My partner and I discussed this yesterday. There is also a Dermatology for Skin of Color textbook by Kelly and Taylor but it unfortunately doesnā€™t have a ton of pictures. When i used to have access, Visual Dx did make a decent attempt to include examples on darker skin tones, but itā€™s expensive and my hospital doesnā€™t pay for access to it anymore. Strongly recommend sending in clinical images to Brown Skin Matters Instagram, Figure 1, and other apps/websites if you have them and have patient permission. We need to build these databases.

im very grateful for the lessons in photography i was taught in stop motion class because just now they made it possible to photograph the stars with my phone in spite of the camera usually not detecting the light of stars because theyre so dim,,,, enjoy these shiny motherfuckers
ok so if everythings normal, your phone camera should have a manual mode (sometimes called pro mode). in it, change the settings of the shutter lag to 20 seconds, then put the phone down on some stable, plane surface and press the photo button (usually when using your camera, the volume buttons can be used as photo button) and let the phone still for the whole 20 seconds.Ā 
(basically the problem with most cameras is that they dont have a very good light sensitivity in the dark, however that doesnt mean they cant detect it at all. the longer the shutter is open, the more light your camera takes in and the more burnt/light your pic will be, so in (literally) dark situations, make the shutter lag longer to get all that light you need! also i said 20 seconds but really you can make it shorter or longer depending on what kinda stuff you want for your stars)

And set your shutter speed to the longest time possible (on my phone itā€™s 10 seconds).
Leave your focus settings on Auto, and if your phone camera has a timer option, turn that on (five seconds is generally enough).
Plan your shot first, then find a place to set your phone down so you can get the image you want. The less light pollution, the better; youā€™ll pick up FAR more stars in your picture.
Once you know what you want to shoot, tap your screen to ā€œfocusā€ it, then hit the button to take the picture, set your phone down, and back away from the ā€œtripodā€. Donā€™t touch your phone for a good 15 seconds, just to be sure.
You will not be disappointed in the results, let me assure you.

okay, so. for those who might not know me, hi! iā€™m sol, a fellow simmer and a digital artist based in brazil šŸ’– i wonā€™t expose everything thatā€™s making me feel not-so-well right now as some of it may be triggering for some folks.

thereā€™s so much contributing to this period being my mental healthā€™s worse nightmare, 

 but for sure the main reason is the covid-19 outbreak in my country.Ā 
brazilā€™s prognostic is not great: the situation is expected to get better in late september only. our (already weakened) economy is collapsing and people are losing their jobs. before the outbreak, i had a somehow stable income working as a freelance artist within my country, but right now all my jobs are gone. no one has money to spend with art. and to make it all worse i have snowball debts making me feel more anxious each day.

Me and my trombone buddies had ā€œffffā€ and he sat next to me and played so hard that he fell out of his chair.
The lengths we go for music.

Okay yeah so I play the bass clarinet and the amount of air you have to move and the stiffness of the reed means it only has two settings and that is loud and louder, with an optional LOUDEST that includes a 50% probability of HORRIBLE CROAKING NOISE which is the bass equivalent of the ubiquitous clarinet shriek.

One day, when I was in concert band in high school, we got a new piece handed out for the first time, and there was a strange little commotion back in the tuba section ā€” whispering, and pointing at something in the music, and swatting at each otherā€™s hands all shhh donā€™t call attention to it. And although they did attract the attention of basically everyone else in the band, they managed to avoid being noticed by the band director, who gave us a few minutes to look over our parts and then said, ā€œAll right, letā€™s run through it up to section A.ā€
And here we are, cheerfully playing along, sounding reasonably competent ā€” but everyone, when they have the attention to spare, is keeping an eye on the tuba players. They donā€™t come in for the first eight measures or so, and then when theyĀ do come in, what we see is:
[stifled giggling]
[reeeeeeally deep breath]
[COLOSSAL FOGHORN NOISE]
The entire band stops dead, in the cacophonous kind of way that a band stops when it hasnā€™t actually been cued to stop. The band director doesnā€™t even say anything, just looks straight back at the tubas and makes a helpless sort of why gesture.
In unison, the tuba players defend themselves: ā€œTHERE WERE FOUR Fā€™S.ā€
FFFF is not really a rational dynamic marking for any instrument, but for the love of all that is holy why would you put it in a tuba part.

