Dad, Friends, and Fucking: SUCCESS IS NEVER OWNED IT'S RENTED AND RENT IS DUE EVERY DAY INSTA GRAM CLEVER INVESTOR Things got tough and I wanted to quit. Then I remembered my dad telling me that it was a horrible idea to become a real estate investor so I pushed a little harder and kept going. . They got tough again and I wanted to quit. Then I remembered my friends making fun of me for going to another seminar instead of hanging out with them so I pushed a little harder and kept going. . I was running out of money so I wanted to quit. Then I thought about all the sleepless nights I was having and how my financial stress was making me so unhappy so I pushed a little harder and kept going. . More challenges and hurdles kept coming. It felt as if I was never going to break through so I wanted to quit. Then I remembered that lady who laughed me off her doorstep and told me I was too young to be able to help her out of foreclosure so I pushed a little harder and kept going. . Months went by. My debt was pilling up. I went from scared to sad to fucking pissed off. Nothing was working, nothing was coming together. I was doing everything those gurus were telling me, why couldn't I land a deal. . SCREW THIS I QUIT. And just as I was about to slam my laptop closed my daughter walked into the room and as I looked at her it reminded me why I started to begin with. . I took a breath...paused...then got back to work. Nothing is going to get in the way of my success. No challenge, hurdle, or pain can cause me to stop. I have something to prove and my "WHY" is just too strong. ---------------------- motivation cleverinvestor codysperber

Memes, The Voice, and Chinese: NEVER GIVE UP!!! There's an old Chinese saying that says "The temptation to quit will be greatest just before you are about to succeed." I found this to be extremely true. That first year in a new business is always extremely challenging. You set off with the greatest of intentions & high hopes only to find the reality of the real world slapping you around. Failure after failure, things taking longer than expected, & always needing more capital causes massive heartburn & many sleepless nights. At many points I wanted to give up & I thought about quitting on a daily basis. When I first started my educational company Clever Investor I used the money that I made off of real estate investing to live off while I got Clever off the ground. I thought it may take up to six months when in reality it took 2 full years before I ever made a profit. Imagine not making a penny on a business for two full years & every day that goes by the voices around you get louder & it becomes harder to convince yourself to continue on. But I did & just when I started to make a profit & take a paycheck an independent contractor that we hired to set up our Infusionsoft accidentally erased all the credit card data in our system & I lost 100% of my business overnight. It was a devastating blow to the biz. I've bombed on dozens of webinars, choked on live TV, wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars on projects that failed, hired the wrong people who stole money from me, & had many instances where I had to stop taking a paycheck in order to make payroll. You want to be an entrepreneur, this is the reality. Fortunately for me on the other side of thoughts about quitting was a glimmer of hope. A fear of failure & a need to prove everybody wrong that propelled me forward. As I reflect back on those challenging moments I'm thankful for my mentors, friends, & family members that did support me & gave me the encouragement to keep moving forward. I'm thankful that I trusted my gut instincts despite what hurdles and challenges were being thrown at me. Success truly is right on the other side of hard times and I'm telling you from personal experience it's the greatest feeling in the world once you achieve it.
