🔷End of an Error🔷 President Donald Trump’s announcement Tuesday that the U.S. is leaving the Iran deal marks the end of what his predecessor, Barack Obama, considered his main foreign policy legacy. Trump will earn credit from his supporters for keeping his promise. But in truth, the Iran deal was undone by its own terms. It did not stop Iran from enriching uranium; it did not stop Iran from building a nuclear weapon, eventually; and it did not stop Iran’s global aggression. In fact, the Iran deal was not even a deal at all. It was never signed by any of the parties (the U.S., Iran, France, the UK, Germany, China, and Russia). It was unclear about crucial subjects like ballistic missiles, because the “deal” was described differently by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and by the UN Security Council Resolutions that were meant to implement it. And, crucially, it was never sent to the U.S. Senate for ratification. Obama’s disregard for the Treaty Clause of the U.S. Constitution was of a piece with his general disregard for the constitutional constraints on the power of the federal government and the presidency. His refusal to submit the agreement to Senate scrutiny, and his party’s abuse of the filibuster to prevent even a weak Senate vote, deepened the damage that Obamacare — his other struggling “legacy,” in domestic policy — did to American civic culture. More than Obama’s autocratic style, what Trump ended is Obama’s legacy of appeasement. Barack Obama came to power convinced that the United States was at best a negative force in world affairs, and at worst the cause of the world’s problems. He believed that America could be a force for good, but only if it renounced its traditional allies, abandoned its principles of freedom, and gave up its national interests in favor of rising regional powers elsewhere. “The United States no longer issues empty threats. When I make promises, I keep them,” Trump said. Thus ended Obama’s experiment with appeasement and autocracy.: POLLAK: IN LEAVING IRAN DEAL, TRUMP ENDS OBAMA'S LEGACY OF APPEASEMENT OF THE Carsten Koall/Getty Images 🔷End of an Error🔷 President Donald Trump’s announcement Tuesday that the U.S. is leaving the Iran deal marks the end of what his predecessor, Barack Obama, considered his main foreign policy legacy. The Newest Purge Film Is Taking You Back To How It All Began With "The First Purge"- Blogged by: @RaquelHarrisTV ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For all you horror film fans, specifically of the ThePurge franchise, get ready because its fourth project is coming soon and it’s taking you back to the beginning. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The newest “Purge” film will be a prequel and will tell the story of the “first Purge night,” announced Universal-Comcast Corp. The film will be titled, “The First Purge” and will still be produced by Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes. Writer-director James DeMonaco, the original writer of the series, will be coming back and will work alongside Gerard McMurray, who will be directing. 'The First Purge' will follow the same release date as its predecessor, 'The Purge: Election Year', and will debut the weekend of 4th of July. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you’ve never seen any of the films, you might think it’s just like any other horror film. However, unlike any other scary movie 'The Purge' has continuously taken steps to highlight the injustices and greed of America, tackling issues like homelessness, racism and institutional and political oppression. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here is the synopsis of 'The First Purge': “To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA) test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community. But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the marginalized, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This time the film’s creators may just take a few jabs at Trump and his followers by the looks of their poster. Good afternoon Gothamites and have a fantastic Friday! On this day (June 16) in Batman history, two live action Batman films had its world premiered and debuted in theaters in the U.S.! The first is the 1992 film "Batman Returns" which premiered 25 years ago at the @chinesetheatres in Hollywood (it hit U.S. theaters June 19)! The commercial success of Tim Burton's 1989 film 'Batman' spawned a sequel live action movie in 1992. Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne - Batman reprises his role in "Batman Returns", going up against the corrupt business tycoon Max Shreck (Christopher Walken) who joins Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin (Danny DeVito) in order to take over Gotham City and defeat the Batman. But when Shreck's ex-assistant Selina Kyle (Michelle Pfeiffer) transforms into the seductive Catwoman, Batman has to also combat his romantic feelings for the femme fatale. Known for its dramatics from the set design to the costumes, "Batman Returns" was darker than its predecessor, the gothic tone courtesy of Batman co-creator Bob Kane as creative consultant, calling back to his character's origin from 1939. Tim Burton's 1992 sequel film "Batman Returns" was a blockbuster success. However, due to the dark tones of the film, it was not accepted by parents of young children and some sponsorship was turned down in terms of toys and merchandising. Warner Bros. then turned to producer and director Joel Schumacher to continue the Batman franchise with a lighter theme, his first Bat movie being our other anniversary we will celebrate today on History