Changing Tatum said his Magic Mike body doesnā€™t last for more than five days. He starved down and dehydrated his already fit physique for a ā€œlookā€.
The male soldiers on Spartacus: Blood and Sand were eating pretty much chicken and veggies for every meal to maintain a ā€œlookā€. 
Why is this such a big deal? Because all these characters are considered physical goals for men. These are actual unobtainable physical standards for men. Male body image issues get swept under the rug so often that some people donā€™t even think they exist.

You want proof? Just check out that scene in Captain America: First Avenger where Cap just transformed into that beautiful beefcake of a man. Agent Carterā€™s actress just HAD to touch them muscles, it was completely unscripted. 

Chris Evans had to wear shirts so small they physically hurt, and he dislocated a shoulder during the helicopter scene in Civil War. But who cares, girls got to wet their panties watching Captain America flex.

If we are talking about unrealistic physical standards of male fitness given to us by movies, I would like to mention HughĀ ā€œWolverineā€ Jackman here.
Yeah, he is ripped, isnā€™t he?
Well, it is true, but to get that kind of definition, he went through 36 hour period of dehydration, which caused him to temporarily lose 10 pounds of ā€œwater weightā€.Ā

dehydrated to the point theyre about a day away from actual organ failureokay so chris hemsworth is a absolute god of a man, but hollywood says ā€˜thats not good enoughā€™ and for the thor movie he has to spend several days having the juice squeezed from his body untill he looses about a gallon of whats supposed to be him so that he can do 2 days of shooting scenes without his shirt, after which he has to have recovery time before he is hospitalized because i am not joking about ā€˜one day away from organ failureā€™thats the benchmark- look at chris hemsworth and process that he is told he isnt suitable for a shirtless scene without prepping for three days and nearly fainting

one of the reasons producers get away with this in men and no one criticizes it is because we are fed the lie that this body type is 1) attainable and 2) healthy.
We know starving women down to skinniness is unhealthy, but you see an overmuscled man and you donā€™t immediately think dehydration.Ā 



Remember when people shat all over Adam Driver because even though heā€™s clearly muscular he didnā€™t have ridiculously toned abs in that one shirtless scene from TLJ because heaven forbid he decided not to deprive his body of vital nutrients just to look like a Greek sculpture? Oh! The male soldiers on Spartacus: Blood and Sand were eating pretty much chicken and veggies for every meal to maintain a ā€œlookā€. 
Why is this such a big deal? Because all these characters are considered physical goals for men. These are actual unobtainable physical standards for men. Male body image issues get swept under the rug so often that some people donā€™t even think they exist.

You want proof? Just check out that scene in Captain America: First Avenger where Cap just transformed into that beautiful beefcake of a man. Agent Carterā€™s actress just HAD to touch them muscles, it was completely unscripted. 

Chris Evans had to wear shirts so small they physically hurt, and he dislocated a shoulder during the helicopter scene in Civil War. But who cares, girls got to wet their panties watching Captain America flex.

If we are talking about unrealistic physical standards of male fitness given to us by movies, I would like to mention HughĀ ā€œWolverineā€ Jackman here.
Yeah, he is ripped, isnā€™t he?
Well, it is true, but to get that kind of definition, he went through 36 hour period of dehydration, which caused him to temporarily lose 10 pounds of ā€œwater weightā€.Ā 
Thus during the fight scene he was filming, he was a hair breadth from blacking out whole time, just to look unrealistically muscular.
As he said during interview with Steven Colbert, ā€œIf You go three days without water, You will die. Then, when You are halfway there they shout ā€˜Roll it!ā€

dehydrated to the point theyre about a day away from actual organ failureokay so chris hemsworth is a absolute god of a man, but hollywood says ā€˜thats not good enoughā€™ and for the thor movie he has to spend several days having the juice squeezed from his body untill he looses about a gallon of whats supposed to be him so that he can do 2 days of shooting scenes without his shirt, after which he has to have recovery time before he is hospitalized because i am not joking about ā€˜one day away from organ failureā€™thats the benchmark- look at chris hemsworth and process that he is told he isnt suitable for a shirtless scene without prepping for three days and nearly fainting
