Apparently, College, and Complex: r/AskReddit What perfectly true story of yours sounds like an outrageous lie? RamsesThePigeon 13d, 17h Just up the street from my apartment in San Francisco, there was one of those fast food restaurants that was either a KFC or a Taco Bell, depending on the angle from which it was viewed. The establishment was a frequent stopping point for students coming from the nearby college... and those students were a frequent target for a remarkably bright crow Now, on most days, the bird in question would just hang around the restaurant (as well as other ones nearby) and scavenge for scraps. Every once in a while, though - I saw this happen twice, and had it happen to me once - it would enact a much more complex scheme than simply going through the gutter: The crow had apparently discovered that money could be exchanged for food, so it would wait until it saw a likely mark, squawk at them to get their attention, then pick up and drop a coin. Anyone who responded would witness the bird hopping a few feet away, then following its "victim" toward the source of its next snack. When the crow approached me, it dropped a nickel on the ground. I stooped, picked up the coin, and then jumped slightly when the bird made a noise that sounded not unlike "Taco!' Needless to say, I bought that crow a taco. The final out-of-pocket cost for me, minus the nickel, was something like >l.T5. Being Alone, Apparently, and Bad: Sp3ctre7171 points 3 hours ago You are absolutely correct 1) Miro learned to use the mobility of Winston, as well as his primal, to invent modern dive. He learned all of the tips and tricks and extracted extra value out of the hero that few realized was there. In doing so, he created a role that used main tank as an offensive centerpiece and threat to the backline, and all of a sudden flank heroes weren't alone. A poorly protected ana in the back could be beset by multiple members of the enemy team without much warning. However, this required both new gamesense from miro, and innovations in lucio play from Tobi. Specifically, tobi was able to peel for jehong better than many players thought was possible, compensating for the lack of defensive shields. The compounding innovation led to LH being an offensive threat at every position, and it made it possible for them to do the miraculous turnarounds that defined their APEX championship runs Playing against them was exhausting, as is expected from a team where any one member can wipe you out if left unchecked. 2) Gesture's contribution was twofold. Firstly, he extracted more value out of winston's kit on the defensive side, learning how to use primal both to continue an attack, and to peel for his own back line, which leads into his second main development. That being, under Gesture the final decision was made to transfer shotcalling duties from the main support (lucio and later mercy) and onto the main tank, primarily because engagements were no longer dictated by speed boost, but by the dive from the main tank. Together with the rest of GC Busan, Gesture planned, called, and executed crisp dives that were far better timed and aimed than those of old LH. Whereas Miro's dives were a terror because you would be under attack from multiple divers, the style that Gesture led the way on involved being instantly deleted by a full dive, where a healer pair could be hit with burst from multiple heroes in the same instant. This in turn changed the Winston interplay into a mind game, where there was a choice to be made between deleting the enemy's backline and attempting to save your own. Winston players were forced to learn how to make each leap and pincer engage perfect, or they would simply lose the fight Permalink Embed Save Parent Report Give Gold Reply Sp3ctre7160 points 3 hours ago (Continued) 3) what guxue is introducing is a Winston as the focus of a dive, not just the linchpin. While that sounds like the same thing previously, the Winston would be used to coordinate dives and call the timing, but with Guxue, resources are poured into the Winston to make sure that he can have offensive value. Both because Winston can do damage to the whole team at once (and thus build ult insanely fast against teams pocketing a zen, or against GOATS comps), but also because Winston can simultaneously disrupt the escape methods for healers AND bypass most of the ways in which healers are protected, such as matrix and shields Guxue's innovations are most similar to miro's in that they are mostly focused on a single player's style and that one hero's impact in a game. Changing the offensive presence of a hero is impactful and increases the visible skill gap between good and bad teams, but the effects are mostly limited to that one hero. For that reason, I think that the innovations brought forth by Gesture (and many others) are the most important to the development of modern Winston play, in that they represented a fundamental change in the whole shotcalling and tactical philosophy of dive teams, and opened the gates to the more complex and match specific strategies that we saw in the overwatch league owldesk: some really good tank playstyle analysis on reddit (as a side note, this guy is apparently gonna have analysis articles out soon and you better BELIEVE i’m gonna link them bc if they’re anything like this write up they’ll be great)

