DON’T FUCKING DO THIS TO YOUR PETS Idiot people If you see someone you know doing this, report them for animal cruelty and neglect. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This posts, and many of the notes on it, are bothering me. Ladies, gentlemen, esteemed colleagues from outside the confines of the gender binary; gather ‘round. Let’s throw some science in this joint. 1. Humans. Humans are not cats. Humans are not dogs. One would think this obvious, but people have a tendency to attempt such interspecies comparisons when discussing diet. Humans are order omnivora; we have essentially evolved in a manner that attempts to give us as much dietary flexibility as possible. We do, however, require a substance called B12 (or cobalamin), which is extremely important for brain and nervous system functions, as well as the synthesis of DNA and the construction of red blood cells. We cannot produce this vitamin ourselves–no animal, plant, or fungus can. The enzymes used in cobalamin production are essentially unique to bacteria and archaea–some species of which hang out in the digestive tracks of other animals. We get cobalamin in a roundabout way from fish, shellfish, meat, eggs, milk, and dairy products. While there is no naturally-occurring, vegan source of the vitamin that has been demonstrated effective in a human study of statistically significant sample size, effective synthetic forms do exist and can be used as a substitute.  Cyanocobalamin is one of the most common and is frequently found in fortified foods and vitamins. In short: Humans are omnivores. Humans have evolved for dietary flexibility, including viable vegetarianism. Humans did not evolve for veganism (be extremely suspicious of people who tell you that we did, as they are lying), but due to modern technologies, veganism is also a viable diet that humans can thrive on, should they so choose. 2. Cats. Cats are order carnivora. Cats require (amongst other things) an amino acid called taurine. We’re not quite sure how, exactly, but we know that it’s extremely important to feline heart wall tissue, retinal tissue, and brain tissue amongst other things. Cats cannot manufacture their own taurine, and must get it from other sources–primarily shellfish, fish and meat. Taurine breaks down when heated, so feeding your cat a home-cooked diet rich in this foods is also not necessarily a good idea (talk to a vet). Secondary (read: SUPPLEMENTARY. NOT A SOLE SOURCE OF TAURINE.) sources of taurine for cats include dairy, eggs, and seaweed- or yeast-based taurine supplements. In nature, cats don’t really need to worry about getting enough taurine, because (as you may have noticed), taurine sources are indeed the things that cats tend to catch and eat. However, a cat that lives in a human household is dependent on humans for food, and sometimes humans are utter fucktrucks. In short: Cats are obligate carnivores. Their primary source of nutrition is meat. They must eat meat, preferably as close to raw as possible. They have digestive tracks designed for digesting meat. There are vegan/vegetarian cat kibbles on the market. Do not buy them. Your cat is neither vegan nor vegetarian, and if you adjust their diet as if they were, you are a terrible person who is harming and possibly killing your pet. You suck. End of discussion. 3. Dogs. Dogs are slightly more nuanced here. They are facultative carnivores–meaning that they optimally should eat meat, but can survive on other things if resources are scare. Dogs also need the amino acid taurine, but can technically manufacture it themselves if the proper building blocks are in their diets. They also need vitamin D–D3 is preferable, but D2 can be used to some degree. Dogs are somewhere between us (the true omnivore) and the cat (the true carnivore). A vegan or vegetarian diet will keep a dog alive, certainly, but is unlikely to allow your pet to thrive as it lacks the recommended nutrients. You should probably be feeding your dog meat. The exception here–some dogs are allergic to conventional dog foods, or find symptoms of certain diseases alleviated by vegetarianism. In this case, a veterinarian (not you, layperson, I mean an actual trained veterinarian) may determine that the benefits of putting your dog on a vegetarian/vegan diet outweigh those of feeding your dog meat. This is relatively rare, but does occasionally happen. And no, actually, the oldest dog is not vegan–Bramble is the only dog on this list that I found had some indication of veganism. The oldest dog on record is an Australian Kelpie named Maggie, who was not vegan. It is more likely that Bramble lived that long despite the veganism, not because of it. In short: If a vet thinks that your dog may be allergic to dog food/require a special diet and recommends you try feeding it a vegetarian/vegan diet, listen to your vet. Otherwise? Dogs are carnivora. They do need vegetables and other sources of nutrients, but their optimal fuel, as it were, is meat. Your dog needs meat to be happy. Fucking feed your dog.  Now, I did manage to find two veterinarians who disagree with every other study I dug up and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Their articles are here and here. They don’t really have sources, and are essentially wholly dependent on anecdotal evidence (“my dog is a vegetarian and hasn’t died!”), but for those of you data cherry-pickers reading this, there you go.  