Anaconda, Baller Alert, and Billboard: Baller Alert's Today in Hip-Hop: 10th Anniversary of Lil Wayne's "Lollipop 09 @balleralert WAYNE THA CARTER Baller Alert’s Today in Hip-Hop: 10th Anniversary of Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop”-blogged by @thereal__bee ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Ten years ago today, Lil Wayne released his smash single “Lollipop” from his sixth album, ‘Tha Carter III’. The song features the late rapper Static Major, with production by Deezle and Jim Jonsin. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ With his heavy auto-tuned flow, Wayne and Static created a hit that took the world by the storm. Literally, everywhere you turned, the song was live and in effect. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ To no surprise, it became of one Lil Wayne's and Static Major's most successful singles, spending five non-consecutive weeks in the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Unfortunately, Major did not live to the see the song’s success, as he died almost two weeks before song’s release. However, the song does go down in history as the eighth song to hit number one after the death of a credited artist. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The single became certified 5x Platinum by the RIAA with five million units sold in the United States. It also went on to receive multiple acknowledgments such as the number one hip-hop song of 2008 by MTV and number five on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2008.

Air Jordan, Instagram, and Life: Asahd Khaled Lands A Deal With Jordan Brand @balleralert Asahd Khaled Lands A Deal With Jordan Brand - blogged by @lanaladonna ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Someone is following in his father’s footsteps early! It has been announced that AsahdKhaled, DJKhaled’s firstborn, and star since birth (literally) has officially signed a deal with Air Jordan. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At just one-years-old, Baby Khaled is the face of Jordan’s first kid's collaboration for apparel. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Ok world here I come,” captioned Asahd on his Instagram page, announcing his major deal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to Khaled’s caption in an IG post, the collection will include a range of colorful and sporty tops, bottoms, hats, and socks that bring out the style of Asahd through the lens of the Jordan brand. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the same caption, Khaled expressed how proud he was of his son. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Today is a proud day for me not only as a father but for the young kid that still lives inside my heart. I was a kid when I was introduced to the iconic Jordan sneaker. It represented everything I wanted to be aka a winner and the flyest kid on the block. So imagine the joy I felt knowing that my son Asahd Khaled would have the opportunity to have his own partnership with the Jordan brand. @wethebestmusic” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I think it’s safe to say that Asahd is the busiest baby Hollywood’s seen. From executive producer of his first album, ‘Grateful,’ that went platinum, to an award show performer, and now this? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I guess that’s the life you live when ‘you the best.’ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Congratulations Asahd!

Guns, Kendrick Lamar, and Memes: Kendrick Lamar Said to Be Banning the Use of Cell Phones and Digital Cameras From His Concerts @balleralert DAMN KENDRICK LAMAR RIAA CERTIFIED DOUBLE PLATINUM Kendrick Lamar Said to Be Banning the Use of Cell Phones and Digital Cameras From His Concerts - blogged by: @ashleytearra ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you’re planning on attending a KendrickLamar concert, you might want to read the rules first. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to The Guardian, the Grammy award-winning lyricist will now be prohibiting the use of cell phones at his live performances. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Reportedly, the new policy was established in order to “protect Kendrick’s valuable brand and ensure that the appetite for tickets remains keen.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Additionally, it is also said that professional photography won’t be allowed either. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, this stipulation doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise. Cell phone and digital camera restrictions at concerts aren’t unusual. This actually happens quite often. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Alicia Keys, Guns N’ Roses, and the late Prince are all known for banning mobile devices from their shows. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Of course, though, if you spend your hard-earned money on a ticket, naturally, you’re going to want to capture footage for the sake of keeping good memories. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But, by putting the ban on filming-snapping photos, artists are hoping to keep the audience members more engaged and to provide potential attendees with an even better, enjoyable, and exclusive experience. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Currently, Kendrick is on the European leg of his DAMN tour, which kicked off on February 7th in Dublin.
