Best Buy, Computers, and Doctor: FBl Has Been Working with Best Buy's Geek Squad to Crack Down on Child Porn Found on People's Computers @balleralert EST BUY FBI Has Been Working with Best Buy’s Geek Squad to Crack Down on Child Porn Found on People's Computers-blogged by @thereal__bee ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ According to reports, the FBI has been working with Best Buy’s Geek Squad computer repairmen for almost a decade. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The FBI reportedly paid the employees to flag and disclose illegal content that they found on people’s computers, specifically in reference to child pornography. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ According to the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s account, if a Geek Squad employee finds potentially illegal content on a computer during inspection, they are to contact the FBI and notify them. The agents then review the content, if it is illegal, they then seize the device. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ In at least one incident, the FBI reportedly paid a Geek Squad employee $500 for reporting illegal content. They then proceeded to use him as an informant. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ After the prosecution of a California doctor for child abuse imagery found on his computer, the EFF filed a Freedom of Information request to get more knowledge about the extent of the relationship between Geel Squad employers and the FBI. According to reports, the results show that it “circumvents computer owners’ Fourth Amendment rights.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Best Buy insists that they have a moral, and sometimes, legal, obligation to “report these findings to law enforcement,” as they are helping “discover and thwart illegal, abusive behavior,” reports Buzzfeed. However, the retailer assures consumers that they do not actively seek out illegal material and that employees have not received training from law enforcement to “learn how to find it,” reports Fortune.com

Clock, Disappointed, and Fresh: KEEP GRINDING YOUR DAY IS COMING! Keep grinding, even if you don’t feel like it! No matter what kind of work you do, you'll always have days you don’t feel motivated. Running a business is exciting and challenging, but also boring and mundane sometimes. It’s human nature to get distracted, frustrated and disappointed now and then. The key is knowing how to get back on track so your business doesn’t suffer. 🤔 ✔️Make a schedule. Not reporting to an office every day or punching a clock can be an amazing thing. It also can pose a tremendous challenge. You can wake up when you want, take breaks when you want, eat when you want and stop working when you want. With so much autonomy, it's important to discipline yourself by setting a daily schedule. That’s key! ✔️Take breaks throughout the day. Design your daily schedule with short breaks in mind. Limit each to 10 or 20 minutes, or you risk getting swept into a sucking hole of unproductivity. These breaks are particularly helpful if you're struggling with a problem. Take a step back, focus on something else, and come back with fresh eyes. Consider taking a quick walk outside or engaging in some other form of activity. Get a glass of water, meditate or surf social media to shift your mindset. ✔️Take advantage of flexibility. Nowhere is it written that you have to stare at a computer screen in your own home or workspace every day. Try changing it up: Work from a coffee house one day, a library the next and a park the day after that. Changing your scenery will keep you on your toes and might even pique your creativity. ✔️Think about the future. You set goals when you first started your business, and you know you must continue to adapt those objectives as time goes on. If you feel yourself procrastinating or getting distracted, ask yourself how meeting those goals will affect your future. Where do you want your business to be in six months, a year, or five years? How will your daily work help you achieve your ambitions? And how much better will your personal and professional life be once you reach each milestone? KEEP grinding! Your time will come. - success grind millionairementor

Memes, New York, and Taken: Hundreds of immigrants will get to resubmit DACA renewals originally rejected as "late" It's the Trump administration's biggest reversal on immigration policy to date. Updated by Dara Lind | dara@vox.com | Nov 16, 2017, 11:43am EST Y TWEET SHARE 🚨 IMPORTANT DACA SHARE Many immigrants who did everything right to reapply for one last round of protection under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program — but missed the deadline due to circumstances beyond their control — are going to get another chance after reporting by Vox and others about how unfairly the administration enforced the deadline. The Trump administration initially claimed that 4,000 immigrants missed the October 5 deadline to apply for one last two-year extension of protections under the DACA program, which the administration announced in September would be shut down over the next six months (with an official end date of March 5, 2018). But reporting in recent days by Vox and the New York Times showed that an untold number of those applications had been mailed well in advance of the deadline — and had been delayed due to a mysterious weeks-long Postal Service slowdown, or had been dropped in a US Citizenship and Immigration Services mailbox on October 5 but not picked up by a courier service until the next day. On Wednesday night, the Department of Homeland Security announced that those DACA recipients will be allowed to reapply for renewal. The Trump administration isn’t guaranteeing that these applications will be approved. But it’s at least agreeing to consider applications it had previously rejected out of hand. That could mean another two years of protection from deportation for hundreds, maybe even thousands, of immigrants. And it marks the first major reversal on immigration policy from an administration that has generally taken pride in its hardline stance. USCIS will contact some immigrants who were affected — but others will have to contact the government themselves

Listen, "If A dog will bring a bone, he'll carry one.” It sounds like gibberish, but it's the truth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you have a homegirl running around telling all of her other homegirl's business, best believe your business is out in these streets as well. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If she is always bringing gossip to you about what her coworkers said or how person XYZ said this about you, she's reporting back to them with what you say and during both instances she is adding her two cents. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The real concern isn't why these people are talking about you, but why are they comfortable enough to talk negatively about you in front of your friend.

College, Confidence, and Crime: Campus Security Guard Accidentally Shoots Himself and Tells Police lt Was a Black Man in a Hoodie and "Short Afro" @balleralert Campus Security Guard Accidentally Shoots Himself and Tells Police It Was a Black Man in a Hoodie and “Short Afro” – blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tuesday night, Minnesota College was placed on locked down after a security guard said he was shot and assaulted by a black man with a “short Afro, wearing a hoodie. The guard’s claim prompted a lockdown of 1,800 students and summoned 55 police officers, a state patrol helicopter and four K-9 units. Problem is, there was no assailant. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The following day, BrentAhlers allegedly admitted he hadn’t been assaulted by a black man, but that he accidently shot himself in the shoulder on the St. Catherine University campus in St. Paul, Minn. According to reports, Ahlers was not even permitted to carry a gun. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to the NY Daily News, while officials refused to take the guard’s report lightly, their reservations about Ahler’s kept them from releasing a description of the alleged perpetrator. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I think early on, some of the facts of this case weren’t adding up for us,” St. Paul Police Sgt said in a press conference. “We didn’t have the confidence in the description to act on it.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ahlers has been charged with falsely reporting a crime, which is a misdemeanor. He told officials that he was simply worried about losing his job, as the school doesn’t allow its guards to carry a weapon. However, the school relieved Ahler’s of his duties, revealing it “strongly condemns racial discrimination, racial stereotyping, and racial profiling of any kind.”
