Crime, Instagram, and Memes: Chris Harrigan 5 hrs Melbourne, VIC Guys this is the true crime story of the decade: Yesterday a friend told me what might well be the best story I've ever heard. She had caught the train in from Frankston. And while she was waiting for the train to come, she noticed a man sitting down on the platform with a bag of fish and chips. But he wasn't really eating them. He was just sort of letting them air. This attracted a few seagulls, who began to circle the platform. Instead of shooing the birds away, the man offered them a few chips. He'd toss one a foot or so away from him. It was like he was beckoning them to come closer. He kept doing this, eking the chips out slowly, until there was a big group of seagulls in front of him, 15 or 20. A tiny army. He'd throw them a chip every now and then - just enough to keep the birds interested, but not enough to sate them. It was frustrating. They were getting angry. Squawking. It was like he was rearing them up for... something. Then the train came, and everyone got on. But the man stayed on the ground with his chips. Just when the train was about to leave. It happened. Right before the doors closed, the man threw the entire bag of the fish and chips into the train. The entire flock of seagulls followed the bag. And the doors closed. Inside the train: pandemonium The next train stop was five minutes away. 💨 @hitsblunt is the funniest hits blunt page on Instagram! 👺😂

Af, Being Alone, and Bad: Tom Sauer @thomasbsauer (THREAD) A few observations from a former bomb disposal officer G.e. Me) 1. Proper pipe bombs don't have wires connected to both ends. That's dumb. 1:15 PM 24 Oct 18 from Washington, DC 1,354 Retweets 1,736 Likes Tom Sauer @thomasbsauer 2. You can find timers/ remote control receivers WAY smaller than whatever that white box is. A proper timer would best be stored inside the pipe, making it fully encapsulated I hat thing is just silly looking 1:15 PM 24 Oct 18 from Washington, DC 224 Retweets 555 Likes Tom Sauer @thomasbsauer 3. Bottom Line: Whoever made that wanted it to be painfully obvious to anyone and everyone that it's a "bomb." This is nearly the same as a bundle of road flares wrapped together with an old-timey alarm clock ticking away. 1:15 PM 24 Oct 18 from Washington, DC 397 Retweets 1,005 Likes Tom Sauer @thomasbsauer 4, "Hoax Devices" are FAR more common than real ones. In which case, we should ask ourselves what the motives of the "bomber" are and "who benefits?" Go ahead. Think deeply and critically. 1:15 PM 24 Oct 18 from Washington, DC 387 Retweets 915 Likes robert-the-redhead-lover: skypig357: robert-the-redhead-lover: skypig357: robert-the-redhead-lover: skypig357: whiskey-gunpowder: skypig357: oldmarine1775: whiskey-gunpowder: the golden rule: if the media pushes something, be very skeptical. If MSM is pushing it, I promise you it’s total BS. If it were Republicans receiving these “bombs” you wouldn’t hear anything about it. Guess you’ve not seen the news. Press conferences. Arrest was made. It was legit. Not hoax devices and not a false flag. And if you don’t think the MSM would cover Republicans getting bombs in the mail you’re insane. Even if they hate republicans they’ll cover that for ratings. Money talks the media is nothing more than a left wing propaganda machine. they report narratives, not facts So is Fox News a right wing propaganda machine they reports narratives, not facts? If the media reports something you want to be true, do you think it’s equally Fake News? Also I’m not basing anything off the media, but the press conference that the FBI and Attorney General made noting the arrest and status of the devices. Then a basic search of the subject (Cesar Sayoc) gives you a trove of information https://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/fbi-director-christopher-wrays-remarks-regarding-arrest-of-cesar-sayoc-in-suspicious-package-investigationFBI Director Christopher Wray’s Remarks Regarding Arrest of Cesar Sayoc in Suspicious Package InvestigationSourcing of all media is a good idea. Check and double check. But if you go down the rabbit hole of actual distrust and embracing conspiracy theories you’re lost. Weird how the FBI was able to get this guy so quick, yet missed the Parkland shooter, despite years of reports… DNA and fingerprints. If you’re in the system and you’ve committed a national crime, it’ll be over quick. He left evidence Even though I’m in the system (USN), it took them two weeks to run a background check on me when I applied for an airport job, but they nabbed this guy in less than 48 hours? I find that suspicious af. Dude. Your background check act of domestic terrorism that’s targeting politicians and media all over the news in an election year. If you find that suspicious I don’t know what to tell you. What’s the alternative? A conspiracy involving hundreds of FBI agents and techs, local and state law enforcement, postal service, and media? Are you serious? You don’t need all that when folks don’t question and just obey because they’re “taking care of the bad guys.” All you need are a few rotten apples at the top. But, none of those packages went through the mail. That’s given away by the lack of postal cancellation, as well as not enough postage.Otherwise, the timing is what I call suspicious. Hostage situations have taken longer. Hell, since you brought up domestic terrorism, it took them longer to find McVeigh and Kazinski (sp?) than this guy. Even assuming it is the right guy, do we know who he really is? If he was capable of organizing something like this by himself? If he working alone? If he isn’t the face of a larger scheme? It wouldn’t be the first time the “ lone wolf” angle being pushed by the media looked a little suspicious. As an aside, I love it when people get into pointless arguments about CNN vs Fox News and which one is “less biased“, as though they aren’t both owned by the same sort of people and used to pump out varying levels of propaganda for controlled opposition.