As a rule, dogs and cats need meat. If that makes you uncomfortable, that is your problem, not theirs. If you try to implement a vegan or vegetarian diet for your pets because you implemented one for yourself, you shouldn’t have those pets. That is animal abuse. (By the way, those of you not feeding your cats and non-allergic dogs the food they need to survive and thrive? What the fuck is wrong with you? Do you not love your pets?) TL;DR If you do not want a pet that must be fed meat, you should under no circumstances acquire a cat or a dog. Thank you for your time. Being Alone, Apparently, and Bad: Sp3ctre7171 points 3 hours ago You are absolutely correct 1) Miro learned to use the mobility of Winston, as well as his primal, to invent modern dive. He learned all of the tips and tricks and extracted extra value out of the hero that few realized was there. In doing so, he created a role that used main tank as an offensive centerpiece and threat to the backline, and all of a sudden flank heroes weren't alone. A poorly protected ana in the back could be beset by multiple members of the enemy team without much warning. However, this required both new gamesense from miro, and innovations in lucio play from Tobi. Specifically, tobi was able to peel for jehong better than many players thought was possible, compensating for the lack of defensive shields. The compounding innovation led to LH being an offensive threat at every position, and it made it possible for them to do the miraculous turnarounds that defined their APEX championship runs Playing against them was exhausting, as is expected from a team where any one member can wipe you out if left unchecked. 2) Gesture's contribution was twofold. Firstly, he extracted more value out of winston's kit on the defensive side, learning how to use primal both to continue an attack, and to peel for his own back line, which leads into his second main development. That being, under Gesture the final decision was made to transfer shotcalling duties from the main support (lucio and later mercy) and onto the main tank, primarily because engagements were no longer dictated by speed boost, but by the dive from the main tank. Together with the rest of GC Busan, Gesture planned, called, and executed crisp dives that were far better timed and aimed than those of old LH. Whereas Miro's dives were a terror because you would be under attack from multiple divers, the style that Gesture led the way on involved being instantly deleted by a full dive, where a healer pair could be hit with burst from multiple heroes in the same instant. This in turn changed the Winston interplay into a mind game, where there was a choice to be made between deleting the enemy's backline and attempting to save your own. Winston players were forced to learn how to make each leap and pincer engage perfect, or they would simply lose the fight Permalink Embed Save Parent Report Give Gold Reply Sp3ctre7160 points 3 hours ago (Continued) 3) what guxue is introducing is a Winston as the focus of a dive, not just the linchpin. While that sounds like the same thing previously, the Winston would be used to coordinate dives and call the timing, but with Guxue, resources are poured into the Winston to make sure that he can have offensive value. Both because Winston can do damage to the whole team at once (and thus build ult insanely fast against teams pocketing a zen, or against GOATS comps), but also because Winston can simultaneously disrupt the escape methods for healers AND bypass most of the ways in which healers are protected, such as matrix and shields Guxue's innovations are most similar to miro's in that they are mostly focused on a single player's style and that one hero's impact in a game. Changing the offensive presence of a hero is impactful and increases the visible skill gap between good and bad teams, but the effects are mostly limited to that one hero. For that reason, I think that the innovations brought forth by Gesture (and many others) are the most important to the development of modern Winston play, in that they represented a fundamental change in the whole shotcalling and tactical philosophy of dive teams, and opened the gates to the more complex and match specific strategies that we saw in the overwatch league owldesk: some really good tank playstyle analysis on reddit (as a side note, this guy is apparently gonna have analysis articles out soon and you better BELIEVE i’m gonna link them bc if they’re anything like this write up they’ll be great)

Books, Bored, and Call Me Maybe: Medieval Village and Bored Assholes uck stome some background: I work weekends at a small medieval village about an hour outside of town. We're not hugely popular, but we always have at least 30-50 people in the village, and it's always* the same types of people: the enthusiastic little kids in costumes, the high teenagers, the adult cosplayers the newlyweds, and the lonely bored men who want nothing more than the rush of catching you on something historically inaccurate. T play the scribe and run the bookshop, because l can do calligraphy and I know some Latin. it's primarily a store though, and people are supposed to buy books or calligraphy commissions. Mostlye just want me to write their name fancy. It's pretty straightforward But one day this guy comes wandering in with this sneer and I just know he's gonna be a dick. give him my usual scripted welcome, and out of the gate he asks how it's historically accurate for the town scribe to be a woman I have an answer prepared, saying something about my father keeping the ledgers and never having a son, so he taught me my letters and sent me to the local priest to learn my Latin. He asks a handful more uncomfortable obnoxious questions and all I can think is T'm on minimum wage to the cent, I'm stuffed into a starched frock, and l'm clearly just a local teenager" but l keep smiling and tolerating it.T answer all of his questions correctly until bored asshole (BA): "So if you learned your Latin from a priest I'm sure you can say an authentic medieval latin prayer for me now?" and I kinda freeze, because l'm Jewish and don't know any Christian prayers at all, and the only Latin I can remember was from a class project where we translated pop songs into various languages me: "eho te convenivi tamquam et hic furor est sed hic numerus meus est ita invoca me fortasse" BA is finally shut up and satisfies and leaves (without buying anything) and content not knowing that the blessing was the chorus of Call Me Maybe The most heartfelt prayer in any language

