THE DIARY OF A YOUNG GIRI 142 I already had these kinds of feelings subconsciously before I came here, because I remember that once when I slept with girl friend I had a strong desire to kiss her, and that I did so. I could not help being terribly inquisitive about her, for had always kept it hidden from me. I asked her whether, as a proof of our friendship, refused. I go into ecstasies every time I see the naked figure of a woman, such as Venus, for example. It strikes me as s0 wonderful and exquisite that I have difficulty in stopping the tears rolling down my cheeks rou a see ho ma ger we should feel one another, but she an tel th to If only I had a girl friend! Also, to answer the mentions I've gotten. Yes, I'm aware the edits were made by her dad. That doesn't make them not be edits made by cishet people. 6m In my experience in the US, the diary is generally assigned in 4th or 5th grade. Not sure why reading about another adolescent child's sexual feelings and gynecological health are appropriate at this stage. 3:30 AM -5 Jun 2019 206 Retweets 1,216 Likes ediejay: luanna801: gahdamnpunk: I’m just now finding out Anne Frank was bi??? OMG Yeah okay, those edits were made by her dad, a cishet person - and also her dad, a Holocaust survivor, who would have been brutally aware that when the diary was first published in freakin’ 1947, had he included anything which people could use to demonize his daughter or tar her as some kind of “pervert”, it would prevent the message he was trying to send about the horrors of the Holocaust and the heroism of his daughter from being properly understood and accepted the way he hoped. That isn’t fair. It isn’t just. But it is reality. If Otto Frank had let this be included in the published version, there’s a large chance the homophobic backlash would have prevented the book from reaching the audience it did and spreading the message it needed to. It was NINETEEN. FORTY. SEVEN. The Holocaust had ended TWO YEARS AGO. The acceptance of LGBT identities was basically nonexistent. Otto Frank made a decision based on the time and place he was living in, about what the world at that time was and wasn’t ready to accept.  Let me say this as bluntly as I can - I am a bisexual Jewish girl and I would have made the same decision Otto Frank did. Making sure Anne Frank was unambiguously seen as sympathic and heroic was more important. Making sure people weren’t sidetracked from the main issue of the Holocaust was more important. He shouldn’t have had to make that decision, without doubt. Anne Frank’s sexuality (however she would have identified in modern terms) shouldn’t be considered relevant to her status as a hero or a sympathetic victim. But in 1947, it undoubtedly would have been. Otto Frank survived Auschwitz and lost his entire family (a wife and two teenage daughters) to the horrors of the Holocaust. He hoped that publishing his daughter’s diary would spread awareness and sympathy for the victims of the Holocaust. If he had to make sacrifices to do that - well frankly, so fucking be it. I don’t know who alive today has the right to judge him.  Thank you for that addition. We cannot blanket demonize people while ignoring context.

Being Alone, Friends, and Frozone: honestly tho that scene in the incredibles where mr. incredible sees the names of all the old super heroes that used to be his friends /that he knew from Back in the Day and how every one of them has been killed by syndrome is such a chilling scene for so many reasons like for one, everyone he knew is dead at this point and has been killed on the same island he's at now and two, its heartbreaking be that means that almost every hero wanted to try out being a hero again despite the laws against it and wanted to try and help someone out and relive their glory days, only to be straight up murdered like fuck that scene is just so fuckin intense allthesebees Klds, could you lighten upa litt Let speak I think the core of that scene for me is, when you're insane like me and you go through it frame by främe, you can work out that Gazerbeam defeated the omnidroid twice the only super we have enough information to confirm did so. I always wondered about his body in the cave, how and why he got the password... But it makes sense. This thing goes haywire, and goes haywire again? He must have been hella suspicious! So he does what any good superhero would do tries to get to the bottom of what's really happening on Nomanisan Island. During the process he's clearly caught and wounded but has just enough time to get himself somewhere he can leave a final message, just praying that the next super to come along will find it and break the cycle. Gazerbeam is my hero. doom-exe Incredibles 2 has a lot to live up to All of this and.. I'm just realizing that the name is No Man Is An Island???? As in, everyone needs someone to depend on and connect with, no one is ever completely alone or should act all on their own Also Gazerbeam probably has X-ray vision-so he not only survived long enough to defeat the Omnidroid, he had the ability to see Syndrome entering the password. animagix101 Holy guacamole! I should pay more attention, I don't think got any of that stuff! does anyone think about the fact that now mr. incredibles has to live wi the fact that all his friends getting killed by syndrome could have been avoided if he had just been nicer to syndrome from the beginning breefolk-hates-staff I was thinking that from the beginning reading this and was shocked it went through so many comments before anyone pointed that out. Syndrome waited until his machine was almost ready to go before