You do remember that I disagree with the majority opinion, right? Also, people were calling her a Mary Sue from the first movie. Sometimes based on things that literally didn’t happen, like “being a better pilot than Han”. On a ship she had literally never seen before in her life until she could pilot it BETTER than someone who’s had it forever. That’s bullshit. On a ship she had literally never seen before in her life You mean the ship that she explicitly called “junk”? The one she says she advised against certain modifications for? The one owned by the Quarter Portion guy, who used to be her guardian, as we see in the flashback? How does Rey fly the ship better than Han? Please, I haven’t seen a single piece of evidence for this in over two and a half years, but it’s treated as gospel. Heck, he didn’t even “have it forever”, he lost it years, maybe decades ago. Better than Han is less important than outflying two Ties on her first attempt. Only due to home ground advantage, vs. two fighters designed mainly for space combat with horrible aerodynamics, and even then, she got Finn’s turret shot. Also, she’s all-but-explicitly shown to be using The Force. The dialogue draws attention to the fact that she’s flying better than she expects. ‘somebody did a thing that is entirely understandable given the context of the prior movies and the actual text of the movie at hand. But for some reason I missed these obvious things so yarrr!’ No I fully accept the explanations for it. I still think it was poorly done and added to Rey’s perception as a Mary Sue who faces no real challenges and succeeds at everything. That there’s an explanation for what she’s doing and how she’s doing it doesn’t change that I and many people think she shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. So, shedloads of people apparently ignored or missed the clear on-screen evidence to complain about this aspect of the movie, but it’s still the movie’s fault that they’re wrong, even when they’re making claims which they could not have reasonably arrived at (EG Rey’s a better pilot than Han.), and the only possible explanation is “fandom misconceptions”? just because she succeeded (lived) doesn’t mean Rey herself experienced these things as ‘easy’. how many movies out there does the hero do something unexpectedly and benefit from the results? like maybe all of them? movies would be boring if characters are powerless the entire time until the exact one moment they need to win. they need to succeed and stumble a little bit along the way. little wins and little losses until the end. if she got her arm cut off, would that remove people’s mary sue label? Thing is, people ignore the actual struggles she went through just because they have a Narrative. She didn’t just beat Kylo, he knocked her out pretty much instantly, and then Fin bought her time, and then she temporarily forced Ben back (IIRC, the book says she tapped into the Dark Side). We don’t even know if he would’ve been able to win if he got up, or even if he could get up. And this was while Kylo was bleeding out from a high-powered weapon, which the movie takes pain to remind us of. But the fanbase acts like Rey apparently beat Ben with one hand tied behind her back, wearing a blindfold, while suffering from some hideous space-combination of Avian Flu and Ebola Zaire. I’m so glad I’m not crazy. I thought I was the only one in the more conservative camp that doesn’t agree that Rey is a Mary Sue. There is lots of in-text explanation for why she excels at certain things as well as the time honored “because the Force“ answer which has applied to a lot of characters besides her. And she absolutely does have struggles even if they are primarily in emotional conflict and wrestling with her untapped strength and insecurities about her origins. These are what make the character. Calling the whole character a Mary Sue because “she fight too good“ is kind of asinine. And don’t get me started on how they bitch about her beating Kylo and forget that he was mortally wounded at the time, and bitch about her knowing something about the Millennium Falcon and mechanical engineering despite the fact that she was A PROFESSIONAL JUNKER and the ship had been on her planet probably most of her life giving her plenty of time to explore it. But yeah pretending that only the minority actors/actresses get harrassed is bullshit. Rey is 100% a Mary Sue. No training yet managed to beat Kylo Ren, flew a ship across space despite no experience, etc. @rockyrz did you read literally one word from the post above you or are you just gonna keep shouting “she’s a Mary Sue!“ and ignore all evidence to the contrary?“Managed to beat Kylo Ren”BECAUSE HE WAS FUCKING MORTALLY WOUNDED.“flew a ship across space”BECAUSE SHE HAD JUST STATED SHE WAS A PILOT.Like seriously it’s fine if you don’t like the movie but you seem kind of dumb if you just straight up ignore the evidence even it’s right in front of your face so you can keep saying the same thing over and over.