Complex, Memes, and Twitter: TECH 'CONVERSATION HEALTH' July 30 |Twitter partners with academic researchers to study user interactions and discourse on the social platform. Twitter is turning to academic researchers to find ways in which the social platform can improve the ‘conversational health’ amongst its users. The initiative is a part of Twitter’s mission to maintain social relevance, as the platform reports it has lost 1 million users. ___ Back in March, Twitter called researchers for proposals as to how the platform could watch the types and tone of conversations between users. Over 230 proposals were reviewed by a variety of Twitter employees, and the company has decided on two research teams to tackle two different issues. ___ The first team, led by researchers from Leiden University, will handle echo chambers and uncivil discourse. The team will be measuring how much users interact and will create an algorithm that can distinguish between uncivilly and tolerance. ___ The second team, led by researchers at the University of Oxford and the University of Amsterdam, will look at interactions and distressing prejudice. Their project will look at how Twitter users treat (or mistreat) prejudice and discrimination when interacting with accounts of diverse viewpoints. ___ Twitter said in a statement: - "When the communication between groups contains more positive sentiments, cooperative emotions, and more complex thinking and reasoning from multiple perspectives, prejudice is reduced and relations can improve.” ___

Bitch, Complex, and Dumb: ctor- 1 Lexie M 12/10/17 Mr. Robert Hugs Reasons you need to give me a hug On December 10th, 2017, Robert you asked if I wanted a hug. Of course I said yes, I'm always accepting offers for hugs. But since you wanted to be a prick, you told me to writea three paragraph essay as to why you should give me hugs. Here it is, Bitch. Reason number one is simple, and self explanatory. You're my boyfriend, and I should be receiving hugs very often. As a needy girlfriend, I need these hugs to be happy, healthy, and content. You should know this, because we have been together for over one year. Assuming you already know this, my question is this: why didn't you give me the hug anyways? Fortunately, for you, I'm a very forgiving and understanding person. I'll accept a hug later and you can continue playing H1Z1 with your friend Jake. Reason number two is a bit more complex. Hugs release neurotransmitters called Oxytocin and Serotonin. Considering you're about to be an Economic/ Computer Science major, you don't know what a neurotransmitter is. A neurotransmitter is a chemical that is released at the end of a nerve fiber upon arrival of a nerve impulse. Between fibers are gaps called synapses. These neurotransmitters allow the diffusion from one fiber to the other. If know you at all, I'd know you skipped the whole reading on what a neurotransmitter is. There will be a quiz following this short essay, better read up! Oxytocin and Serotonin are very important to living a happy life. Oxytocin is also very important to the reproductive system, so, if you ever want to get jiggy; give your girlfriend a hug! Serotonin is the chemical Il've been lacking for years which is why I've suffered from depression and anxiety. So, in conclusion, give your favorite girl (besides Fergie, dumb Bitch) a hug to keep her Serotonin levels up! (Oxytocin) The third and final reason why you should give me a hug is because it is scientifically proven that it improves sense of trust and sense of security. I'm not saying that our relationship needs much improving, because we are truly everyone's favorite couple. Why wouldn't we be? We're hot, funny, and smart. Senses of trust could always use improvement, even if we trust each other already. (Which I hope you do, bitch) In conclusion, I believe I deserve all the hugs I desire. This will not only benefit me, but you as well. It will benefit you because of the good mood I will be in afterwards. This good mood not only makes my day easier, but yours too. Hugs are good for my well being, I need them on a regular basis. Citations "Oxytocin." Psychology Today, Sussex Publishers, www.psychologytoday.com/basicsloxytocin McIntosh, James. "Serotonin: Facts, What Does Serotonin Do?" Medical News Today, MediLexicon International, 29 Apr. 2016 www.medicalnewstoday.com/kc/serotonin-facts-232248 I told my girlfriend to write me a 3 paragraph essay on why I should hug her. Little did I know, she actually was doing it while I was playing videogames.