Being Alone, Animals, and Bad: Katmai National Park&Preserve added 3 new photos. Yesterday at 1:03pm- The people have spoken. 480 Otis has been voted the #FatBearTuesday Champion! It was a close race, and many worthy opponents gave it their all, which we applaud them for. Not all bears have what it takes to survive in the unforgiving land of Alaska, let alone make as prosperous a living as 480 Otis. Needing to eat a year's worth of food in less than 6 months is a difficult obstacle to overcome. It's survival of the fattest in the bear world, and 480 Otis has found some seriously successful strategies for plumping up. Fishing primarily in the far pool (AKA Otis's office,) 480 stays out of harm's way, avoiding more dominant bears like 856 and 747, who prefer to fish in the productive "jacuzzi" area. With patience and learned experience, Otis saves his energy by remaining in one place all day, converting salmon into the maximum amount of lard around his belly. It's earned him his second title for fattest bear, but also earned him a great chance at surviving the long, harsh winter ahead. Otis may not be the most dominant or lively bear around, but he is the fattest. Cheers to you, Otis. i-am-jayde: triplehamburgerjack: rosepetalbath: I’m proud of him He is just fucking great. Fat pets who are obviously unhealthy:  Bad Wild animals who are fat because of humans:  Bad Wild animals who are supposed to be fat:  Good Wild animals who have gotten super fat because they’re just that good at survival:  Very Good

One acre of hemp produces as much cellulose fiber pulp as 4.1 acres of trees!!! This is super useful for so many things, especially paper production! In addition, hemp takes in carbon dioxide 4x as fast as trees do, which makes it especially valuable in the act of reducing CO2 emissions/greenhouse gases! 🌲🌲🌲 source  #the scope of the anti-hemp conspiracy in the united states is terrifying once you start doing research tbh#like it was initially smeared/banned bc lumber lobbyists pushed for it to be…#and a major smear tactic was to associate it with black people#who now a hundred years later are the ones primarily being imprisoned for it#and the plant itself has now been inextricably linked to the drug so people won’t even allow for it to be grown for commercial purposes#like paper making (via literallyfuckeveryone) Important reminder that industrial hemp can’t be used as a recreational drug, so if anyone tries to pull that card you can just stop them then and there. There are no real arguments against using industrial hemp, even if you’re rigidly against the legalization of any recreational drugs. AYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY I never see pro-hemp on my dash, woo! Usually the argument on why you can’t have hemp is because then people will hide marijuana in it. yeah, sure…. if they want shitty, shitty marijuana. It would be like growing sweet corn and dent corn together.  Yeah, they look similar at a distance and they’re closely related, but you don’t want them next to each other as they’ll cross pollinate and you’ll end up with bad versions of both. Same deal here.  a patch of marijuana grown in an open field of hemp IS going to get contaminated and it’ll lower quality of BOTH crops.  Your hemp farmer doesn’t want that and if likely going rip out any patches trespassers try to add for same reason.  and the big issue is not even the THC content.  Because most quality marijuana is intended to be grown indoors or greenhouses, its a dwarf variety. Short.  Fiber hemp is bred for height so as to maximize fiber production.  super tall. It’s going to be really obvious, really fast if you’ve got both in the same field even before you get to the point of pollination. what’s this runty bullshit doing in my field? They also have different growing needs with regards to spacing, harvest time, etc. so the argument that you can hide marijuana in industrial hemp fields are basically bullshit. anyway… aside from paper, hemp fiber can also be used to make earthquake resistant concrete that’s actually LIGHTER than conventional concrete while being stronger. It’s better at resisting flexing or warping, so ideal for stuff like bridges and highway supports as it’ll better resist large temperature swings and vibration. (”hempcrete” is slightly different, but makes great fire resistant insulation) You can also use the waste after fiber harvest for animal fodder, including silage. Comparable to corn. and remember, that’s the waste after you’ve harvested for fiber! Just to add, it can be used for paper, concrete, insulation, cloth and rope (both rough like sack cloth and smooth like cotton), bio degradable plastics (oddly same for banana trees I believe) and then of course for things like fishing lines and nets etc. It’s a very versatile and useful plant that has been used for hundreds or maybe even thousands of years for material uses, and with modern advances is becoming even more useful thanks to chemical engineering and similar.