Memes, A Lot Less, and 🤖: OFF GRID NO MORTGAGE OR RENT NO ELECTRIC BILL FREE WATER WITH NO FLUORIDE GROW YOUR OWN ORGANIC FOOD TOTAL SELF SUSTAINABILITY BE WITH NATURE STILL HAVE EVERY MODERN LUXURY WHO'S WITH ME? anonewr Selling two homes to create one beautiful container home 🏡 that will recycle ♻️ my water at least 4 times before it's last destination to the garden, I will have both solar and wind to generate power and perhaps work on a simple magnetic turbine as well, and all this will be created with no payments. I've sacrificed so much over the last few months to reach my goal. I stoped buying wasteful things and cut down on luxuries like sport cars and expensive meals. Home cooking vegan meals and a Prius has saved me thousands of dollars. Sport = expensive oil, parts, tires and modifications. Home cooking and buying food in a large quantity saves you hundreds of dollars a week and will also save you from going to doctors each and every year. Everyone in the States thinks of this ideology that you have to make 6 figures to become sustainable or live debt free and that can not be further from the truth. If all you do is consume than yes you will need to make a lot of money, but if you are resourceful and sustainable in what you have you can achieve this lifestyle so much easier with a lot less stress. Like I said before I do not just post this memes for followers, I take action to connect with my followers and show you that there is way. Memes, Audi, and 🤖: HH NEWS Audi Sport Audi Will Let You Factory-order A Message Of Your Choice On The Side Of Your New R8 Via @carthrottlenews - Getting a wrap is obviously so yesterday, because Audi has developed a new process to write buyers’ own text on panels before the car even leaves the factory. - Of all the modifications you could wish to make to an R8, and it doesn’t exactly need many, your own personalised text might not be the first thing you think of. - But don’t let that stop us from enjoying the, err, possibilities associated with being able to order any small panel complete with a string of your own words. - Audi has developed a process in which a ‘blasting’ technology shoots through a template placed over a freshly painted, lacquered and dried panel, roughening the surface of the lacquer to a depth of less than a tenth of the thickness of a human hair. That makes the pattern, or words, appear as a matt effect on the surface of the panel. - On the R8, which is being used as the launch example for the technology, the size limitations mean only the so-called sideblades can actually be imprinted upon, but Audi says that any panel up to a metre long or wide can technically be used. At least small panels should be easier to re-finish if you should ever change your mind about your choice of words. - You’re not allowed to violate third-party trademarks, so forget having corporate logos blasted onto your R8 (unless you own the company), but you can seemingly write pretty much whatever else you want. Your Instagram handle, maybe, or a favourite hashtag. If you’re feeling brave you could even make a political statement, but in the current climate you might not want to leave the car parked anywhere for long, or when you return you’re likely to find holes in it. - At the risk of opening a very large can of worms, tell us what you’d have written on your R8’s side panels. Just remember: play nice…

