America, Complex, and Confused: NEWS aRAMA Home Comics Film&Tv Games Countdowns Previews Topics a Newsarama> Films & TV DC's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW's New Muslim Superhero A Response To TRUMP By Chris Arrant, Editor August 2, 2017 03:20pm ET G+ Credit: Fabrizio Fiorentino (DC Comics) DC Comics superhero Isis will be joining DC's Legends of Tomorrow in its upcoming third season under her real name of Zari Adrianna Tomaz (played by Tala Ashe), and the fact that the character is a practicing Muslim is a choice show producer Marc Guggenheim said was made specifically in response to the election of U.S. President Donald Trump Credit: The CW "You might have heard there was this election," said Guggenheim during this week's Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills (as quoted by Variety). "Not to get political, but something that we al gravitated toward in the writers room was making this character Muslim." "Representation is a really powerful thing," added Ashe. "When I was growing up watching television, I didn't see anyone who looked like me. When I think of the kid version of myself, I think it broadens your perspective. What I think is so lovely about this show is that the Legends are this tapestry that represent America today." According to Variety, Guggenheim said that DC's Legends of Tomorrow doesn't look to define a character by their race, religion, or sexual orientation but did so in this case following the election, in part due to the experiences of a family member who is Muslim "She was talking about how difficult it is to be a Muslim-American in the current political climate," said Guggenheim. "Having a character who's a computer hacker and is from the future but also happens to be Muslim, it's a nice, important aspect of her character." Guggenheim said that the usage of DC Comics' Isis was also done add more women to the cast. "There weren't enough women quite frankly," he said. "It's something we were looking to address." DC's Legends of Tomorrow is scheduled to return for its third season October 10 on the CW. In fact, it’s representative of what I posted above. America, Love, and Memes: Dear America, True hate is often hard to define, but easy to identify once it has been seen..... Now being declared a State of Emergency: The actions that have taken place today in Charlottesville, VA can be defined as nothing else but.... Hatred, Bigotry, and Racism ALL of these words apply to what is currently taking place and I assure you that every action that has happened today is wrong and is the very thing that we as REAL Americans should stand together AGAINST! As our President said earlier today.... "No matter our color, creed, religion, or political party, we are ALL Americans first!" Patriotism is NOT Racism..... However, The actions by soo many today are the reasons soo many people have problems separating the two words. The simple lie of using the term "patriot" to fuel your own selfish and racist false narratives of the way you think the world should be.... Is nothing more than monstrous and repugnant. Today my thoughts and prayers are for the people affected in Charlottesville......now is the time for reflection on what to do next and hopes of a speedy recovery for those injured and prayers for the families of the ones not coming home. Tomorrow, on the other hand..... Is time for the REAL Americans to come and stand together UNITED against those that want to tear us apart through false narratives and false statements of patriotism to simply fuel their hatred. Tomorrow..... It's time we all simply said.....enough! We are Americans......ALWAYS! -Graham🇺🇸 USA patriotism freedom love equality nohate

A Dream, Bad, and Blade: she took the midnight train going anywhere NEW YORKERS KEEP NEW YORK SAFE I just had a dream that could totally be the plot of the next big horror movie...it was this little boy and his father living in my old house and the boy had no idea who his mother was but as he started to get older this black figure-mass started appearing to him telling him it was his mother and it would plant bad ideas in his mind and the boy and his father were part of some religion that seemed kind of like a cult and one day after the black mass visited the boy while he was in his garage a glowing woman appeared to him and she was like the goddess of whatever religion they were part of and she was telling him that she could see the inside of his mind and could see the terrible thoughts he was having and she was extremely disappointed in him and that as the goddess of the religion, she was his mother and he didn't need to worry about that question (but the goddess wasn't aware of the black mass appearing to him) but the goddess disappeared when the boy's father quietly entered the garage (the boy was hiding and was unaware) and he was being followed by his neighbor who was also part of the religion and they were arguing and eventually started fighting and the father ended up the the ground and another angry neighbor showed up and started puncturing the fathers thigh repeatedly with this semicircular stamp blade and the boy knew something was going on so he came out of hiding and the neighbors ran away and he saw his father on the ground and bleeding ad got scared and angry and started to (unintentionally or not, I am unsure) summon the black figure who claimed to be his mother who, if unleashed, would most definitely wreak havoc everywhere...then I woke up