The intentions might be good but the fact is you have to reduce these complex concepts so much to make them appropriate for children that they lose all meaning. She defines lesbians as “girls who love other girls” and bisexual people as “people who love boys and girls”, while comparing it to “liking apples and bananas”. There are a lot of different kinds of love beyond sexual love. Little kids love their dogs and their cats and their moms and their dads and their brothers and their sisters and their teachers and their cousins. You’re going to have little girls thinking they’re lesbians because they have a female best friend or they really like their lady teacher. Boys convinced they’re bi because they love their mom and dad. It creates more questions than it answers. Maybe we should just accept the fact that certain things are not appropriate for children until they are old enough to understand more complex issues. This goes well beyond just teaching kids to be accepting and kind to everyone.

Even so, I figured a bird that smart deserved a reward simply for existing Of course, that was probably exactly what I was supposed to think. TL;DR: A crow paid me five cents to buy it a taco.

Bad, Come Over, and Complex: A famous restaurant in NYC decided to hire a firm to figure out why they kept getting bad reviews. What this firm discovered is quite interesting. Below is a transcript that the restaurant posted on Craigslist after they discovered what it was... We are a popular restaurant for both locals and tourists alike. Having been in business for many years, we noticed that although the number of customers we serve on a daily basis is almost the same today as it was 10 years ago, the service just seems super slow even though we added more staff and cut back on the menu items... One of the most common complaints on review sites against us and many restaurants in the area is that the service was slow and/or they needed to wait a bit long for a table. We decided to hire a firm to help us solve this mystery, and naturally the first thing they blamed it on was that the employees need more training and that maybe the kitchen staff is just not up to the task of serving that many customers Like most restaurants in NYC we have a surveillance system, and unlike today where it's a digital system, 10 years ago we still used special high capacity tapes to record al activity. At any given time we had 4 special Sony systems recording multiple cameras. We would store the footage for 90 days just in case we needed it for something. The firm we hired suggested we locate some of the older tapes and analyze how the staff behaved 10 years ago versus how they behave now. We went down to our storage room but we couldn't find any tapes at all. We did find the recording devices, and luckily for us, each device has 1 tape in it that we simply never removed when we upgraded to the new digital system The date stamp on the old footage was Thursday July 1, 2004. The restaurant was very busy that day. We loaded up the footage on a large monitor, and next to it on a separate monitor loaded up the footage of Thursday July 3 2014, with roughly the same amount of customers as ten years before. I will quickly outline the findings. We carefully looked at over 45 transactions in order to determine the data below 2004: Customers walk in They gets seated and are given menus, out of 45 customers 3 request to be seated elsewhere Customers on average spend 8 minutes before closing the menu to show they are ready to order Waiters shows up almost instantly takes the order Appetizers are fired within 6 minutes, obviously the more complex items take longer Out of 45 customers 2 sent items back. Waiters keep an eye out for their tables so they can respond quickly if the customer needs something After guests are done, the check delivered, and within 5 minutes they leave Average time from start to finish: 1:05 2014: Customers walk in. Customers get seated and is given menus, out of 45 customers 18 requested to be seated elsewhere Before even opening the menu they take their phones out, some are taking photos while others are simply doing something else on their phone sorry we have no clue what they are doing and do not monitor customer WIFI activity). 7 out of the 45 customers had waiters come over right away, they showed them something on their phone and spent an average of 5 minutes of the waiter's time. Given this is recent footage, we asked the waiters about this and they explained those customers had a problem connecting to the WIFI and demanded the waiters try to help them. Finally the waiters are walking over to the table to see what the customers would like to order. The majority have not even opened the menu and ask the waiter to wait a bit. Customer opens the menu, places their hands holding their phones on top of it and continue doing whatever on their phone Waiter returns to see if they are ready to order or have any questions. The customer asks for more time. Finally they are ready to order Total average time from when the customer was seated until they placed their order 21 minutes. Food starts getting delivered within 6 minutes, obviously the more complex items take way longer 26 out of 45 customers spend an average of 3 minutes taking photos of the food 14 out of 45 customers take pictures of each other with the food in front of them or as they are eating the food. This takes on average another 4 minutes as they must review and sometimes retake the photo. 9 out of 45 customers sent their food back to reheat. Obviously if they didn't pause to do whatever on their phone the food wouldn't have gotten cold 27 out of 45 customers asked their waiter to take a group photo. 14 of those requested the waiter retake the photo as they were not pleased with the first photo. On average this entire process between the chit chatting and reviewing the photo taken added another 5 minutes and obviousy caused the waiter not to be able to take care of other tables he/she was serving. Given in most cases the customers are constantly busy on their phones it took an average of 20 minutes more from when they were done eating until they requested a check. Furthermore once the check was delivered it took 15 minutes longer than 10 years ago for them to pay and leave. 8 out of 45 customers bumped into other customers or in one case a waiter (texting while walking) as they were either walking in or out of the Average time from start to finish: 1:55 We are grateful for everyone who comes into our restaurant, after all there are so many choices out there. But can you please be a bit more considerate?
This Restaurant Kept Getting Awful Reviews. Then They Discovered This…