Barcelona, Hype, and Memes: HH NEWS Electric GT's Tesla Model S ls A 778bhp Racing Beast Via @carthrottlenews - Electric GT is looking to steal some of the Formula E hype and become the first all-electric GT series in the world. - The first season will begin later in 2017 with seven rounds and three non-championship races in the Americas. Now we’ve found out just what the Tesla Model S race car will be capable of. - The Model S in Electric GT trim will generate a staggering 778bhp from the P100D’s dual motors (seen as one of the main reasons why EGT switched to it from the P85+). - It’ll also go from 0-60mph in an electrifying (sorry) two second - a bonkers figure and will surely make race starts epic to watch. Performance over the regular P100D has been improved further by a huge amount of weight reduction (bro) - reportedly 500kg has been shifted by completing stripping out the cars. - The power unit is the same from the P100D - the only modifications are through weight loss inside the car, racing brakes, suspension and Pirelli slick tyres. - There’s also, of course, the new racing aero package, roll cage and that monstrous rear wing too. It’s one rapid racing machine and a looker too. We’re intrigued to see how Electric GT will fare when it arrives later in the year with its rookie season. - 20 drivers and 10 teams will compete, with a few drivers already joining the ‘Electric GT Driver’s Club’ (Formula E did something similar ahead of its first season too). - The seven European races will take place at the Nurburgring (Germany), Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (Spain), Mugello (Italy), Brands Hatch (UK), Zandvoort (Netherlands), Estoril (Portugal) and Paul Ricard (France). - Race weekends will feature a 20-minute practice session, 30 minutes to qualify and two 60km races of electric GT-car action, one in the day and one at dusk (we can’t wait to see those photos!). - It’ll be streamed on YouTube, Twitch and Periscope too, so perfectly accessible and free to watch. Just what we like to hear!

Advice, Being Alone, and Anaconda: THE MISLEADING NARRATIVE The Reality ALL "sacred" sites were identified and the pipeline was rerouted to avoid them. US Uncut shared Al Jazeera English's video. Yesterday at 10:36 AM A U.S. District Court confirmed Al Jazeera English uday at 11:30 AM. the tribe had failed to prove any of its claims. A battle is underway between native Americans and oil companies. Here's what you need to know. The tribe was offered ample time to consult with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, but refused, instead opting "to boycott the entire process." There's ALREADY an existing pipeline on the same land, parallel to the new one. The DAPL's path is on privately owned land, NOT THE SIOUX RESERVATION, and 100% of the ND land owners signed contracts allowing the pipe-line to be built. THE LEFT WANTS YOU TO BUY INTO THEIRVICTIMHOOD NARRATIVE andiPipeline Maps (ConfirmTheSiouxiribe Is NOT Being Harmed By The DAPL! -- WAC
flyingattreelevel:

gop-tea-pub:

THE MISLEADING CLAIM: “Native Americans are again being screwed over by the U.S., as the Dakota Access Pipeline encroaches on ‘sacred land’ belonging to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, absent consent.”

THE REALITY: “Court documents, official land surveys, and pipeline maps, confirm this is almost entirely false.”

Let’s begin with the notion of “sacred land”. Extensive cultural & land surveys were conducted in North Dakota before the pipeline received approval. It marked some land as “sacred.” The pipeline plans were then redrafted as to avoid ALL “sacred” pieces of land. [a] This isn’t just conservative-media opinion, either, it’s confirmed in the U.S. District Court memorandum, stating:

“Where this surveying revealed …historic or cultural resources that might be affected, the company mostly chose to reroute. In North Dakota, for example, the cultural surveys found 149 potentially eligible sites, 91 of which had stone features (considered sacred). The pipeline workspace and route was modified to avoid ALL 91 of these stone features and all but 9 of the other potentially eligible sites. By the time the company finally settled on a construction path, …the pipeline route had been modified 140 times in North Dakota alone to avoid potential cultural resources. Plans had also been put in place to mitigate any effects on the other 9 sites through coordination with the North Dakota SHPO.” [b]

Those modifications convinced the U.S. District Court to rule against the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, citing the tribe’s inability to show how the pipeline would damage the group’s sacred ground. From the court document itself, it states, “if a party makes no showing of irreparable injury, the court may deny the motion… It follows, then, that the Court may deny a motion for preliminary injunction, without further inquiry, upon finding that a plaintiff is unable to show either irreparable injury" [b] “The Tribe has not met its burden to show that DAPL-related work is likely to cause damage.” [b]

In addition to providing no substantive evidence to support their case, the Standing Rock Sioux tribe was offered ample time to consult with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, but refused, instead opting “to boycott the entire consulting process.” [a] This petulance was again confirmed by the court’s review, which showed that, as the Army Corps of Engineers attempted more than a dozen times between 2014 and 2016 to discuss the DAPL route with the Standing Rock, “the tribe either failed to respond to requests for consultation or dragged its feet during the process.” [c] It’s also noteworthy that the company building the pipeline - Energy Transfer Partners - had only originally moved the project near the Standing Rock reservation in the first place because doing so was considered “less impactful on the environment, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.” [d] So any assumption that the company hadn’t gone out of its way to seek consultation and alter its plans in consideration of the environment is absolutely false.

