Bad, Books, and Clothes: he Swiss are voting on a plan to end poverty forever. Step one: give every adult $33,600 a year, no strings attached. There is no step two. Forget raising the minimum wage. This is much much better idea. The minimum wage could actually drop if we had basic income. But Americans would never go for it. Miserably slogging through 12 hour days and having businesses open 24/7 is too engrained in our culture. “BUT WHERE WILL THE GOVERNMENT GET THE MONEY?” screamed Joe Schmoe, slamming a meaty fist onto the table and getting mouth-froth all over the front of his greying tank top. “You libt*rds all think money grows on TREES!! HAHA!”“But where will people get the incentive to work?!” Mindy Bindy cried, flapping her hands in front of her face. She’d had a fear of the unemployed lollygagging about ever since she was a child and her mother told her to be afraid of the unemployed lollygagging about. “You think people should get paid for nothing? I work hard for my money!” “But who will serve me?” grumbled Marty McMoneybags. “Who will make me feel important? Who will do my laundry and cook my food and stand in front of me wearing a plastic smile while I take out all my stress—because I do have a lot of stress, you know, being this rich is stressful—on them?” He paused and straightened out the piles of hundred dollar bills on the desk in front of him, then raised his two watery, outraged eyes up to the Heavens. “Lord, if there are no poor people, how will I know that I’m rich??” I laughed. This is perfect! Well said! The thing is, while I’m sure you could scrape up a few people who’d be willing to just float by on a guaranteed minimum income? For most people the choice to work would be a no-brainer. “Hmmm. I can get by on 33k a year, or I can take that part time job and make 48k… enough to move to a better apartment, maybe take the family on vacation. Sold.” Hell, most people would want to work simply because it gives one a sense of dignity and something to do with one’s time. (Speaking as someone who’s been unemployed, on extended sick leave, etc. in her time, the boredom and sense of isolation that comes with not having a job is almost as bad as the humiliation of having to depend on other people for one’s survival.) And with this system, part-time jobs and “non-skilled” jobs would be much more readily available because nobody would need to work two or three jobs just to stay afloat! Which would ALSO mean that employers and customers couldn’t shamelessly exploit employees the way they can today, because if losing a job weren’t necessarily a financial disaster, more people would be willing to walk out on jobs where they weren’t being treated with dignity. And if this also applies to students (and it should) then student loans would become much less of a problem, and fewer people would flunk out of school because of having to juggle studies and work. Far fewer people would be forced to stay with abusive partners, parents or roommates because they couldn’t afford to move out. And the thing is, all those people who suddenly had money? They’d be spending it. They’d be getting all the stuff they can’t afford now - new clothes, books, toys, locally-produced food, car repairs - and with each purchase money would flow BACK to the government, because VAT, also income tax. The unemployed and/or disabled wouldn’t need special support any more - which would also mean the government could fire however many admins who are currently engaged in humiliating - *cough* making sure those people aren’t getting money they don’t deserve. Same for medical benefits and pensions. And I’m no legal scholar, but I somehow imagine less financial desperation would lead to less petty crime, and hence less need for police and security everywhere? TL;DR Doomie thinks this is a good idea, laughs at those who protest. reblogging for more top commentary They tried something like this out in Canada as a sort of social experiment, called Mincome. What they found was that, on the whole, people continued to work about as much as they did before. Only new mothers and teenagers worked substantially less hours.  But wait, there’s more. Because parents were spending just a little more time at home and involved with their families, test scores increased. Because teens didn’t have to work to support their families, drop-out rates decreased. Crime rates, hospital visits, psychiatric hospitalizations and domestic abuse rates all dropped, as well. More adults pursued higher education. Those who continued to work reported more job flexibility and more opportunity to choose employment they preferred. Basically, now you can go prove to your asshole family members that society won’t collapse without poor people for you to feel better than. The picture is awesome, but read the commentary, that’s what I’m reblogging for.

