Community, Lenny, and Lenny Kravitz: #BAGreekLove. Happy Founder's Day Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. @balleralert BAGreekLove: Happy Founder’s Day Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There's nothing like attending an HBCU to learn more about your culture. It wasn’t until the 1830’s that African Americans were even able to receive higher education. That was just the beginning. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At an HBCU there are many opportunities for students to learn the true meaning of brotherhood and sisterhood. From the marching bands and the dancers, and of course to the nine historically Black Greek Letter Organizations(BGLOs) also referred to as the “divine nine.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To continue to show our love and appreciation for HBCUs, we would like to highlight the “divine nine” at different HBCUs to showcase community involvement as well as the creative steps and strolls. If you would like to show what your organization is doing at your HBCU, please DM @peachkyss or email at peachkyss@balleralert.com ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The sorority was founded on January 15, 1908, at the historically black Howard University in Washington, D.C., by a group of sixteen students led by Ethel Hedgeman Lyle. Forming a sorority broke barriers for African-American women in areas where they had little power or authority, due to a lack of opportunities for minorities and women in the early 20th century. Alpha Kappa Alpha was incorporated on January 29, 1913. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Some well known Alpha Kappa Alpha’s feature PhyliciaRashad, LorettaDevine, RoxieRoker (mother of Lenny Kravitz), MonyettaShaw, ShamariDeVoe (R&B Group Blaque), and StarJones. Honorary members include AliciaKeys, MayaAngelou, GladysKnight, CorrettaScottKing, and more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Happy Founder’s Day!

Abc, Doctor, and Family: California Girl Dies From Deadly Infection After Being Misdiagnosed With Flu @balleralert California Girl Dies From Deadly Infection After Being Misdiagnosed With Flu - Blogged by: @RaquelHarrisTV ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A 12-year-old California girl lost her life after her mother said a doctor misdiagnosed a deadly infection with the flu. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On Dec. 17, Alyssa Alcaraz died in Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia, California, from an infection called sepsis which kills more than 250,000 Americans a year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This comes only days after a doctor told her family that she had influenza, prescribed her ibuprofen and instructed her to rest for 10 days at home. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "For her, it wasn't even [the flu]. It was just three days and she was dead," Keila Lino Alcaraz, the girl’s mother, told ABC News ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, according to Alyssa’s death certificate officials from Tulare County say she died from cardiac arrest and septic shock, which is the body’s extreme response to an infection. "Sepsis can rapidly cause tissue damage, organ failure and death," according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Alyssa’s mother says she won’t take any legal action but she hopes medical officials will develop tests for rare cases like Alyssa’s to prevent misdiagnosing other patients. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I have mixed emotions. I know doctors and clinics are so overwhelmed with flu cases right now. My thing is, yeah, I could point fingers, but as a mother, I missed it, too," she said.

Apparently, Children, and Memes: 11-Year Old Wearing Earbuds and On Cellphone Killed By Amtrak Train While Crossing TrackS@balleraler 11-Year Old Wearing Earbuds and On Cellphone Killed By Amtrak Train While Crossing Tracks - blogged by @peachkyss ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ An 11-year-old of Haines City, Florida was struck and killed by an Amtrak Train as she returned from getting soda and snacks for her and her brother. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, Yazmin Smith had earbuds in her ears and was looking at her cellphone as she walked towards the tracks. The train was traveling 68 mph. The conductor told investigators that he blew the horn for about a quarter of a mile while trying to stop the train. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Yazmin walked up and over the tracks with her earbuds in and never, ever, ever heard the train until the absolute last second, when she looked up and it was too late,” Judd said. “She tried to jump off the tracks, and she died as a result of being hit by the train.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Yazmin was a fifth grader at Davenport School of the Arts, who was home with her 9-year- old brother that day. Smith’s brother was home napping when she decided to go to for snacks. The children’s mother was on her way home from work at the time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to investigators, the earbuds have not been evaluated yet. “If you have noise-canceling earbuds, plus you have your favorite music in your ears, the end result is what, apparently, at this point in the investigation, we saw,” Judd said. “She never heard the train.”

Bad, Comfortable, and Confidence: LEARN TO BE UNCOMFORTABLE Would you like to learn how to get comfortable with the uncomfortable? Read on!👇 ✔️Start. The first step is always the most uncomfortable. All you have to do is show up. The battle is half won if you just show up. I get it. It's uncomfortable to start something. ✔️Don't quit. You've decided to start. You're not seeing results. It's difficult. You want to quit. It's OK. Just keep pushing forward. You are not a P***y. ✔️Push yourself past your comfort zone. At some point, you are going to say to yourself, "I've never done this before" or "I don't know what I'm doing." We've all been there. Here's a trick: Don't say it out loud. Just pretend to be confident. Fake it till you make it. It's scary, but I promise you this: When it's over, you are going to say, "It wasn't as bad as I thought it was." Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will. ✔️Be around like-minded people. Create a support network. Talk about your experiences. The worse the experience it is to you, the better the story it is to everyone else. Soon, you will be seeking uncomfortable experiences to share with your friends. Be a good storyteller. ✔️Rinse. Repeat. There's an old Russian saying, povtorenie mat ucheniya, (I don’t even know Russian but I found the meaning on google haha) which means "repetition is the mother of learning." The more you perform the same activity, the more confident you become. Confidence is a tangible thing, it comes from practice and repetition. - uncomfortable comfortable success millionairementor

She was shopping in Manhattan and went to buy a $1 New York lottery scratch-off ticket, however, the cashier mistakenly gave her a $10 Set For Life ticket, instead. Thankfully, Zaharov had some extra cash and decided to buy the ticket anyway. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “When the clerk handed me the wrong ticket I felt bad, so I decided to just go ahead and buy it. I actually used the ticket as a bookmark for a couple weeks before I decided to scratch it,” Zaharov said in a press release. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Well, it was Zaharov’s (who is a mother of two) lucky day because the ticket earned her a winning of $5 million to be given to her over 20 years. To make it even better, she also gets a net sum of $172,068 for the rest of her existence. “I never win anything. I was sure the ticket was fake. It wasn’t until I brought it into the office that I knew it was for real.” she said. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now Zaharov can buy a few more bookmarks. With her winnings, she plans to take her family on vacation to the Bahamas and make sure her kids' education is completely covered.