He told me that too often patients think that recovery is a direct climb back to the top from the depths of depression. Rather than that, it’s much more complex and has many loops where you will experience significant growth and progress, but then fall back to where you were before. Having it pointed out to me made things a lot clearer, and I wasn’t as overwhelmed whenever I would start to relapse and sink back into depressive habits. However, I began to note that each time it was slightly better than the time before, and just that small realization gave me much more motivation and energy.

So to those of you who may be struggling with depression, just keep this illustration in mind. Your progress may not be constant or consistent, but you will continue getting better. Try to visualize yourself on this path and remember that it’s less and less severe each time, and each day brings you closer to happiness again. You can do it! I’m cheering on all of you who are still fighting!

An object that for all intents and purposes, that is utterly useless except in its ability to describe the failing of mathematics, and the human mind as a result.

My dad bought me one for my twentieth, and I honestly believe it is the most amazing thing in human comprehension… Or out of it.

Klein bottles are constructed out of one side of glass. I’ll let that sink in for a second: it only has one; a singular side. Even more perplexing is the inability for human language or mathematics to come up with descriptive tense for it: due to mathematics failing when presented with a Klein bottle, it has no theoretical volume. Despite this, it can hold volume, even though it has none of its own.
Even more confusing, is that it is technically a four dimensional object: an linear object that as you fill, defies physics and technically time itself. Being a single sided object, it is non orientable: imagine for example a piece of paper with only one side. if you look at the edge, Which side is the side faces left? Which faces right?
The answer? Neither exists.

In all intents and purposes Klein a purely intangible: whilst it is possible to own one, it does not exist. Being entirely unfathomable in depth and volume, it technically encompasses all things: at this moment in time you are both inside and outside of every Klein bottle in existence. A step further highlights human fallibility even more: it is a four dimensional object, that is bound in three dimensions, disregarding the fourth.

The thing I like about Klein bottles is their simple complexity: entirely unfathomable yet entirely simple: it is just a mass of glass shaped to become itself. But it has no mass at all, and whilst you may use three grams of glass to make it, once it reaches that shape, it has no mass at all. This is the limit of human understanding. This is where we lose our knowledge, this is where every single thing we, you, and I know, means nothing. And it’s just a simple glass bottle. So simple, and yet so exquisitely, impossibly, outrageously complex.
My Klein bottle both encompasses you, and you encompass it. But our minds cannot encompass anything.

Ladies and gentleman, I present to you the true manifestation of the end of human understanding, more complex than infinite black holes: the Klein bottle. The only form in the world that both exists, and doesn’t.

I made this post to highlight a point I couldn’t explain but wanted to. Everything we know, everything we experience is subject to our own failings, or successes as they may be.

True understanding of the world, is to accept that we understand nothing, even understanding itself.

WHAT

BUT

HOW DO YOU USE IT?!

LIKE, HOW DOES THE LIQUID COME OUT?

NO SCREW THAT, HOW DO YOU GET THE LIQUID INSIDE IT?!

I give you a hamburger.

DON’T YOU FUCKIN’ START THAT
