This is violence. Keep reading Ever notice how it’s never the time to talk about guns–even though NOBODY is immune to a bullet–but it’s always time to talk about abortions and new bills to stop them? They really should say they hate women and go. Fuckin idiots smh IT GETS WORSE: I propose a post-natal abortion for every fucker who voted for this bill. As a Georgian, this terrifies me. My husband and I are shocked. My friends are worried. But we can let Kemp know that we oppose this bill. https://gov.georgia.gov/contact-us Address:The Office of the GovernorState of Georgia203 State CapitolAtlanta, Georgia 30334 Mailing address:206 Washington StreetSuite 203, State CapitolAtlanta, GA 30334 Please, please let yourself be heard. Inform and organize others. We cannot change things by sitting around.  Everyone should be aware that this bill is already on the books in Ohio and other states. In Ohio it has no exceptions for rape or incest, either, irregardless of the victim’s age - there’s a rumor going around that there’s an 11-year-old in the northwest who’s legally unable to abort her pregnancy.

Apparently, Family, and Head: wwwoslightlywarped.com sixpenceee: The Witch of Joshua Ward House This Georgian and Federal style building was constructed by Joshua Ward, a wealthy merchant sea captain, in the late 1780s on the remaining foundations of former sheriff George Corwin’s house on Washington Street in Salem, Massachusetts. Corwin was a bloody figure whose zeal added to the unfortunate events surrounding Salem in the late 1600s. Nicknamed ‘The Strangler’ after his preferred torture (which included tying his prone victims’ necks to their ankles until the blood ran from their noses), he is said to have been responsible for many of the ‘witches’’ deaths, including that of Giles Corey who was crushed to death by placing heavy stones on his chest in order to extract a confession. Legend states that just before he died, Corey cursed the sheriff and all sheriffs that follow in his wake, for Corwin’s despicable acts. It should be noted here that every sheriff since Corey uttered his curse died while in office or had been “forced out of his post as the result of a heart or blood ailment.” Corwin himself died of a heart attack in 1696, only about four years after the end of the trials.  By the time of his death, Corwin was so despised that his family had to bury him in the cellar of their house to avoid desecration of the corpse by the public. In the early 1980s Carlson Realty bought the House with the intention of turning it into their headquarters. After moving in, a realtor by the name of Dale Lewinski began the task of taking photographs of the staff members to add to a welcome display.  Lewinski used a Polaroid camera to snap the head-and-shoulders, passport-style pictures. It was the photograph of a colleague by the name of Lorraine St. Peter that caused a stir. The Polaroid was developed and, instead of showing St. Peter, it appeared to depict a frightening image: a strange, black-haired, feminine figure. St. Peter was nowhere to be seen on the snap. The photograph has, apparently, not been cropped at all. St. Peter has been entirely replaced by the apparition.

Asian, Climbing, and College: ingu: marrymejasonsegel: I wrote a college paper once about gender dynamics in Disney films, and part dealt with the emphasis of androgyny in this film. Mulan is an outsider and unsure of her position of the world when she is adhering to both a total feminine role (the matchmaking scene) and a total masculine role (disguised as a male soldier) and it’s only when she’s able to embrace both sides that she is able to fully showcase her abilities and ultimately save the day.  The entire climax, from climbing the poles using sashes, counting on Shan Yu’s complete dismissal of women to get the Emperor to safety, to this scene where she literally uses a symbol of womanhood (within the movie at least) to disarm the villain of his symbol of masculinity and beat him at his own game, shows Mulan relying on the aspects of her femininity that she has grown up adhering to and adapting the tactical knowledge and fighting skills that she learned disguised as a male soldier to those aspects. The result is a unique and innovative view of the world and her course of action that leads her to save the day when the male soldiers failed and the women wouldn’t even have been allowed to try.  This commentary is so curious to me because it’s such an excellent example of white/western cultural bias in portrayals of other cultures. Because fans by themselves are a gender neutral object in Ancient China, especially the large type that Mulan uses in this particular scene is actually masculine if you must code it historically, and in Chinese hands would be used as a tool to support her masculinity and not the other way around. These paper fans are used in general by (male) scholars and artists who decorate its surface with art and calligraphy. It is a symbol of (masculine) intellectual power and the intellectual elite. And if you look to Asian martial arts films, they are a common and almost exclusive weapon of men. Yet the movie takes this deeply cultural object and either willingly or ignorantly makes it an object of womanhood or femininity. To the extent of my knowledge, this is mostly reflective of western social history. And draws from the coquettish ways Georgian? Ladies would use the fan to signal their romantic interest and all the history and influence around it. The equivalent object for the Chinese lady would in fact be the handkerchief, or a hairstick if you want something pointy. And it’s all the more curious because at the end of the day it’s a western depiction of a foreign story made for western consumption. It is not a story made by and for Chinese little girls, but to empower and inspire those in the West. Which provides the context for the above (excellent) analysis. It does not need to fully take Chinese history into context because it was never made for us, despite being explicitly about us.