I just studied for two years about this shit. I live in a dairy town - 70% of my district is dairy. I have lived breathed and worked C O W S for almost 730 days. Sit your uneducated ass down and listen to an expert. Do you have any idea how difficult this industry is to work in cause animal welfare nuts like you have no idea what theyre talking about? We HAVE to treat our animals with care and respect, not just becuase some dumb bint doesnt understand how cows react to being ill, but because its our job. They feed us. They are our jobs. They are living breathing beasts just like us, and they deserve care and respect. So lets break down that video, if youll lend me your attention for another five minutes. Cows are not immediately taken away from their mother. They are allowed to stay with their mother for one day, which is when they recive an important immuno boost froom their mothers milk - which will allow them to survive their first few months of life. Before their mother is too attached to them, they are put in hutches, which keep them safe from cold, cars, and predators, which cows cant fight while producing milk becuase all of their energy is used for all their milk. Calfs are being protected the best way we can protect them. We feed them all the high-cell count milk by the way - which is alot anyway; cos newsflash my veggie-guzzling pals, cows make too much milk for their calf to feed on. Thats why we harvest it. They have a surplus. Growing calves require 5 litres a day, if that. Cows produce 30 litres a day. Thats 25 litres that would be sitting in a cows udder, opening the way for infection (as teat infection comes primarily from teats ducts not closing, becuase theyre still full of milk) and exhaustion, becuase 25 litres of milk is 25 extra kilos hanging between your legs. Not fucking fun. Also, sexual exploitation? Do you not? Realise that the whole purpose of an animals life, accordig to their very own instincts, is reproduction? No other purpose. Literally none. Cows cant become doctors, or teachers or rocket scientists. They cant. All they can do is eat, shit, breathe, moo and eventually die. When we take the excess milk, we also make that rather mundane 20-year lifespan and make it much cushier. They mature at 18 months, by the way. Not 12. Plus, cows actually dont reach maturity and full growth stages until theyve been pregnant once. Their bones dont finish solidifying until theyve had one calf, which opens the birth canal and helps their pelvis accommodate walking. The whole reason you think that this is them being mistreated is becuase you dont understand that they dont get pregnancy issues like we do. They also have nothing else to do in their lives. Cows have emotions and deserve respect, but they are not people, and the same standards one sets for the treatment of people should not be the standard one expects of treatment of a cow. Bulls are huge, and will hurt the cow. Always. We artificially inseminate becuase its faster, safer and more likely to result in confirmed pregnancy. It also reduces the occurrence of birth defects. Cows colons are huge. Theyre three times the size of us. An arm going up there is in no way harmful, and actually helps us identify cow health. I guess maybe the reason you think that thats gross is because fisting hurts humans so much. Refer to my previous “cow standards =/= human standards” statement you kinky pricks. Cows are not emotionally and physically exhausted by milking. Thats it. thats all i have to say on that matter. They are fed, their health is checked on constantly and they are surrouned by a herd or at least a few other cows 24/7. Theyre mentally and emotionally fucking solid, ok? They are usually totally and completely unfazed their entire lives. The only thing that can really stress out a cow is a human worker acting like a dick. Theyre not that emotionally complicated. Okay. Sick cows. Guess what? Cows cant tell us when theyre sick. This comes from the fact that theyre herbivores. Sickness or injury makes them a target for predators. So they shut the fuvk up and try to ignore it. What champs. But seriously, cows make 0 fuss when theyre sick. Those cranes? Downed cows sometimes dont get enough calcium, becuase their body poured its entire reserve into the milk. So they will lie down, not make a sound and wait for death, basically. The longer shes down the harder it is for her to get up, so we have to pump calcium into her from a bag and hold her up so her legs dont a t r o p h y underneath her. Bobby calves, or male calves, are sold for veal. It is the darkest secret in the dairy industry and we are not proud of it. But their throats are not slit. All cows that are killed for beef are shot in the precise spot on their head that will kill them instantly and painlessly. Listen, i dont mind if you want to swear off beef or pork or whatever. Fine. You do you. But ask someone whos actually educated on this subject before you attempt to paint millions of hard working people as animal abusers becuase you dont understand how something works, or use that misinformation to try and make people agree with you.