Now that we’ve established that the tribe failed to substantiate its complaints, let’s add this somewhat surprising revelation; THERE’S ALREADY AN EXISTING FUEL PIPELINE IN PLACE, UNDER THE SAME GROUND, WITH NO COMPLAINTS. This - again - was exposed in the court’s review and can be confirmed for yourself via utility pipeline maps. “The area around the permitted activity has been subject to previous surveying for other utility projects. DAPL likewise will run parallel, at a distance of 22 to 300 feet, to an ALREADY-EXISTING natural-gas pipeline under the lake. Dakota Access will also use the less-invasive HDD method to run the pipeline, which will require less disturbance to the land around the drilling and bury the pipeline at a depth that is unlikely to damage cultural resources. [b] One can see this for themselves by viewing side by side maps, one showing the existing pipelines, and the other showing the planned route for the new pipeline. They mirror each other. [f]

Lastly is the issue of land ownership and the presumption that the pipeline encroaches on North Dakotan land owned by indigenous tribes. Wrong again. The truth is, the Dakota Access Pipeline traverses a path on PRIVATE PROPERTY and does not cross into the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s reservation. Literally 100% of affected landowners in North Dakota VOLUNTARILY signed contracts allowing for construction of the pipeline on their property. [g] They were offered a good deal and they took it. The Native American reservation is merely adjacent to affected property, it is not the ACTUAL affected property.

One might ask, “but what if neighboring the reservation still puts it in danger?” Here, too, research suggests otherwise. Per a 2015 Fraser Institute Research Report entitled “Safety in the Transportation of Oil and Gas,” transporting oil and gas by pipeline is actually the safest method. Matter of fact, fuel transported via rail is found to be “over 4.5 times more likely to experience an occurrence” than via pipeline. [e] Additionally, “over 70 percent of pipeline occurrences result in spills of ONLY 1 cubic meter, and only 17 percent of pipeline occurrences take place in the actual pipeline.” [e] The vast majority of spills actually occur inside facilities [e], meaning it’s VERY unlikely that anything substantial will leak from the new pipeline.

CONCLUSION:
Essentially, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is complaining that private owners sold the rights to place a fuel pipeline on land that the Tribe does not own, in a way that mirrors existing pipelines, as to transport fuel in the safest and cheapest manner, with designs evolving from countless consultation efforts and professional advice on how to be as environmentally friendly as possible, while specifically redesigning the route an additional 140 times as to avoid offending the tribe, all while the tribe was largely boycotting the consultation efforts and failing to substantiate its complaints in court. What’s happening now, therefore, is nothing more than the political left latching onto the latest controversy as to perpetuate their endless narrative of victimhood.
—————
Sources:
[a]
http://dailycaller.com/2016/10/30/anti-frackers-keep-falsely-suggesting-dapl-desecrated-tribal-lands/

[b]
http://mwalliancenow.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Document-39.pdf

[c]
http://dailycaller.com/2016/09/17/the-govt-actually-tried-several-times-to-consult-north-dakota-tribe-about-pipeline/

[d]
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-pipeline-nativeamericans-reroute-idUSKCN11P09K

[e]
https://www.fraserinstitute.org/sites/default/files/safety-in-the-transportation-of-oil-and-gas-pipelines-or-rail-rev2.pdf

[f]
https://www.sayanythingblog.com/entry/dakota-access-pipeline-follows-existing-gas-line-protest-area/

[g]
https://mwalliancenow.org/blog/dakota-access-easements-95-percent/

I enjoy factual information, thank you.