Ass, Children, and Community: Verizon 1x 3:15 PM 61%D Post Turns out cutting off 15" of her hair last time she touched scissors wasn't a big enough lesson.she cut her bangs AGAIN. So now she's BALD. I think this time the lessons gonna sink in a little deeper! Write a comment.. Post News Feed Requests MessagesNotifications More savage-affinity: Context to the story:The girl cut her hair once so that she could have bangs. The mother disapproved and decided to cut off 15 of her hair as punishment. The girl later again decided to change her hair style and the above was the result; she shaved her daughters head.Having a few personal experiences with this kind of invasive behaviour it really hurts to see someone go through these kinds of things, where the parent tries to live vicariously through their childs life, to attempt to shape them and make their decisions for them depending on what THEY would do and give their child NO independence or self expression.Thankfully, this mother thought her actions were 100% justifiable and posted it to Facebook as a bit of a “haha, teach my kid a lesson” and has been hit with brutal recrimination from her community and has had visits from Child Protective Services. For so many young (and older) girls their hair is their self expression, and in several months I hope this girl will have hers back. YikesYikesYikesYikesYikes. This fucking awful. And I have a huge ass problem with the trend of publicly “disciplining” your children on social media to begin with. Thankfully I haven’t seen as much of it lately but I remember a few years ago it was all over the place. That shit ain’t fucking cute. Learn how to raise your children without getting a bunch of random internet strangers involved with it and humiliating them for life.

With debt levels spiraling out of control as they are, america might have to do this in the near future, in order to prevent economic collapse from people just not having money to spend. The only problem i forsee with this is that, in order to get the money to distribute, taxes on rich people would have to increase by a lot, and if taxes raise too high, they just fucking move to another country to avoid paying them. If there was a way to prevent this, or if the whole world implemented a standard like this at the same time thereby removing the incentive to flee tax hikes, then this would absolutely work out great

Android, Drugs, and Saw: @ajplus Olympic champion Caster Semenya today began her legal challenge against the IAAF over a new policy that requires female athletes with naturally high testosterone to take hormone- lowering medications or compete against men. Ass, College, and Confused: 00 Sprint 11:02 PM a facebook.com Creighton Leigh July 25, 2016 at 5:47pm When my mom found out I was having sex I thought she'd beat the hell out of me She took me for breakfast, asked a few questions and took me to see a gynecologist. I was rx'd birth control. When we got home she told me she was disappointed that I didn't wait, but she wanted me to be safe. We talked about condoms and she showed me a Nike box full of condoms she kept at the top of the living room closet for my brothers. She also told my high school boyfriend's mother. She quickly cleared up that "your daughter is fast" bullshit and let her know she needed to talk to her son about safer sex. She was hurt, upset and surprised, but she did not punish me. She also said "don't lay there just to please a man, learn your body." She took me to the gyn once a year and kept me on her insurance through college so I could have access to birth control My mom was a strict as they come but she knew better than to shame me for doing what humans do. I mean, she was on my ass like a hawk, and cock blocked like no one's business, but she didn't punish me for having sex. People talked mad shit about my mom because of it. Stop beating your daughters for fucking. It isn't a deterrent. It isn't a barrier. They will find a way to do what they want to The only thing you're doing is making sure they go through life feeling shame around their sexuality. I have told way too many kids and adults that they are HIV positive who were confused about how it happened Talk to your kids openly and honestly about sex. Spend more time talking to them and less time beating and humiliating them in front of an audience. I called my mom today and thanked her. jehovahhthickness:So important.

