Neither is trying to talk one out of their mindset. I’m not sure if you’re genuinely confused about this or just sea-lioning, but on the off-chance you’re sincere: The quote is about people being complacent and accepting of Nazis in social settings, much in the same way that rapists feel validated by rape jokes. It’s about denying Nazis social validation and acceptance, which is a good and necessary thing. It’s about putting up a stink at family gatherings by refusing to share a meal with uncle Harry after he makes a joke about “some people” needing to be gassed. It’s about standing up to members of your social group spouting antisemitic or racist shit. It’s about challenging them. And yes, trying to talk them out of it is a valid way to do that. But if you can’t, cut ties. It means that if you are complacent, you are part of the problem. So we’re supposed to give them a victim mentality that will sooner or later evolve into a revenge fantasy and culminate in actual revenge and criminal behavior? The good Doctor just made up some ideological bullshit. Don’t try to add nuance to a blanket statement after the fact. Hello. Hi. East German here. We actually do say that. And…you are aware that they already are violent? That they kill people as is? Remember the Zwickauer Terrortrio? Punching them doesn’t make them worse than they already are - Nazis are always violent because their very ideology already is violence. But you know what punching them achieves? It makes them afraid. It makes it so that they don’t dare to try to climb on the herring barrel and shout shit at crowds. It makes it harder for them to recruit followers openly. Punching Nazis and openly ridiculing and shaming them makes sure their bullshit doesn’t get normalised, aka suitable for polite conversation which, as I said, the quote is about. Make Nazis afraid again. : Dr. Jens Foell Following @fMRI guy Replying to @Trancewith Me As we say in Germany, if there's a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with 11 Nazis. 7:18 PM-13 Feb 2018 2,004 Retweets 5,180 Likes sleepyowlet: silverscreenx: sleepyowlet: antifaintl: Reminder. A neat solution to a worldbuilding problem: foone Follow oone Here's the question I always have with universal translators in sci-fi: how do they know when to stop translation? Like say an alien asks about deserts on earth, and the human lists "the sahara desert, gobi desert and kalahari desert" Alien: You just said "desert" six times. :43 AM-19 Jul 2018 756 Retweets 1,883 Likes 068 ロ756 ㅇ1.SK foone @Foone 24h ("Sahara" is Arabic for "desert". "Gobi is Mongolian for "desert, and "Kalahari is Tswana for "desert foone @Foone 24h Man, the aliens are going to think we're so bad at naming. Cause really, aren't Brit: Behold, the beautiful River Avon Alien: Ahh, the River River. You humans have such a knack for naming things. foone Foone 24h Here we are in Chad, looking upon the mighty Lake Chad! Ahh yes, the land of Lake, bordering the Lake Lake. Another fine human name." foone @Foone 24h And here's Nyanza Lac, in Burundi. As you can tell by the fact that it's named Lake Lake in Bantu & French, it's a la... actually this one's a city. A city named Lake Lake strange-emily I found this thing on Facebook... and l fell down the Humans Are Weird hole yet again. ( first did before I even started my blog - Pinterest is sooo full of these posts! And I keep falling down it from time to time, when I discover something new) sirthane You could do it like Douglas Adams with some device that reads brainwaves (or whatever jargon you choose) and translates the intended meaning of the words according to the speaker. In this context, for instance, the speaker intends the word Sahara to mean the name of the place, so the translator would translate it accurately as Sahara Desert. I've thought about things like this before. Mostly about the common rip at ghost hunter shows and movies about how a x00 years old German castle has ghosts that speak perfect, crystal clear, modern English. My thoughts on a plausible explanation were that an apparition would not physically speak by causing vibrations in the air. Rather, consider the possibility that they instead push thoughts into the minds of those it interacts with causing them to experience the sensation of hearing and seeing them as a means to communicate Your brain receives thoughts of the meanings and concepts the being intends to convey. That's why you hear them in your native language, no matter what you speak or where you're at. This also comes with the bonus of explaining why proof is never found on audio or video recordings. The sights and sounds you perceive didn't actually physically happen. You could also reasonably argue that they'd still be able to interact with (push) physical objects with strong enough emotions through some means (depending on canon) while communicating in this manner by saying that expanding and contracting the air in such a way to create the sound of voice with intelligible words would require far too much precision and control ldk. It's fun stuff to think about. SAY CERTAHN ANY WORDS CHAOSLIFE. FINDCHAOS. COM IT'S EASY!** THE WORLD MUST BE TAILORED TO ME AND MY RIDICULOUSLY RESTRICTIVE STANDARDS! WHAT'S A LITTLE CENSORSHIP BETWEEN FRIENDS? **DISCLAIMER: This comic is not intended to defend any person(s) looking to be purposefully contentious or emotionally damaging towards others. It is merely a humorous observation of commonly experienced reactions towards otherwise harmless exchanges between two parties. The previous sent- -ence's use of the word "humorous" was to describe the creators' intent and not necessarily the experi- -ence of the reader. Any humor that was potentially damaging to the reader is solely the responsibility of the reader, having accepted liability through use of the above comic. Any other damages incurred by the reader, up to and including eye strain, papercuts, distraction, and general unease at having to think, should be reported immediately to the nearest wall. Do you suppose people read this far into legal jargon? I could really be saying anything at this point. 1 like slapping lunchmeat together, that might be weird. It's just very satisfying and feels a little taboo. Plus, it sort of sounds like "thwek." That's a pretty good onomatopoeia in my opinion. The views expressed by the grey character do not necessarily reflect the views of the entire int- -ernet; just the small, fragile pockets that shouldn't be allowed outside, let alone have access to a machine that can instantly connect them to millions of anonymous, sometimes contradictory opinions. Opinions are for personal use only. Do not apply censorship directly to iritant. Discontinue use of the internet and call a doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms: headache, butthurt, use of the phrase "I'm not racist/homophobic/sexist, but.", rash, feelings of self-righteousness, feelings that the world may indeed revolve around you, anxiety over particular words being used in normal conversation, palpitations, regurgitation of popular opinions that may not reflect your own, or emotional baggage from negative views.
