The conservative tribal leaders who the US armed funded ( who later became the Taliban) declared this to be a “war on Islam” fought against the central government. DEMOCRATIC NOMINEES ARE NOT CLAY PIGEONS But, Emily, whatever do you mean? What is this metaphor? It goes like this One by one, over the next couple of months, Democratic nominees are going to launch their official bids for President. They are going to launch themselves, one by one, into the sky, right into our line of vision Our job is not to shoot them. Our job is NOT, the second we see them cross the sky, to reach out for the gun being handed to us by conservatives (because duh, conservatives and guns) and take aim, and blast them, one by one out of the air, for not being absolutely perfect. Not likeable enough. BOOM Not an inspiring enough speaker. BOOM Said that awkward thing that one time. BOOM I wouldn't want to have a beer with them. BOOM Too old. BOOM. Too female. BOOM. Too white. BOOM Not a fucking flawless progressive superhero. BOOM Because what happens next? We shoot the candidates down. We degrade them. We belittle them. We smear them. Then we hand the gun to the media. They do the same. They hand the gun to the conservatives. They do the same. Then the bots start reloading. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM And then at the end of primary season, we have to pick up the shattered remains of whoever got the most votes and attempt to glue them back together into a candidate who can win the general election. And we will lose. Because we learned fucking NOTHING from 2016, apparently Trump didn't win because every conservative loves him. Most of them hate his fucking guts. But they held their noses and voted for him because he was the only way to push their agenda forward. And holy shit, have they pushed it. Despite his complete ineptitude, his bumbling, his gross incompetence, his blatant corruption, they have shoved through some really damaging policies that are hurting real people every single day, and they will continue to do so for as long as we let them So, here we are. You're not jazzed about Liz Warren? Awesome. Beto not your boy? Swell. Sick of Biden memes? Good for you, friend. Keep it to yourself. Why? Fight FOR them. Remember how we used to fight FOR things, rather than against them? I know Trump makes it hard to remember, but I promise, that's a thing we used to know how to do Then we all, collectively, wholeheartedly, throw our weight and energy and voice behind whoever gets the nomination. Repost @time: At first glance, the man on our July 30, 2018, cover might seem familiar: it was created by morphing images of two of the world’s most recognizable men, President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The composite image, by visual artist @nancyburson, is meant to represent this particular moment in U.S. foreign policy, following the pair’s recent meeting in Helsinki. As our senior White House correspondent Brian Bennett writes in this week’s cover story: “A year and a half into his presidency, Trump’s puzzling affinity for Putin has yet to be explained. Trump is bruised by the idea that Russian election meddling taints his victory, those close to him say, and can’t concede the fact that Russia did try to interfere in the election, regardless of whether it impacted the outcome. He views this problem entirely through a political lens, these people say, unable or unwilling to differentiate between the question of whether his campaign colluded with Russia—which he denies—and the question of whether Russia attempted to influence the election.” Burson, who became well known for developing a technique to age faces, which is used by the FBI to find missing children, says the goal of her latest composite is to help readers “stop and think” when it comes to similarities between the two leaders. “What my work has always been about is allowing people to see differently,” she tells TIME. “The combining of faces is a different way for people to see what they couldn’t see before.” Read this week's full cover story on TIME.com. What a majestic symbol.

Y'all know it’s just reacting like any bird of prey would and isn’t some manifestation of any political party’s will because it’s a bird?

No?

Kay.

That eagle was actually well-trained.

It attacked Trump not because “it’s a bird”. It attacked Trump because Trump couldn’t keep his arm level and made for an insecure platform. You have to keep your arm holding the bird very still or else they instinctively think “the branch is falling” and they try to fly off of it.

Which is why you hold large birds like this:

Elbow tucked in close to the body to support the weight.

Look in the first gif: the eagle was fine until Trump’s arm jerked downward because he couldn’t support the weight in that position. He pulled away and his arm started flailing in the second gif, which is when the bird started to peck at him.

Then when Trump made a move similar to that of trying to grab a gauntlet (3rd gif), the bird stopped him because he showed the bird he was bad at actually supporting it.

Trump didn’t know what to do, bungled it, and the bird was brooking none of his shit.

Because even a TRAINED BIRD is still a bird and will react like a bird does. Because it’s a bird. And animals react as animals to do, even trained animals to improper handling.

Bird.

I’m saying that the bird was entirely fine with people holding it, grabbing it, and was trained to be around people.

Unless the person has actively done something wrong to tell the bird that they can’t be trusted.

Which is exactly what happened.

It’s a literal gifset of Trump trying and failing almost immediately to live up to <strike>bird</strike>American standards.

So he doesn’t live up to American standards because he doesn’t know how to properly handle a large bird. Is what ya sayin to me. Because the bird behaves like a bird and he isn’t exactly versed in birds.

Okay.

I wanna die.

Sam Eagle doesn’t trust Trump’s foreign policy.

AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU

This post is all over the place because yes it’s a bird, but No it didn’t just randomly attack him simply because it’s a bird. 🔷End of an Error🔷 President Donald Trump’s announcement Tuesday that the U.S. is leaving the Iran deal marks the end of what his predecessor, Barack Obama, considered his main foreign policy legacy. Trump will earn credit from his supporters for keeping his promise. But in truth, the Iran deal was undone by its own terms. It did not stop Iran from enriching uranium; it did not stop Iran from building a nuclear weapon, eventually; and it did not stop Iran’s global aggression. In fact, the Iran deal was not even a deal at all. It was never signed by any of the parties (the U.S., Iran, France, the UK, Germany, China, and Russia). It was unclear about crucial subjects like ballistic missiles, because the “deal” was described differently by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and by the UN Security Council Resolutions that were meant to implement it. And, crucially, it was never sent to the U.S. Senate for ratification. Obama’s disregard for the Treaty Clause of the U.S. Constitution was of a piece with his general disregard for the constitutional constraints on the power of the federal government and the presidency. His refusal to submit the agreement to Senate scrutiny, and his party’s abuse of the filibuster to prevent even a weak Senate vote, deepened the damage that Obamacare — his other struggling “legacy,” in domestic policy — did to American civic culture. More than Obama’s autocratic style, what Trump ended is Obama’s legacy of appeasement. Barack Obama came to power convinced that the United States was at best a negative force in world affairs, and at worst the cause of the world’s problems. He believed that America could be a force for good, but only if it renounced its traditional allies, abandoned its principles of freedom, and gave up its national interests in favor of rising regional powers elsewhere. “The United States no longer issues empty threats. When I make promises, I keep them,” Trump said. Thus ended Obama’s experiment with appeasement and autocracy.: POLLAK: IN LEAVING IRAN DEAL, TRUMP ENDS OBAMA'S LEGACY OF APPEASEMENT OF THE Carsten Koall/Getty Images 🔷End of an Error🔷 President Donald Trump’s announcement Tuesday that the U.S. is leaving the Iran deal marks the end of what his predecessor, Barack Obama, considered his main foreign policy legacy. Steve Kerr Explains Why The Warriors Will Not Be Visiting Trump’s White House: “It’s a Human Respect Issue” - blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Just months before SteveKerr and the Golden State Warriors head to Washington, D.C. for what would have been the tradition championship trip to the White House, the team’s coach revealed the reason why the trip will only be in the city to face off against the Washington Wizards. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ During an interview with CNN’s David Axelrod, Kerr said the team would not be visiting Donald Trump’s White House after the Celebrity-in-chief rescinded StephCurry’s invitation.
