This is an illustrated guide I made as part of my co-admining work at The Middle Eastern Feminist on Facebook! It will be published there shortly. The technique that is displayed here is a genuine one used in psychology - I forgot the name and couldn’t find it again so if you know about it, feel free to tell me!Some could say: “Yes but you can use that technique for instances of harassment other than Islamophobic attacks!”, and my reply is: Sure! Please do so, it also works for other “types” of harassment of a lone person in a public space!! However I’m focusing on protecting Muslims here, as they have been very specific targets lately, and as a French Middle Eastern woman, I wanted to try and do something to raise awareness on how to help when such things happen before our eyes - that way one cannot say they “didn’t know what to do”! I’d like to insist on two things: 1) Do not, in any way, interact with the attacker. You must absolutely ignore them and focus entirely on the person being attacked! 2) Please make sure to always respect the wishes of the person you’re helping: whether they want you to leave quickly afterwards, or not! If you’re in a hurry escort them to a place where someone else can take over - call one of their friends, or one of yours, of if they want to, the police. It all depends on how they feel! For my fellow French-speakers: I will translate it in French and post it on my page as soon as I can :)Please don’t hesitate to share this guide as it could push a lot of people to overcome bystander syndrome!!Lots of love and stay safe! PS: I you repost this cartoon of mine on twitter or instagram, please add me in the post so I can see it, with @itsmaeril :) An important reminder today, and every day.

The film tells the story of a princess who sets off on an epic journey alongside a rugged mountain man, his loyal pet reindeer, and a hapless snowman to find her estranged sister, whose icy powers have inadvertently trapped the kingdom Show more Top comments Stefan Molyneux via Google+ 1 month ago I love this. You totally kinda ruined frozen for me but i really enjoyed this a lot more than the actual movie. And you really got me thinking about a lot. Being an attractive young woman, I understand what is like to be seen as nothing more than a sex doll. I also know what it is like to use that to my "advantage" to "get over" the system. HELL I even know what it is to suffer mental illness, only to be told bu my parents to ignore it. HOWEVER, despite all of this I feel like I have learned more lessons from everything that has happened in my life. Thank you so much for posting this. Honestly I want to make a difference in the world, and I looked to people like you to sort of guide me in the right direction. Being Alone, Life, and Love: To the undocumented immigrant contemplating suicide, I've been in your shoes. I remember wanting to take my life at T/ because l felt alone, scared & my life was filled with uncertainty. Here l am 9 years later at 26. You deserve to dream but most importantly you deserve to live. Iván Ceja You deserve to live Repost @IvanCejatv: “*With everything going on and what some of you that I’ve checked in with have expressed, I felt the need to repost this message I shared a while back. I feel the weight of everything going on and I just want you to know that you are so powerful and so worthy. That’s why the opposition does so much to bring you down, but it is my hope that you will continue to rise up even if it’s one day at a time. Do so at your own pace. Only you know what you need and I hope you find it, but also know that we have each other and there’s nothing wrong with asking for help. - . . “There are times when I still feel alone, scared and my life is still filled with uncertainty. Sometimes it feels like it hasn’t gotten any better truth be told, but I am stronger today and I’m better able to tackle the obstacles that come with being undocumented in the U.S. . . It can feel like a never ending cycle of having to validate your humanity because being human isn’t enough for some people. But still you will rise above and even higher when you realize that legislation that never passes and the headlines that call you illegal do not define you. . . You might feel alone, but I want you to know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. You might be a lot of other things, but not alone. I know undocumented immigrants from across the country - literally every state - that want to be your friend. Let me know and I will introduce you to them. . . If you are still reading this, then chances are that you can relate. Perhaps you are not as misunderstood as you thought. Nonetheless, I believe you matter and the fact that you have made it this far just goes to show that you are stronger than you give yourself credit for. . .