Candy, Costco, and Food: TABATCHNICK TABATCHNICK Crean of Musbroom Mushroom SOUP SOUP TABATCHNICK 2 Cream of Musbroom SOUP ION sophygurl: optais-amme: 10 Things Food Banks Need But Won’t Ask For Some items are in high demand at the food bank and you may not realize it. Because they aren’t essentials, the staff doesn’t publicly ask for them. A survey asked volunteers what items people would be most appreciative of and we’ve listed the top 10 below. If you’re looking for an easy way to help out, pick some of these up while shopping and drop them off at one of our area food banks. 1. Spices. Think about it. People who rely on the food bank eat a lot of canned food, rice, oatmeal, white bread, etc. They love spices. Seasoned salt, cayenne pepper, chili powder, cumin, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, oregano, basil and so on. 2. Feminine Products. Can you imagine being worried about affording these? Pads, tampons, panty liners, etc. Recommended: Buy in bulk at Costco for donating. 3. Chocolate. People don’t need it, but think about being in their shoes and how nice it would be to be given a chocolate bar or brownie mix along with your essentials. 4. Toiletries. Grocery stores are great about donating surplus or unsold food, but they have no reason to donate toilet paper, tooth paste, soap, deodorant, shampoo, etc. Food stamps often don’t cover these. 5. Canned meats and jerky. This isn’t true of all food banks, but some struggle to give users enough protein. 6. Crackers and tortillas. They don’t spoil and everybody likes them. 7. Baby toiletries. Diapers, baby wipes, baby formula, baby shampoo, baby soap, baby food, bottles, etc. 8. Soup packets. Sometimes you look at rice, beans, instant potatoes, and cans of vegetable and think, “What do I make with this?” Hearty soup is a complete meal. 9. Socks. From a former homeless person: “Socks mean the world to you. They keep you warm, make you feel like you have something new, and just comfort you.” 10. Canned fruit other than pineapple. Food banks get a lot of pineapple donated. Their clients love it when other kinds of fruit are available. [SOURCE] And remember! Food banks love cash donations because it allows them to buy whatever they need! As a sometimes food pantry user myself and with friends who rely on them to varying degrees - I want to specifically stress some of these:  - non-food items like tp and feminine products and baby needs are SO incredibly important because 1) they are rarely donated, 2) people who have food stamps can often afford their food staples but might still need help with toiletries and cleaning items, and 3) folks who are homeless especially need that kinda stuff!  - treats! Like, yes of course, if I am in need I am appreciative of canned goods and rice and pasta and stuff. That’s great for putting together healthy meals. But everyone needs a treat once in awhile - so when there is candy or chips or a nice expensive brand of organic something or other available at the pantry - it is just so incredibly exciting. It can be a humiliating experience to visit a pantry, and it can make you feel very much less than. So to get a treat of some sort just really really makes a difference. And believe me - there are enough loaves of bread, cans of fruit, and dried beans to go around at these places. You won’t be starving someone by donating some microwave popcorn or chocolate chips now and again. I promise!

Bad, Books, and Clothes: he Swiss are voting on a plan to end poverty forever. Step one: give every adult $33,600 a year, no strings attached. There is no step two. Photo: Flickr/twicepix havocados: hello-missmayhem: cptprocrastination: doomhamster: belcanta: nikkidubs: attentiondeficitaptitude: belcanta: Guaranteed basic income to every citizen, whether or not they are employed to ensure their survival and that they live in a dignified, humane way, preventing poverty, illness, homelessness, reducing crime, encouraging higher education and learning vocations as well as helping society become more prosperous as a whole.  Wow. *muffled sound of conservatives imploding in the distance*

Anna, Bad, and Come Over: pervocracy Well, this is a weird twist in the "trans military ban" story Trump never actually discussed anything with the Department of Defense or issued any kind of formal order. He just impulse- tweeted that trans people were banned. So for the moment, there's no actual policy change and trans people are still allowed, with trans healthcare still covered by military plans. I don't know if this situation will last for long, but it's a reminder of just how incompetent and unprofessional our would-be dictator is. He declared a major and extremely unpopular military policy change on Twitter, with no planning or consultation with the DoD at all, lied about discussing it with generals, and then he never actually put in the order. Hng I'm not gonna do a shouty rant-y caption about this again because it just puts me in a bad mood. But I have a wonderful story to tell instead. lgbtteensukstorytime So, yesterday (or the day before - I can't remember), I went to this café on the seafront and I ordered a salted caramel ice cream. THEn, this really hot waiter came over and I started blushing and he was super nice but that's not the bad part. TODAY, I went to another restaurant in Trevaskis and there was this bloody friggin waiter and he was like whEw DAMN he was just wHEW he was v good v good indeed. And he was one of the TWO male waiters out of the fifteen or so that worked there and he just haPPENED TO COME OVER TO OUR TABLE AND WAITER US which was embarrassing because I got flustered and started blushing again because y'know that's the sort of humiliating person I am. thEN for some reason I decided it would be a gLORioUS idea to take a couple of pictures of him when he wasn't looking but oH WELL he was LooKinG™ direcTLY at mE and then I just died and I never want to go to Cornwall again this is a pROBLem, people -Chance 🌸 - Credit for post goes to good ol' Anna

