Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Love: Kobe Bryant Talks LeBron James: "l Think The Player That Would Fit With Me The Most, I Actually Think Would Be LeBron" @balleralert Kobe Bryant Talks LeBron James: “I Think The Player That Would Fit With Me The Most, I Actually Think Would Be LeBron” - Blogged by @tktrinidad ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Kobe Bryant, in a recent episode of “Holding Court with Geno Auriemma” podcast, said in his prime he would love to share the court with LeBron James, as a teammate. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I think the player that would fit with me the most, I actually think would be LeBron. He's a passer first, I'm a scorer, I'm a finisher. 'Bron is a facilitator by nature and I'm a finisher by nature. Those two styles, I think complement each other extremely well,” Bryant said. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You would think that Bryant would choose the GOAT, Michael Jordan but maybe the numbers say it all. In both their 15th year in the NBA, Jordan averaged 5.3 assists per game and James averaged 7.1 assists per game. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A Bryant and James combo on the court would have been a great thing to watch. But maybe with the introduction of Big 3 League, they can eventually play together. You never know, stranger things have happened.

Crazy, Memes, and New York: sTI6o01 To our fellow NewYorkers please be safe. An explosion this morning caused the authorities to evacuate one of the busiest transit hubs in New York City as the weekday was set to begin. The Police Department said in a tweet that it was responding to reports of an explosion of unknown origin at 42nd Street and 8th Avenue, where two subway stations, Times Square and Port Authority, are connected by a tunnel. The Port Authority bus station was also evacuated. Two people were in custody, a law enforcement official said. One may have been carrying a device that could have been a pipe bomb, which exploded. The official emphasized that the information was preliminary and investigators were still arriving at the scene. Commuters underground near 40th Street and 8th Avenue began to flee after a loud, muffled sound was heard in the Port Authority subway station. Police officers, firefighters and Port Authority counterterrorism officials tried to clear commuters from the bus station and the west side of 8th Avenue as sirens blared. Andre Rodriguez, 62, a caseworker at one of the city’s shelters, said he heard an explosion shortly before 7:30. “I was going through the turnstile,” he said. “It sounded like an explosion, and everybody started running.” Alicja Wlodkowski, 51, said that she had been in a restaurant inside the Port Authority when she suddenly saw a crowd of people running. “A woman fell, and nobody even stopped to help her because it was so crazy,” she said. Then it all slowed down. I was standing and watching and scared.” The Metropolitan Transportation Authority reported that 1, 2, 3, A, C, E, N, Q, R, W and 7 trains were skipping 42nd Street.- The New York Times. . . Apparently, Children, and Friends: D.L. Hughley Opens Up About The Tragic Death Of His Son, Who Was Conceived During an Affair @balleralert D.L. Hughley Opens Up About The Tragic Death Of His Son, Who Was Conceived During an Affair – blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Last week, D.L. Hughley sat down with Angela Yee and friends on her ‘Lip Service’ podcast to discuss his longstanding success and his outlook on life, amid the trial and tribulations throughout his career. During the conversation, Hughley divulged about the tragic death of his son, who was conceived through infidelity. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “So I had knocked this chick up and she had the baby and the baby got killed by her boyfriend,” the comedian revealed. “So, it was a horrible, horrible experience. I had this baby I’m paying for. I’m a boy. I’m scared. I’m married. I’m just starting out my career, and I get a call from my boy and he said, ‘Your son is in the hospital,’ and I go…So I get to the hospital, and this boy was lying in the bed and apparently her boyfriend had shaken him and damaged his brain.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Amid dealing with the tragic loss of his son, the comedian explained how he divulged to his wife his infidelity, in addition to a baby and now, the death of the baby. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I knew that one day I would be man enough to tell my woman what happened,” he said, adding that he believed children should never be left without a parent. “Finally one day, I tell my wife. You know what she said to me? ‘I wish you would’ve told me and we could’ve went through this together.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Years after finally revealing his affair and subsequent loss, the comedian and his wife ran into the then-mistress at the airport. He then introduces his wife to the woman, to which his wife says to her, “I’m so sorry for your loss.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Hughley then revealed that the incident changed how he interacts with other people and ultimately brought him closer to his wife. He now takes into consideration how his actions affect others.