Beyonce, Definitely, and Drinking: iwontdancenetwork: 7 Choreographers Who Are Dominating K-Pop In 2016  There are so many things that add to the colors of K-Pop, but the dances are obviously a focal point for most fans. So when a group pairs an amazing song with an equally amazing dance, it’s common for fans to want to know about the choreographer. Many groups work with choreographers from all over the world, some of whom claim to save their best moves for the K-Pop teams they believe can achieve the desired results. Dance is an art form, after all! Here are a few choreographers riding the K-Pop wave and making a splash in 2016. Some have been around for years, while some are newer to the scene. Whether fans know them or not, they’re all definitely worth checking out. BLAZER PYO A choreographer under JYP Entertainment, Blazer Pyo has been helping train artists in the company for awhile, including miss A’s Suzy. During the first episode of MNet’s “Hit the Stage,” he became a trending topic on Naver after performing with TWICE’s Momo. It’s always nice when a dancer from a big company gets some spotlight! Catch Momo’s “Hit the Stage” performance, or enjoy the performance video below, taken at a workshop at NY Dance School. KEONE MADRID Keone Madrid made waves when he was credited with choreographing BTS’s “Fire,” featuring moves the dancer claims are difficult for even professional dancers. Keone Madrid is one half of a husband-wife dance team that can be spotted in Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” video. While it’s a shame he didn’t get to work with BTS directly, we hope to see him choreograph for more K-Pop groups in the future. You can check out some more of Keone Madrid’s moves in the video below. SUGAWARA KOHARU Sugawara Koharu is a Japanese choreographer gaining prowess in Japan, having just opened her own company. Shawols will recognize her name immediately, as she was introduced to the K-Pop world after choreographing Taemin’s Japanese solo, “Goodbye.” She also made a special appearance with Taemin on “Hit the Stage” and you can watch the pair’s impressive choreography in the video below. KO KYUNGJUN Ko Kyungjun is a main choreographer and dancer of the DQ Agency Dance Team, which works primarily with Starship Entertainment. While the group certainly isn’t new to the scene, 2016 is definitely shaping up to be their year. Ko Kyungjun not only did the choreography of ASTRO’s two title songs, but also for SISTAR and Monsta X as well. The dance team also worked with Monsta X’s Shownu in Episode 1 of “Hit the Stage.” While we anticipate DQ’s next dance project, enjoy the choreography from Monsta X’s “Stuck.” ASTRO’s ROCKY DQ Agency may be responsible for the choreography of both of Fantagio Entertainment’s new boy group ASTRO’s title songs, but one of the youngest members of ASTRO, Rocky, has been making a splash with his own choreography. His dance skills have slowly gained attention and he’s been allowed roles in assisting with the choreography for both lead songs, as well as choreographing the song “Fireworks” off the group’s latest album. Rocky was an assistant choreographer for the SBS Inkigayo Special UDF Stage “Six-Pack” and will also appear on “Hit the Stage” on August 24. Catch Rocky’s choreography for “Fireworks” below. KYLE HANAGAMI Kyle Hanagami worked with numerous artists before making waves with his strong choreography for Red Velvet. In 2013, he launched a special project called “Letters of Love” to raise money for cancer research; he was diagnosed with leukemia a year later. Today, he still fits in “Letters of Love” and his personal battle with the illness while wowing K-Pop fans with his latest choreography – now that’s dedication. Kyle’s latest project is for YG Entertainment’s new girl group BlackPink. His hype is earned and it seems that nothing can keep this dancer down. Catch a peek of some of his choreography outside of K-Pop below.  