of the Batman, so stay tuned and thanks for following! ✌🏼💙🦇🎬🎉: BATMAN RETURNS TURNS 25 YEARS OLD OHISTORYOFTHEBATMAN Good afternoon Gothamites and have a fantastic Friday! Perceval began life as an IBM RISC server running AlX. Early on, it was discovered he had a genetic predis position to compute dates using two digit years. He was able to overcome this in the fall of 1999 by transitioning to Sun hardware. He spent the rest of his life running on various flavors of Sun/Oracle hardware. He lived his final years as a Virtual Machine running on a SPARC-Enterprise-T5120. Perceval chose to run the unidata database. He had other suitors through the years, but stayed true to unidata to the end. Perceval adhered to IEEE standards and was POSIX compliant. Perceval was most proud of his time spent hosting the Personal Lookup Service called PLUS. PLUS allowed students access to their records and registration in the early days of the world wide web. PLUS evolved from a menu based system called CULINE CULINE was based on gopher, a technology that was a predecessor of the World Wide Perceval worked tirelessly behind the scenes loading data from Central Computing into various enterprise systems and campus departmental systems. The Enterprise Directory IDM and the Telecom Management System are a few of these systems Perceval is survived by his peer bercilak and longtime remote host cutransfer. He was tristan, pendragon and roundtable. databases, linux and cloud computing. A private ceremony was held at the OIT Data Center. Via @carthrottlenews - Honda has revealed the all-new, 10th generation Civic Type R in Geneva - It’s the fifth-generation Civic Type R, and is based on the 10th generation Civic hatchback. Under its vented bonnet lies an evolution of the 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four from the outgoing model, “optimised” for improved throttle response, and a 10bhp increase. - That leaves the new Type R with 316bhp, plus 295lb ft of torque (unchanged from before). No word on performance stats just yet, nor the weight figure for that matter - but we’re not expecting a drastic change from the 5.7sec 0-62mph time the old one managed. - That 316bhp output is fed exclusively through the front wheels, via a six-speed manual gearbox and although the press release neglects to mention, we’re guessing the setup includes a mechanical limited-slip differential. There’s a new rev matching system too - a nice addition, but we’re hoping there’s an easy way to switch it off for those wanting to indulge in a little heel and toe. - Under the skin you’ll find adaptive dampers and a proper multi-link, independent rear suspension setup. There’s also a new drive mode selector. Where the outgoing car gave you a choice of rather hard ‘normal’ mode and an even harder ‘+R’ setting, the 10th-gen version lets you choose between ‘comfort’, ‘sport’ and ‘+R’. - The aero package is - as I’m sure you’ve gathered - thoroughly bonkers. The epitome of function over form, it goes even further than its predecessor, offering vortex generators, an even smoother underbody, a front ‘air curtain’ and the mother of all rear wings. Downforce figures haven’t been given, but Honda is promising “best-in-class balance between lift and drag”. - We’ll be doing our best to find out more about the new Type R at the Geneva Motor Show, but for now, we’ll leave you with the knowledge that you could be driving one of these hot hatch nutters as soon as the July.: Via @carthrottlenews - Honda has revealed the all-new, 10th generation Civic Type R in Geneva - It’s the fifth-generation Civic Type R, and is based on the 10th generation Civic hatchback. But Porsche still chose to knock 10bhp off the output before dropping it into the Cayman, as some sort of reminder that the 911 is top dog, despite the ‘lesser’ car having the optimum mid-engine layout. But no matter, as Porsche is apparently about to make A Cayman that’s even more powerful. - According to reports in both Auto Express and Autocar, the incoming, facelifted 911 GT3 - which will have a manual gearbox option, by the way - will use the 4.0-litre flat-six seen in the GT3 RS and R, potentially with the same 493bhp if not more. So what has that got to do with the Cayman? Well, both publications are also reporting that - according to their sources - that same 4.0-litre flat-six will make it into a Cayman ‘GT4 RS’. - Porsche admits the previous GT4 was far more popular than expected, so a follow-up of sorts makes sense. And with the 718 Cayman S being considerably quicker than its predecessor, a GT4 RS is going to need a lot of poke to sufficiently elevate it from the rest of the range. - 718 powertrain chief Matthias Hofstetter told us last year that packaging restrictions would make installing the 911 Carrera’s new turbocharged straight-six impossible without massive changes, so the retuned RS 4.0-litre N-A makes sense. It wouldn’t have as much power as the GT3 and GT3 RS of course, since that’d cause all sorts of problems for the track-focused 911s. But, if it gets the 430 or so bhp figure speculated by Autocar, it’d do what the last GT4 didn’t: go beyond the Carrera S in terms of power. - A small Cayman with a really sorted chassis and a screaming 4.0-litre engine? Assuming this all happens, that’ll be one hell of a car.: HH NEWS RX15 PZF Porsche Is Reportedly Cooking Up A 4.0-litre Cayman GT4 RS Via @carthrottlenews - As much as we love the Porsche Cayman GT4, you still get the nagging sense it was held back ever so slightly. - Here was a Cayman that had at last been given the engine it deserves, in the form of the 3.8-litre flat six from the 911 Carrera S.
