Bailey Jay, Baller Alert, and Billboard: Baller Alert's Today in Hip-Hop: T.l. Released King' 12 Years Ago @balleralert TI,KING Baller Alert’s Today in Hip-Hop: T.I. Released ‘King’ 12 Years Ago-blogged by @thereal__bee ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ 12 years ago today, T.I. released his fourth album ‘King’ on Grand Hustle Records and Atlantic Records. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Featuring production from some hip-hop heavy hitters such as Just Blaze, Mannie Fresh, Swizz Beatz, and The Neptunes, ‘King’ quickly took the Atlanta native's career to new heights. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Released alongside the film “ATL,” where T.I. made his feature film debut as the main character, the album served as the soundtrack for the film. Not only did it represent T.I.’s career elevating to new levels, but it also showed that he could develop a more mainstream hip-hop sound, without losing his thug persona, and still reign supreme. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart with over 522,000 copies sold in the first week. The album also included two hit singles that had major chart success with "What You Know" and "Why You Wanna". ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ By the end of the year, multiple publications like Pitchfork had dubbed the album one of the top albums of the year.

When you’re in a high-paying corporate job, or any other job that makes you feel comfortable, logic can override your emotions and convince you to stay when you aren’t truly happy. If you’re getting a pull deep down that something’s not right, that there has to be more, “I can’t be working this hard and getting this little reward for it,” you’re absolutely right! I would say listen to this gut instinct and do something about it.” ✔️Be smart and strategic. The reality is, most of us can’t leave our jobs with nothing else lined up. Half of Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck, and paying bills takes precedence over feeling fulfilled. Be smart. 😉 ✔️Shortcut your success. “Did Millmetor just said to take a shortcut?🤔” Read on… f you’re ready to become an entrepreneur, there are things you can do to accelerate your success and avoid mistakes that most inexperienced entrepreneurs make. The answer: Find a mentor! Consider listening to entrepreneurial podcasts that feature entrepreneurs in your industry, or investing in a coach who will guide you through the ropes of building a business. ✔️Establish goals and realistic timelines. While success doesn’t happen overnight, by tracking your metrics and employing a strategy to grow, you can ensure that you’ll eventually arrive at where you want to be. ✔️Success is a BIG picture, remember that. While generating revenue is essential, it shouldn’t be your only focus. Instead, look at your business as a single pillar of your life. Community, Fall, and Feminism: Cardi B Touches on Feminism in Recent Interview: "Anything a Man Can Do, I Can Do'" @balleralert Cardi B Touches on Feminism in Recent Interview: “Anything a Man Can Do, I Can Do” - blogged by: @ashleytearra ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In such a superficial, male-dominated industry, CardiB doesn’t fall victim to riding the wave that she’s “expected” to ride. Instead, she has unapologetically crafted her own, with no-holds-barred. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Not only a rapper but a woman, too, the Bronx native certainly has faced many challenges. However, she continues to prevail, time and time again—living loudly and proudly—despite those who consistently fight so hard to bring her to silence. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When it’s all said and done, she’s just a “regular, degular, shmegular” girl, from the streets of NY, who decided to go for it… and won. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ She’s simply Cardi—no more, no less—and she proved that in a recent sit-down with i-D Magazine. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ During the candid interview, the 25-year-old opened up about her thoughts on feminism and how her stance in the culture is sometimes underestimated. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Being a feminist is such a great thing, and some people feel like someone like me can’t be as great as that,” she says. “They think feminism is great and only a woman who can speak properly, who has a degree, who is a boss, a businessperson… they think only [someone like] Michelle Obama can be a feminist.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And, at a time where even the slightest mention of the word “feminism” still acts as a touchy topic amongst the millennial community, Cardi didn’t end it there. She spoke her mind and spoke it truthfully. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “But, being a feminist is real simple; it’s that a woman can do things the same as a man. I’m equal to a n****. Anything a man can do, I can do,” she adds. “I can finesse, I can hustle. We have the same freedom. I was top of the charts. I’m a woman, and I did that. I do feel equal to a man.”