Choreography to “Yonce” by Beyonce 1MILLION Dance Studios It’s a big ocean, but 2016 is dominated by dancers who hail from 1 Million Dance School. Kim Tae Woo, also known as Kasper, calls the school home. Kasper, who teaches dance at SM Entertainment, recently making headlines with his appearance on SBS’s “Starking.” He tours with SM Town and also recently appeared in Taeyeon’s “Why” video. The choreographer behind Taemin’s “Drip Drop,” Choi Jun Ho, is also from 1 Million, J.Ho. Lastly, the dancer paired with INFINITE’s Hoya for his Usher “Good Kisser” special concert stage is also from this school. If an artist works with a dancer from 1 Million this year, you can count on some magic happening. Beautiful, Clothes, and Family: f every pork chop were perfect we wouldnit hayelhotdogs preludeinz: jasminekor: I think one of my favourite things about “Steven Universe”, and one of the things I find most touching and personally affirming, is the relationship between Rose Quartz and Greg. I mean, here’s Rose, who’s represented as this powerful, intelligent, charismatic, beautiful woman, respected as both a warrior and a leader.  She travels to Earth and decides to spend her life there, and in 6000 years, the human she decides is most interesting, most engaging, most beautiful…is Greg.   Greg is a doofus.  He’s bald.  He’s fat.  He’s a slob with no sense of style or grooming.  He’s practically homeless.  He’s a failed rock and roll star whose dreams of fame and fortune ended with him running a small town car wash and living in the back of an ancient van. In any other show, he would be the loser of the cast, the fuck-up, the somewhat lovable, helpless goofball who can’t be counted on for anything. But Rose thought he was beautiful. It’s something of a sitcom parody; the dimwitted, ugly, slovenly husband with the beautiful, intelligent wife.  Fred and Wilma, Archie and Edith, Peter and Lois, Homer and Marge.  But Rose and Greg’s relationship isn’t like that.  Even in my favourite of those relationships, that of Marge and Homer, Homer is presented as more than a bit of a jerk.  Oh, he’s a fundamentally decent man who genuinely loves his family and treasures his wife, but he’s also selfish, thoughtless, more than occasionally neglectful, lazy, and self-centered.  And more than that, in those shows, the husband is really the main character.  Most of the wife’s role is reacting to his antics.  But that’s not Rose and Greg’s story. Greg is a good man.  Not just a decent guy under the jerky exterior, but a truly and fundamentally good man.  He stands up to his misogynist buddy.  He adores and encourages his son in every way.  He is kind and giving to everyone he meets.  He works hard, even though it’s a job that he never wanted and that has taken the place of his dream.  Speaking of that, even though he’s never seen even a lick of the stardom he dreamed of, Greg has never lost sight of his ambitions.  He still plays music, still sings, still performs, still writes albums.  Greg may never make it as a rock star, but he will never stop trying.  This is what Rose saw.  This is what Rose, one of the most powerful and respected warriors and generals of her people, came to love. In a world where success and worth are measured primarily in material gains and career-based achievements, Greg is a reminder of what’s truly important.  In the show, his failed music career, his chubby build, his sloppy clothes, his poverty…they don’t matter.  What’s emphasised is the true, human beauty of Greg; the warmth, the kindness, the courage, the imagination, the dedication to art and devotion to family.  It’s a reminder to all of us who have been pushed to be “successful”, been hassled about when we were “going to get serious”…that even if we are living in poverty, even if we have no real career, even if we’re not conventionally attractive or haven’t achieved all we’ve wanted to…we still have value.  We still have beauty.  And we are still loved. oh man I have been wanting to ramble about greg for a while now. because my favourite thing about Steven is that his stereotypically feminine traits—the fact that he’s empathetic and caring, the fact that he’s a bit of a diva, the fact that he’s creative and musical and sensitive—none of that comes from Rose. Rose is a towering pink goddess who is shaped like a woman and named after a flower, but what she passes on to Steven is righteousness and conviction and a desire to protect humanity. Visually, Rose is this towering icon of femininity, but she’s also a goddamn War Queen. Demonstrably she’s more than a little out of touch with human emotions, she’s occasionally a bit crass and distant and superior. Emphatically not human, but also the more stereotypically masculine, compared to Greg. As far as the softer parts of Steven’s personality, that’s all Greg. And as noted above, Greg is just a beautiful human being. I adore him and I love this post 3 3 3