Being Alone, Apparently, and Children: lethal-cuddles: proxypunch: herwinnen: the-evil-lesbian: the-evil-lesbian: bookwormguri: the-evil-lesbian: I want everyone to watch this video. Philip DeFranco is talking about a YouTube channel called DaddyOFive, ran by a man blogging about his family’s everyday life and regularly uploading “prank” videos. This man and his wife prank each other and their children, who are also made to prank each other for more material they put into monetized videos. As you will see in this video, the way they treat their children (especially Cody, who I assume to be 7-9 years old) is outright horrid and abusive, though. Cody seems to be the only one of the children who gets visibly upset over his parents’ “pranks” fairly frequently, begging them to leave him alone and quit messing with him and yelling at them to stop.In the first clip that’s shown in DeFranco’s video, the parents pour invisible ink all over the floor and blame Cody for it, filming his reaction. He is shown yelling and crying, nearly panicking and insisting that he has nothing to do with it, but they don’t stop.Instead, they keep yelling and cursing at him at the top of their lungs, only to tell him and his brother that it’s “just a prank” once they stopped crying.Another clip shows the mother filming Cody and yelling at him for not being able to “take a joke”, manipulating him and putting all the blame on him instead of apologizing. They constantly follow him around with their camera, not giving him any personal space and filming as many of his reactions as possible to humiliate him in front of thousands of viewers. But it gets worse than that.A different clip shows the father pushing Cody face first into a bookshelf. He is then shown crying on his bed, with a bleeding nose, next to a blood-stained pillow. His father then claimed that it was “red ink” and that he simply had a scrape underneath his nose.On top of that, the man who runs this channel uploaded a video titled “BLOCKING ALL THE HATERS”, ranting about the people complaining about their videos and pointing out how horribly they treat their kids in front of his children, even making sure they listen to every word he says.In DeFranco’s video, it becomes obvious that they constantly manipulate, emotionally abuse and physically abuse their children, egging them on and keeping them under control by making them say things like: “At least you don’t hit us like most parents!” I encourage everyone to watch this video to get a better idea of the situation. If you can, that is. Social services have been called on this family before, but no consequences have followed I legit feel ill watching the short clips of the kids, but I still believe it should be broadcasted what pieces of garbage these parents are.Fuck them. Fuck them and their greedy fucking souls. Please please PLEASE do not watch the video if you are triggerd by any of the warnings. I personally am not, but even I found it incredibly hard and distrubing to watch. I felt the same way. I will never understand how parents can treat and manipulate their children this way and never feel remorse. Here’s an addition that shows just how much they terrorize them. They pretend to destroy their children’s possessions and laugh at their reactions. That alone is enough to leave deep scars on anyone’s mental health, especially a child’s.DeFranco mentioned that these people tend to terrorize Cody the most, but looking through their list of videos, I couldn’t believe just how many videos are about Cody. They obviously enjoy humiliating their kids, but to me, it seems like they’re intentionally abusing Cody the most for not playing along as much as they wish he did. I also feel like this is just another tactic to keep their children under control and have them play along. An indirect way of saying “Don’t be as whiny and difficult as Cody, or else we’ll treat you the same way.”When Cody yelled at them and said “You made me go through all this just for a stupid prank?!”, it broke my heart. These people don’t have a single shred of love or empathy for their children. Another addition:Apparently, they uploaded a video in which they made Cody think he was going to be put up for adoption, filming his reaction. As you can imagine, Cody was horrified, begging them to let him stay.Supporters of his parents have used his reaction to try and prove that their kids are happy, claiming that Cody wouldn’t have fought so hard to stay if he was unhappy with his family. Of course, Mike Martin (the father) reblogged the tweets defending him. These people publicly abuse and humiliate their children in exchange for money. That’s not an assumption, it’s a proven fact. It doesn’t matter whether the children are aware of the abuse or not, or how they feel about their parents’ “pranks”.Of course the thought of being taken away from your home and the family you’ve known for your whole life would terrify a child as young as Cody. Their parents have manipulated them into thinking that they’re lucky to live with them and pressured them to play along with their “pranks” for several years. They’ve made their children think that this kind of life is normal and that they have nothing to complain about. They don’t know any better.A child’s horrified reaction to the thought of being placed into a completely unfamiliar home consisting of strangers they think they’ll be forced to live with for the rest of their life is not proof that a child is not being abused. In fact, most children who live in abusive homes love their parents dearly and can’t imagine living without them because they are so emotionally dependent on them.Ignoring that is incredibly dangerous. Please share this. A lot of social media attention has helped before so why not help these children? Yeah no these aren’t pranks that’s just assholes wanting money I couldn’t watch past the first clip, this is just disgusting. How the fuck can people be this cruel!? Those poor kids!