asking Bob to come to Nomanisan. He also was surprised to find out that he was married to "Elastigirl, which means he likely built his list and went through everyone else before finally deciding it was time to kill Bob. Also, Syndrome literally didn't find Bob until the start of the movie. He found Frozone and was stalking him. If Lucius hadn't hung out with Bob, then Frozone was going to be the next one lured. There's literally a scene of Mirage realizing that the guy in the car with her target is Mr. Incredible. He wasn't going through the list, he was stalking and finding every former Super he could, luring them to the island, and then killing them, for the sake of improving his robot. Finding Bob was just a happy accident, and Syndromes obsession with him meant that upon finding a bot that could beat Bob, he figured he'd hit perfection and was ready. and like, let's be real here in the intro Buddy was crossing the line the second he showed up, Mr. Incredible mentioned he'd been very nice to Buddy, via signing a ridiculous amount of autographs and doing pictures and stuff, and that he was not going to risk a childs life as a sidekick (albeit in less words). Buddy literally showed up by breaking into his car, and then stalked him all evening until he was arrested. That's disturbingly obsessive behavior, there's no amount of niceness that would stop Syndrome, it was an impossible situation. No amount of nice was going to appease Syndrome, the second he faced any sort of rejection from Mr Incredible he was going to lose it and go supervillain. After his arrest he should have gotten put into therapy, but yknow, set in like. the 50's. so it makes sense he fell through the cracks when the cracks were a goddamn canyon. Don't victim blame Mr. Incredible. Source: silwerhawk 108,322 notes Heroism

Bodies , Fire, and Life: WHAT A REAL HERO LOOKS LIKE @dakotameyer0317 On this day in 2009, near Ganjgal, Afghanistan, Marine Corporal Dakota Meyer charged into heavy gunfire multiple times to rescue comrades under attack from the Taliban. Over the course of the six-hour firefight, Meyer killed at least eight Taliban, personally evacuated 12 friendly wounded, and provided cover for another 24 Marines and soldiers. For "his extraordinary heroism, presence of mind amidst chaos and death, and unselfish devotion to his comrades in the face of great danger," Meyer was awarded the Medal of Honor in September 2011. Read his full citation here: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the repeated risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty as a member of Marine Embedded Training Team 2-8, Regional Corps Advisory Command 3-7, in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, on 8 September 2009. When the forward element of his combat team began to be hit by intense fire from roughly 50 Taliban insurgents dug-in and concealed on the slopes above Ganjgal village, Corporal Meyer mounted a gun-truck, enlisted a fellow Marine to drive, and raced to attack the ambushers and aid the trapped Marines and Afghan soldiers. During a six-hour firefight, Corporal Meyer single-handedly turned the tide of the battle, saved 36 Marines and soldiers and recovered the bodies of his fallen brothers. Four separate times he fought the kilometer up into the heart of a deadly U-shaped ambush. During the fight he killed at least eight Taliban, personally evacuated 12 friendly wounded, and provided cover for another 24 Marines and soldiers to escape likely death at the hands of a numerically superior and determined foe. On his first foray, his lone vehicle drew machine gun, mortar, rocket grenade and small arms fire while he rescued five wounded soldiers. His second attack disrupted the enemy’s ambush and he evacuated four more wounded Marines. Switching to another gun-truck because his was too damaged they again sped in for a third time, and as turret gunner killed several Taliban attackers at point blank range and suppressed enemy fire so 24 Marines and soldiers could break-out. Be Like, Brains, and Crime: 3ack pitchpipestarkid: nobodysusername: im-in-hiding: j-spencer15: Dash, Violet, and Jack- Jack from The Incredibles! All grown up :3 I’m reblogging this again because god damnit I’m getting headcannons. How awesome would it be if like, 10 or 15 years after Incredible’s, these three become like the ultimate crime fighting team. Violet would be the leader, with the brains and many of the black widow style skills her mother passed down to her.Dash would be like the action man with his insane reflexes and he would totally learn to fly a jet from his mom. And then Jack-Jack is the passive quiet one but he’s seriously the most powerful in the group, but he’s happy just to follow and is super modest about being one of the most hyperpowered superhero’s ever. And Helen and Bob are there too, being as awesome as they always were. They do less field work now, getting ready to actually retire. But they’re always there to lend their kids a helping hand when they need it. I legit want a sequel with these three as the protagonists? Mixing the ordinary of young adult life with the fantastic of super heroism? Violet is going steady with that one guy from the end of the movie, Dash is totally revolving his life around superheroism and has a hard time keeping his identity secret, and Jack-Jack is dealing with being rejected in highschool for being a wimp or something and is suffering whiplash from his polar opposite double lives. PIXAR MAKE IT HAPPEN PLEASE NO BUT I’VE LITERALLY HAD THAT IN MY HEAD FOR YEARS AND ERE ITS VOICED THANK YOU OMFG I didn’t know I wanted this until now.