Memes, Nfl, and Protest: Bucs' Gerald McCoy Thinks "It's Going To Be An Uproar" If Players Are Forced to Stand @balleralert Bucs’ Gerald McCoy Thinks “It’s Going To Be An Uproar” If Players Are Forced to Stand – blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Just one day after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell sent a letter to the league’s 32 teams in an attempt to “move past” the controversy surrounding the national anthem protest. Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman GeraldMcCoy weighed in on the letter, saying there may “be an uproar” if NFL players are forced to stand for the national anthem. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Although Goodell made it clear that he wants players to stand for the anthem, he did not say it would be required of the players. Instead, he ensured that the league would allow players to “include such elements as an in-season platform to promote the work of our players on these core issues.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, McCoy doesn’t think that will sit well with the rest of the guys. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I don’t think [the] guys are gonna like it,” McCoy said on Adam Schefter’s “Know Them From Adam” podcast, when asked about the possible reaction of the players. “I think it’s gonna be an uproar if that is to happen because you’re basically taking away a constitutional right to freedom of speech. If guys wanna have a, I guess you would call it a peaceful protest, I don’t think it’s right to take that away,” he said, although he does not plan on being involved in the protest. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What are your thoughts?

Donald Trump, Kobe Bryant, and Luke Walton: Kobe Bryant Says He Would Kneel During The Anthem If He Was Still Playing @balleralert Kobe Bryant Says He Would Kneel During The Anthem If He Was Still Playing – blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Prior to the start of NBA preseason, the league released a memo to remind teams of the rule that requires players and coaches to stand during the national anthem. Since then, a few teams have announced that they would be protesting the national anthem by locking arms, while others revealed that they will not be participating in the protest at all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, amid the ongoing controversy, Kobe Bryant says if he were still playing today, he would be kneeling during the national anthem, despite the league rule. The retired Los Angeles Laker player revealed his decision on Wednesday, on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Kneel,” Bryant said, when asked what he would do if faced with the decision. When asked what he would say if he could speak to Donald Trump, he said he’s advise the celebrity-in-chief to “focus on serving, not leading.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Bryant’s former team is one of many that have decided to lock arms during the anthem prior to the start of preseason games. The team’s coach discussed the decision last week saying, “We are in this together.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I think they chose to show that we are united in this and that obviously they have a ton of respect… well, I will let them speak for themselves, but I have a ton of respect for the country, the flag, the military,” Luke Walton said. “But by locking arms, I feel like we are showing that there are issues in this country, and it is a chance for us to raise awareness and still make it a talking point. If you do nothing, then it kind of goes away, and if it goes away, then nothing changes.”

Friday, Jay, and Jay Z: Gloria Carter Opens Up About Coming Out on Jay-Z's Song, "Smile" @balleralert Gloria Carter Opens Up About Coming Out on Jay-Z’s Song, “Smile” - blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Nearly three months after GloriaCarter’s emotional revelation on her son’s highly anticipated “4:44” album, Jay-Z’s mother is speaking out about the entire ordeal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I just finally started telling (Jay-Z) who I was. Besides your mother, this is the person that I am. This is the life that I live,” Carter said on the D’USSE Friday podcast. “So my son started actually tearing. ‘Cause he’s like, ‘That had to be a horrible life, Ma’. I was like, ‘My life was never horrible. It was just different.’ So that made him want to do a song about it.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, the song almost didn’t make the cut, as Carter wasn’t happy with it at first. Jay-Z spit lyrics that were so direct and to the point, that Carter became hesitant about the release and subsequent exposure of her personal business. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I was sharing myself with ( JayZ), not to share myself with the world. I don’t know if I’m ready for that,” she recalled. However, things took a turn when Carter revisited the words that she’d written for Jay-Z. Her words turned into poetry and eventually became the poetic break on “Smile,” that Jay-Z allowed her to speak for herself on the track. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I was never ashamed of me,” she said. “I’m tired of all the mystery. I’m gonna give it to them. I don’t have to worry about anybody wondering if I’m in the life or not. I’m gonna tell them. So now that I told you what do you have to talk about? So now maybe you can focus on the phenomenal things I do.”
