Ludum Dare: Ludum Dare ON NOW: Ludum Dare 45 Theme Voting Untitled Ludum Dare 45 o6 Games Obscure tech stack ideas by garlic (@garlic), published 2 hours ago If you're still not sure what to use for this year's Ludum Dare, let me share some game dev tech tips with you 1. Write the game in PHP so the whole site has to refresh over and over to update the game world. Bonus points if you use WordPress or anything that's totally not meant to be used for any kind of game development. 2. Make your game in a language you've never used before because there's no more effective way to learn a new language than under the pressure of a deadline. My suggestions are: Go, Rust or good old x86 Assembly 3. Don't catch any exceptions, so when people play your platformer, they're motivated not to fall off as not to get an OutOfBoundsException that crashes the whole game. 4. Linux users often face the harsh reality of a number of their favorite games not being available on Linux, so to bring a little fairness to the world, export your game for Linux only 5. Include a deliberate memory leak that slowly fills up the player's RAM until the game runs out of memory and crashes. This is so your players don't spend too much time playing your game and go outside. 6. Don't include common libraries so players have to download that one specific version of NET because the latest stable release just won't do. 7. Make an actual Unity game and then export it as a server build so all the players see is just the debug console output. It's kinda like a book -they'll use their imagination. you're welcome 18 Ludum Dare