Anaconda, Bad, and Feminism: Early Feminists: Oh hey, we see that you can vote. We would like to vote also. I mean, since most of those laws effect us too and all Me YOU JUST WANT SUPERIORITY OVER MEN! Mid-century Feminists: Hey, that whole thing about how you can have careers and earn a living wage outside the home? Yes that sounds nice, we'd 1ike the option to do that as well. Men: YOU WANT A MATRIARCHY, THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT! Late 20th century Feminists: Hey we would like to make our own choices about ou reproductive health, just like you've always had. Men YOU ARE TRYING TO TAKE MEN'S RIGHTS AWAY! Modern-day feminists: Hey, if you could you stop sexually assaulting/harassing us and then blaming us for it, that'd be pretty great. Men: THIS IS MISANDRY, MISANDRY I SAY! FEMINISTS HAVE GONE TOO FAR! Feminists: Um Men: THE END OF MEN IS NIGH MALE OPPRESSION IS REAL! THE MATRIARCHAL AGE IS UPON US! Repost from @galaxyfeminism · and yes obviously *not all men* are like this, this is talking about those who are & how the feminist movement has continuously been met with opposition and hate. That's why it is frustrating when people now say "I support early feminist movements but I hate what feminism is now." That means "when it was explicitly stated in the law that women had fewer rights, that was bad, but now that women can vote and own land they just need to stop complaining about other sexist things because some women in other countries can't even vote!!!1!" Saying you have gender equality because women in your country have more rights than women in other countries is like saying you did well on the test because you got a 50% but some people got a 30% so it's okay. Strive for 100%. Let's hold ourselves to a higher standard than defining equality as "it's not explicitly stated that you don't have certain rights (*except in certain cases where local laws do restrict access to birth control-bodily autonomy or try to ban trans people from bathrooms or try to restrict rights of LGTBQ+ people)." Equality under the law doesn't necessarily result in actual equal treatment, whether you're looking at discrimination based on race, religion, gender, class, sexuality, etc. This is especially noticeable regarding race and the treatment of black people in the US, as when slavery became illegal the prison system became an institution that essentially legalized slavery (if you are not familiar with this, watch "13th" or Google "why the us prison system is legalized slavery"). And just because something is legal doesn't mean it's ethical, let's not pretend the government is the epitome of morality 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃

Africa, Community, and Dreads: Miami-Dade Largest Vegan & Vegetarian Restaurant is Black Owned & Delicious! HUNGRY LAC While vegetarianism and veganism are on the rise in the African-American-Black community; it’s still a relatively new frontier for our people, especially African-Americans. Vegetarianism was relatively low in West Africa, home to our ancestors, so changing your entire diet to a plant based one can be challenging. Following the coronation of Haile Selassie I as Emperor of Ethiopia in 1930, Black vegetarians in the western hemisphere began to rise in large part due to Rastafarianism—a religion developed in Jamaica in the 1930s and rawfoodist such as famous African-American comedian Dick Gregory. Both these factors were contributing forces to the early stages of Black dietary shifts in the U.S, in addition to the phenomenal soulful flavors used in creating African and Caribbean inspired vegan and vegetarian dishes. Vegetarian Restaurant by Hakin, located at 73 NE 167th Street in North Miami Beach, FL 33162 is continuing the delicious tradition of vegan and vegetarian soulful innovation. Just steps away from all three major highways and Jackson Hospital North, the restaurant sits right off 163rd street in an unassuming strip mall with a gigantic sign outside that reads VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT. To be honest, I have driven by this place a trillion times and never stopped. I just wasn’t interested in Vegetarian food in my 20’s, but now, I want to live so I made that stop out of curiosity and have been a customer since! Various organic and natural products are on display near the entrance and to the right, there is a full fledged mini health food store. I was even able to pick up some shea butter and organic oils for my dreads! The restaurant has been in continuous operation for over seven years in the same location. A recent expansion will allow for larger dine in parties in a semi private dining space. Owner and operator Hakin, plans to make his restaurant not only the largest Black owned, but largest vegetarian and vegan restaurant in Miami-Dade period. blackhealthmatters blackownedbusiness afrovegan blackvegan vegan rawvegan fruitarian plantbaseddiet alkalinefoods cellfood electricfood melanindiet SOURCE:https:-www.google.com-amp-s-thehungryblac

Beautiful, Life, and Memes: The best dawah is your manners. The best naseeha is vour example. Spread the beauty of Islam by living it, as an example for others to follow. @islamteveryone Allah never promised this life would be easy, but He did promise that He would be with you every step of the way. "And He is with you wherever you are" (57:4) - The following is a touching story about a new Muslim and his mother. Before he was a muslim, he lived with his mother until he was about 18 years old. Then he moved out his home and lived in a different place on his own During those days, he met some Muslims and became a very close friend of them. Eventually he himself became a Muslim after learning about the beautiful religion of Islam from them. He made an effort every day, he came to learn about the benefits of being good to one's parents. He learned that a person who looks at his parents with the eyes of obedience gets the reward of one accepted Hajj! After knowing this he decided to visit for mother whom he did not visit for many years. He bought some flowers & fruits for her on his way. His mother was very pleased to see him after so long. He started spending lots of time with her mother on a regular basis. During his visits, he would stare at his mother & tears would roll down from his eyes. The mother noticed this happening many times & asked him one day the reason why he visits her so much all of a sudden & why he cries. He told her about how he became a Muslim & that the position of a mother in Islam is very high. He also told her about the reward he gets for looking at her. But while looking at her, he cries because the mother is not a Muslim and would not be able to save herself if she dies in this state. The mother immediately recognized the beauty of Islam and became a Muslim. SubhanAllah! So beautiful. The best dawah is your manners. The best naseeha is your example. Spread the beauty of Islam by living it, as an example for others to follow.
