL STORY MUST READ @islamleveryone A Man Named Rashed This is a true story about a man named Rashed. He tells his story as follows… I was not more than thirty years old when my wife gave birth to my first child. I still remember that night. I had stayed out all night long with my friends, as was my habit. It was a night filled with useless talk, and worse, with backbiting, gossiping, and making fun of people. I was mostly the one who made people laugh; I would mock others and my friends would laugh and laugh. I remember on that night that I’d made them laugh a lot. I had an amazing ability to imitate others – I could change the sound of my voice until I sounded exactly like the person I was mocking. No one was safe from my biting mockery, even my friends; some people started avoiding me just to be safe from my tongue. I remember on that night, I had made fun of a blind man who I’d seen begging in the market. What was worse, I had put my foot out in front him – he tripped and fell, and started turning his head around, not knowing what to say. I went back to my house, late as usual, and I found my wife waiting for me. She was in a terrible state, and said in a quivering voice, “Rashed… where were you?” “Where would I be, on Mars?” I said sarcastically, “With my friends of course.” She was visibly exhausted, and holding back tears, she said, “Rashed, I’m so tired. It seems the baby is going to come soon.” A silent tear fell on her cheek. I felt that I had neglected my wife. I should have taken care of her and not stayed out so much all those nights… especially since she was in her ninth month. I quickly took her to the hospital; she went into the delivery room, and suffered through long hours of pain. I waited patiently for her to give birth… but her delivery was difficult, and I waited a long time until I got tired. So I went home and left my phone number with the hospital so they could call with the good news. An hour later, they called me to congratulate me on the birth of Salem. I went to the hospital immediately. As soon as they saw me, they asked me to go see the doctor who had overlooked my wife’s delivery. “What doctor?” I cried out, “I just want to see my son Salem!” Continues 👇