Anna, Ariel, and Ass: WWw.missho1IS-P misshollyslair: *** Please support me by buying me a Ko-fi ! Tips help me make art for pure enjoyment like this piece :) Plus you’ll get a little something by mail if you tip me 3 Ko-fis or more ! https://ko-fi.com/missholly ***This is my remake of Winterhalter’s painting of Empress Eugenie and her ladies in waiting. If you’ve followed me for quite some time, you’ll remember I made a first version of this painting a few years ago, in 2013 to be precise, which I still like a lot (https://www.deviantart.com/hollybell/art/Princess-Tea-Party-417118671). It was already a bit ambitious for me at the time, and you’ll notice I took quite some shortcuts here and there, especially with the background. Because of that, and because I never got around to take part in the improvement meme that circulated a while ago, I decided to make a new updated version ! I had been wanting to do it for a long time, and recent events made it possible for me to set aside enough time to make it happen. You’ll notice I changed the princesses who appear in the image. There’s no particular reason behind it, but if I had to give one I’d say it’s just to suit my current taste better :) For instance, I can’t remember why I picked Snow White at the time, because she’s not one of my favs. My favorite princesses are Belle and Ariel, so they stay in the front spots :) I also love Giselle, and I have sweet spots for Moana and Rapunzel. Except this time I gave her her long hair for a change. Tiana kicks ass so I really wanted her to stay too, and I also adore Mulan so she just HAD to be there. The two women in the bottom right corner in Winterhalter’s painting seem to have a closer relationship, and it just seemed that it would be perfect for sisters. I hesitated because there are other girls I like way more than Anna and Elsa but it seemed more consistent that way. And bonus point, an excuse to add glitter ! \o/A couple of questions I get often :« Why is [insert other princess] not here ? »Well, if you look at Winterhalter’s painting, you’ll notice there are only 9 women, and so I had to stick to that. So yeah, obviously that’s not enough room to draw everyone. I picked the princesses I liked best or wanted to draw at that point, but feel free to make your own version with the ones you like !« Why so much watermark ? It ruins the piece ! »Because I’m really done with my stuff being stolen, cropped and savagely reposted on pages with no credit. Artists make art for everybody to enjoy, the least one can do is respect their hard work and always credit. Credit is vital to us because it gets us out there and enables clients to find us. DON’T REPOST WITHOUT PROPER CREDIT (name and link), AND DON’T CROP. Please and thank you.
Bad, Baseball, and Desk: sandersstudies My sociology professor had a really good metaphor for privilege today. She didn't talk about race or gender or orientation or class, she talked about being left-handed. A left-handed person walks into most classrooms and immediately is made aware of their left-handedness - they have to sit in a left-handed seat, which restricts their choices of where to sit. If there are not enough left-handed seats, they will have to sit in a right-handed seat and be continuously aware of their left-handedness. (There are other examples like left-handed scissors or baseball mitts as well.) Meanwhile, right-handed people have much more choice about where to sit, and almost never have to think about their right-handedness. Does this mean right-handed people are bad? No Does it mean that we should replace all right-handed desks with left-handed desks? No But could we maybe use different desk styles that can accommodate everyone and makes it so nobody has limited options or constant awareness that they are different? Yes. Now think of this as a metaphor. For social class. For race. For ethnicity. For gender. For orientation. For anything else that sets us apart madamedraconis WHY DOESN'T THIS HAVE MORE NOTES?