Bad, Books, and Confused: amandaonwriting: Six Types of Courageous Characters by K.M. Weiland, author of Dreamlander 1. Heroic Bravery When we think of heroes these days, we generally think of those who qualify for heroic bravery. What is it? This is the kind of bravery that makes a character do crazy dangerous stuff, either to protect others or to advance a cause in which he passionately believes. He’s not a fool. He knows what he’s risking, but he believes the danger is worth it. 2. Steadfast Bravery Steadfast bravery isn’t as flashy as heroic bravery (although it exhibits bursts of heroism), but its patient doggedness challenges fate every single day. What is it? This is the kind of bravery we see from someone who is enduring a bad or dangerous situation day in and day out. A POW, a soldier in the trenches, or an informant in enemy territory will probably exhibit steadfast bravery. 3. Quiet Bravery This one is perhaps the least flashy of any type of bravery. It can even occasionally be confused with cowardice. What is it? Quiet bravery gives a character the courage needed to endure bad situations with grace and patience. It’s basically an offshoot of steadfast bravery, but it usually surfaces in situations that are less physically dangerous. Cancer patients, overworked single mothers, and trod-upon servants who maintain their sense of self-worth and hope all exhibit quiet bravery. 4. Personal Bravery Not all brave characters are going to face death or save the world. Sometimes the bravest thing a person can do is take a chance to advance his own lot in life. What is it? Personal bravery demands characters reach for the stars and chase their dreams. Instead of remaining in a bad situation and taking it and taking it, they risk everything for a chance at a better life. Personal bravery is perhaps the most common kind of bravery of all, since it’s something every single one of us chooses to exhibit at one point or another in our lives, whether it’s in dreaming of a better education, a better career, or just a life-changing trip around the world. 5. Devil-May-Care Bravery Here we find the domain of the anti-hero and the fatalist. What is it? Devil-may-care bravery isn’t bravery so much as a cynical realization that death (or whatever the worst-case scenario may be) will come no matter what we do, ergo let’s meet it with arms stretched wide. Characters who have nothing to live for can often exhibit insane courage, but they’re doing it from a place of negativity. 6. Frightened Bravery Finally, we have the most dichotomous, and often the most compelling, bravery of all. What is it? Frightened bravery finds the hero a knee-shaking, gut-churning, terrified mess. But he rises above it. He enters the fray in spite of his terror, and, in so doing, becomes the bravest of all characters. Frightened bravery can go hand in hand with any of the other types (save perhaps devil-may-care bravery), since the very act of overcoming fear is what makes a character brave. None of these categories are exclusive. A character may well exhibit all six types of bravery during the course of your story, and often you’ll find the categories overlapping. In creating a strong character, it’s important not only that he qualify for at least one of these types of bravery, but also that you identify which is the strongest category, so you can further strengthen it on the page. Once you’ve done that, it’s almost a cinch readers will find your character fascinating.  Source for Article by K.M. Weiland, author of Dreamlander
