That’s why the qualifier of developed is so important. We’re similar enough to developed countries that a comparison makes sense, and different enough in our relationship to guns that they’re a likely candidate for the determining variable.

And really? You don’t give a shit about it? So I take it you don’t believe we need guns for revolution? If you do that’s LARPing based on historical conditions that are no longer reality.

Who are you to determine whether or not the need for revolution is a reality or that will never be one? To say nothing of the fact that that is only one of several reasons to own a gun.

The only one dodging anything is you, pushing for fewer guns despite the fact that America has a remarkably low rate of gun violence when you compare it to the rate of gun ownership. There are 350 million guns in the United States. If this was really some kind of epidemic, we would be seeing deaths by the thousands on a daily basis. Yet all we have are a handful of highly publicized incidents. And any solution for keeping schools safer that isn’t “ban guns” is immediately shot down by these “March for our lives” kids, as evidenced by all the whining that went down when someone suggested clear backpacks or metal detectors. They don’t want a discussion of various “solutions”, there’s only one solution they’re looking for.

>The unique psychological impact of fearing the next school shooting when you’re trying to learn is a big issue. What you really mean when you say “developed” is an arbitrary list of countries, that are mostly rich, white, and/or European. The fact that you only want to look at a particular set of countries is because if you look at the whole world, you are forced to acknowledge that a particular country’s homicide rate is driven by many factors other than guns, and your narrative falls apart.

You are statistically more likely to be struck by lightning that killed in a mass shooting. It’s an irrational fear.

The March for our Lives was organized by Everytown and backed by people as big as Oprah.
