Anaconda, Baller Alert, and Billboard: Baller Alert's Today in Hip-Hop: 10th Anniversary of Lil Wayne's "Lollipop 09 @balleralert WAYNE THA CARTER Baller Alert’s Today in Hip-Hop: 10th Anniversary of Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop”-blogged by @thereal__bee ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Ten years ago today, Lil Wayne released his smash single “Lollipop” from his sixth album, ‘Tha Carter III’. The song features the late rapper Static Major, with production by Deezle and Jim Jonsin. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ With his heavy auto-tuned flow, Wayne and Static created a hit that took the world by the storm. Literally, everywhere you turned, the song was live and in effect. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ To no surprise, it became of one Lil Wayne's and Static Major's most successful singles, spending five non-consecutive weeks in the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Unfortunately, Major did not live to the see the song’s success, as he died almost two weeks before song’s release. However, the song does go down in history as the eighth song to hit number one after the death of a credited artist. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The single became certified 5x Platinum by the RIAA with five million units sold in the United States. It also went on to receive multiple acknowledgments such as the number one hip-hop song of 2008 by MTV and number five on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2008.

The Fist Pumping Cast Of “Jersey Shore” Is Reuniting for “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” – blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Cabs Are Here! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On Monday, MTV announced that everyone’s favorite Jersey crew will be reuniting for a new reality series set to premiere in 2018. The revival of the series, which followed a group of friends on the shore during a booze-fueled summer break, will include original cast members, including Deena Cortese, PaulyD, Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Snooki and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to reports, the announcement came during the series premiere of the “Floribama Shore” spinoff, which followed an almost identical format to the fan-favorite Jersey show. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now though, after the success of their previous six seasons on the network, creator SallyAnn Salsano will be reviving the popular television series and reuniting the original cast for “Jersey Shore Family Vacation.” According to Variety, Nina L. Anaconda, Bailey Jay, and Billboard: #BallerAlert's Today in Hip-Hop: Jay Z Released Vol. 2...Hard Knock Life' @balleralert VOL.2...HARD KNOCK UFE PARENTAL ADVISORY IPLICIT CONTENT BallerAlert's Today in Hip-Hop: Jay Z Released 'Vol. 2...Hard Knock Life'-blogged by @thereal__bee ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ 19 years ago today, rapper JayZ released his third studio album, 'Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life' on Roc-A-Fella Records and Def Jam Recordings. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ As of 2013, the album was said to be Jay Z's most commercially successful album. It was certified 5x Platinum by the RIAA in 2000 and has sold over 5 million copies in the United States. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ From the humble beginnings of his first album to 'Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life', fans experience an evolution of this iconic lyricist. While he still maintains his "street cred," by never forgetting where he comes from, he also allows us to see beneath the surface and get into his inner thoughts. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ There is also an obvious change in the sound. While the first two albums are for true "hip-hop heads", this album catered more to the mainstream, by sampling songs from other genres such as the musical "Annie" for the hit song, "Hard Knock Life". The critically acclaimed album was ranked number 46 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest albums from the 1990s. It also was his first album to peak at 1 on the Billboard 200. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The album even won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, but Jay Z refused to come as a form of boycotting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The New York native told MTV, "I am boycotting the Grammys because too many major rap artists continue to be overlooked. Rappers deserve more attention from the Grammy committee and from the whole world. If it's got a gun everybody knows about it; but if we go on a world tour, no one knows."
