Club, Dad, and Family: This is my all-time best "burn" story, and the best part is that it was my Dad that delivered the punch. Here goes: First, some background: My family is from South Carolina. My dad was an anesthesiologist and we were on vacation in NYC. We were walking through Times Square and got a few of those handout/pamphlet things about the improv comedy clubs in the area. We decided to try one out that was nearby while we had a few hours to kill before a show. So, we go over to this hole-in-the-wall comedy club and have a couple of drinks. The room wasn't very big, with a small stage at the front and maybe 10-12 tables with seating for 40-50 people. There might have been 25 or so people on this night, with a large group of sailors that I assume were on leave. es onto the stage and is really bombing. Nobody is really laughing, and the guy is just resorting to worse material and calling out people in the audience to get some laughs. My Dad thought this was pretty funny, so he's laughing the whole time, and is literally the only person in the room laughing. It was a little awkward, but he has a funny sense of humor, so we weren't surprised. Well, it didn't take long for the comedian to notice he was the only one laughing took a pause and let him laugh at his last joke and stopped to So, this last comedian com attention at my Dad. direct ask him, "What do you do for a living, sir?" As my Dad was trying to respond that he was an anesthesiologist, he just got the first part of the word out, and the comedian interrupted him and said, "Wait, what, you're an asshole?!" And, in probably his finest moment of witty repartee, he snapped back and said, "No, just like you, I put people to sleep for a living!" BOOM, the room clapping and laughing. The poor comedian just walked off the stage without saying another word. It was a proud moment for my Dad, exploded and everybody was on their feet no doubt. Apparently, Children, and Clothes: Roxanne's Post LIRE nepry Yesterday at 4:19 PM The swamp is not only in DC I see. Schedules for students should not be Ok. So I just received a message on my phone about the children not being able to receive their schedules until all school fees are paid. So let me get this straight if the kids do not receive their schedules where exactly are they supposed to gather when school starts? The auditorium perhaps. And when did school fees become more important than the child's education? Our kids fees have always been paid within 30 days of the time school starts. And if the fees aren't paid before school starts will they just gather in the auditorium and twiddle their thumbs without a teacher to teach them and give our kids a chance at achieving an education as other American held hostage from parents who pay their taxes so their kids can get a decent education. I don't care if they gave a ten year advance on fees being paid the bottom line is my point is not everyone is in the financial graph to pay fees on demand doesn't mean they will not be paid as I stated we have always paid ours and I have also adopted a class with a hundred dollar Roxanne's Post because Im not comtortable with my grandchildren being used as panhandlers for a system that I see becoming more and more liberal. This ladies and gentlemen is a lack of common sense regarding this request from the school system. This is something the right media such as Fox News might be interested in. To see this sleepy little town who is more concerned with Friday night football than seating students who may come from poor, challenged homes where single parents are doing everything within their power and with the help of God to make it day to day. Shame on you s into the boat with the rest of the unhinged citizens of our great nation. Our President is doing all he can to bring common sense back to our great nation. Please let's be a light unto darkness and put the childrens education needs first. I guarantee you more parents pay fees within a sufficient time than not. And please don't make it any harder on parents who are already dealing with financial pressure. donation. But don't demand that childrens schedules are basically for sale now instead of using common sense as was stated in my post. As I can clearly see there is a huge lack of common sense or understanding for the forgotten man and tho... See More Board for falling citizens? And if a member of the idolized football team doesn't pay theirs right away will they be kept off the field until paid? I think not my friends. When I came here one reason I came was because I heard the schools were top notch. Well I say now the notch is lowering it's standards. What about children whose parents are struggling paycheck to paycheck and can barely cover the costs of school clothes and school supplies with a list supplied by the school system. Then within thirty days of school starting they hit you with picture day and a fundraiser drive which for the past two years I have just discarded in the trash because Im not comfortable with my grandchildren 17h Like Reply Like Comment D 38 Write a comment...