Journey, Tumblr, and Blog: New Historical Drama Just 90 Minutes Of Woman Holding Up Petticoats While Running Through Open Field triss19: theonion: LONDON—An early review confirmed Wednesday that upcoming historical drama The Sisters Of Darington Manor was just 90 minutes of a woman holding up her petticoats while scampering through an open field. “After the opening credits roll, it’s really just an hour and a half of a woman in a silk gown grabbing the hems of her petticoat while she hurries along a windswept plain,” said The Independent reviewer Christina Gordon, confirming that the costume drama—which offers no discernible dialogue and could take place at any point in history between the Georgian and Victorian eras—features a striking string soundtrack that swells to accentuate the woman’s progress across what appears to be either the English heath or possibly the Scottish moorland. “About midway through the movie, there’s this 45-minute unbroken shot of her rushing in front of a misty hillside. Then she mounts a horse at one point and rides it for a few minutes, which was nice. But then she just gets off, hitches up her petticoat, and starts hurrying across the plain again.” While criticizing the film’s lackluster narrative, Gordon praised the “breathtaking finale,” in which the woman completes her 90-minute journey by rushing directly into the embrace of a troubled-looking but handsome man in a brown frock coat and cravat. I’d watch it.

href="http://www.reddit.com/r/TumblrInAction/wiki/satiretumblrs#wiki_vegetable.28igh.29s.21">the blog it originated from was a troll blog to begin with</a>.<br/><br/>People have a right to be wary of the claims of women, just as much as they have a right to be wary of the claims of ANYONE, <em>regardless</em> of gender.  It has nothing to do with “sexism” or “misogyny”, as much as the fact that being a woman (as designated at birth, or otherwise) is <em>not</em> an excuse for facing the consequences of one’s actions, nor an excuse to avoid VALIDATING ONE’S CLAIMS.  And, as a woman, I’m frankly not at all happy about people having to BE more wary of women these days, simply because some women have decided to abuse the term of “feminism” as a vehicle through which to demand unnecessary changes on the grounds of little more than glorified fear mongering and propaganda.<br/><br/></li> <li><strong>As cruel as this may sound, you have <em>zero</em> jurisdiction over what other people are “allowed” to joke or talk about. </strong> Yes, you can tell someone to stop, but <em>that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen</em>.  One of these days, you’re going to have to learn to ignore things that bother you, or simply remove yourself from that situation, because <strong>real life does not have an “ignore” feature</strong>.  The best thing you can do for yourself is to just get up, and walk away.  You leave what is bothering you behind you, and hopefully, that may also get the message across that you don’t wish to hear what they’re saying.<br/><br/>If we tried to sanitize the world of everything that someone, somewhere, deemed “offensive”, or anything that made them “uncomfortable”, there would likely be no world left to live in.  There are even people in this world genuinely afraid of the depth marker lines painted on the bottom of swimming pools.  I get weirded out if I have to drink out of a clear glass with images on the outside that can be seen from the inside, even though I’m fully aware of how incredibly <em>stupid</em> that is (perhaps megalohydrothalassophobia is partly to blame).   I’m incredibly uncomfortable around large dogs, but you don’t see me going around screaming at dog owners to put their pets to sleep, nor demanding that printed drinking glasses should no longer be manufactured.  <strong>What happened to you is a travesty that cannot be undone, but you must understand that you share this earth with over 7 billion other human beings, and they are all different than you.</strong>  This includes people that use humor as a coping mechanism, in order to alleviate the fear they have.  If you can joke about something, you strip it of the power to control you, and determine how you live your life.</li> </ol><p>Bad things happen, and they often happen to good people.  Hell, my older sister literally exists BECAUSE of rape.  However, we simply cannot be trying to determine how other human beings are able to express themselves.  Hurt feelings are not justification for such censorship.  <strong>Our rights do NOT end where your feelings begin.</strong>  <strong>Constitutional rights exist BECAUSE of feelings.  Rights exist in order to keep feelings from interfering with life, liberty, and LAW.</strong></p> <p><strong>When we see people say things such as “Your rights end where my feelings begin”, it is the first step towards going back to a time where people could be put to death simply because their neighbor accused them of witchcraft.</strong></p> </blockquote> <p>What’s the betting that whenever she hears people on SVU/CSI type programmes try to bully suspects into confessing or gloat at those found guilty by teasing them about their future cell-mate “Bubba” and tell him to keep his back to the wall, don’t drop the soap etc she either laughs or doesn’t even notice? Because the brutal rapes of men that account for more than half the victims, are so accepted, genuinely encouraged, and ignored by the prison system that practically no but the victims would be sensitive to it. Worst of all, those in for petty/victimless crimes (such as smoking a joint for pain relief) and the falsely accused make up a disproportionate number of victims since they’d be the least prepared for a violent environment, so it’s likely they did nothing that anyone could use to justify their trauma.</p> <p>Are people just supposed to know when someone’s interested? Or is she advocating that only women be allowed to make the first move? Given where the feminist lobby is going, they’ll only be the only ones allowed to make any moves at all, basically the equivalent of legally requiring men do the starfish. And if no one is allowed to ask anyone out for fear of “triggering” them and silent cues are rape, how the hell are relationships supposed to work?</p> <p>It makes sense to want to know why something is supposedly offensive or wrong, that way they can correct it, classic human behaviour to learn and adapt. If they can’t even be arsed telling people why they should stop, they’ll have no reason to and so, unless they are prepared to stop doing doing everything that someone says they don’t like up to and including breathing, will continue doing it. I can extrapolate from this that they don’t want it to stop.</p> <p>My sister and I both exist because of rape as well, mother had a thing for unconscious men and used people’s apathy towards male victims to brag about it without censure.</p></blockquote>
