Being Alone, Beautiful, and Omg: jumpingjacktrash: avatar-dacia: thisisarebeljyn: fearwax: scootsenshi: 24-sa3t: comradeonion: powerofthestruggle: Man eating rice, China, 1901-1904 this is an extremely important picture Ive never seen someone from 1904 having fun omg He has a nice face No but the history behind this picture is really interesting The reason that everyone always looked miserable in old photos wasn鈥檛 that they took too long to take. Once photography became widespread it took only seconds to take a picture. It was because getting your photo taken was treated the same as getting your portrait painted. A very serious occasion meant so thst your descendants would know that ypu existed and what you looked like. But one time some British dudes went to china to go on an anthropological expedition, and they met some rural Chinese farmers and decided to take their pictures. Now, these people weren鈥檛 exposed to the weird culture of the time around getting your photo taken, so this guy just flashed a big grin during the photo because he was told to strike a pose and that鈥檚 the pose he wanted to strike. I think painted portraits and old photos give us the idea that in general people were just really unhappy because those are the visuals we have. This is so refreshing. Hey, look; 鈥淢an Laughing Alone With Rice鈥 is back on my dash. always reblog Happy Rice Guy. once upon a time, he really enjoyed his lunch, and that鈥檚 beautiful.

Posts a lot of female DC staffers/government employees body parts and makes creepy comments about them. Also writes for the Washington Examiner (and still is as of writing this).聽 Go fucking figure.聽 People who have never struggled financially have no idea what it looks like. They think everyone who lives in poverty should be constantly covered in dirt and tattered rags. 馃檮馃檮馃檮 I can鈥檛 tell you how many times people told me I wasn鈥檛 poor because 鈥淚f you were, you couldn鈥檛 afford x thing,鈥 where 鈥渪 thing鈥 was usually something I absolutely could not afford normally but either got as a gift, got at a massively reduced price in a garage sale or thrift store, or found somewhere for free. Some of my furniture for example is stuff people were throwing away despite being in perfectly good condition, like my TV. It鈥檚 one of those older box TVs that are absurdly big. Owning stuff isn鈥檛 a sign of anything half the time. And uh, it鈥檚 not like she could go to work in rags! Lots of poor people have to buy or rent dress clothes for work. That doesn鈥檛 mean shit. It鈥檚 just how the world works. Also that house they鈥檙e showing is so small and looks old? It probably isn鈥檛 worth much. But it鈥檚 also rural, so she鈥檇 HAVE to go to whatever city was closest for things like groceries or school, probably. How does that prove anything about her upbringing? People really don鈥檛 know what poor is. Wow. 鉂勷煉 Bella 馃挋鉂 I own quite a few nice looking items of clothes. Some of them were gifts, others were thrifted, some are quality replicas of unaffordable items. I still struggle to make my rent every month and I have zero savings, but most people would not know that by looking at me.Poverty doesn鈥檛 have to be rags and begging outside the subway station. It can be the grad student eating nothing but mashed potatoes for a week. Ocasio-Cortez鈥檚 opponents are just looking for whatever they can to criticize her.-V Seriously. All of my leggings and half of my dresses are Lularoe. They are all gifts from my mom, my step mom, my sister, and my dad.
