Food, Juvenile, and Memes: Man Arrested For Stealing $1.2 Million In Fajitas @balleralert Man Arrested For Stealing $1.2 Million In Fajitas - blogged by @miss_binky ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A Texas man is facing felony charges of first degree theft after being accused of stealing over $1.2 million in fajitas. Gilberto Escamilla was responsible for ordering food for the Cameron County Juvenile Justice Department in Bronwsville, and it turns out he was ordering a little "extra" for himself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Escamilla had taken a day off for a medical appointment last week, when the kitchen received a call about their expected 800-pound fajita delivery. The woman who answered the call insisted that the food service driver was mistaken, because the facility doesn't even serve fajitas. However, the driver informed her that he has been delivering fajitas to that location for over nine years. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The next day, Escamilla was confronted about the delivery, and admitted that he had been stealing fajitas from the company for years. He was immediately terminated, and subsequently arrested after a search warrant turned up packets of fajitas in his home refrigerator. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to District Attorney, Luis V. Saenz, Escamilla had been selling the fajitas on the side. "He would literally, on the day he ordered them, deliver them to customers he had already lined up. We’ve been able to uncover two of his purchasers, and they are cooperating with the investigation." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After more investigating, including going through past purchase orders and invoices, the DA's office determined that over the years Escamilla was able to steal $1,251,578 worth of fajitas.

Bad, Bill Cosby, and Donald Trump: Wagatwe Sara Wanjuki 3 hrs I won't say "Me, too." Partially because most of you know that' already. But mostly because we shouldn't have to "out" ourselves as survivors Because men have *always* seen the gendered violence happening around them (and/or being perpetrated by them)-they just haven't done anything about it. Because it shouldn't matter how many women, femmes, and gender neutral & non- conforming folk speak their truths. Post by @wagatwe. This is not to say that MeToo is a bad thing at all; just that, once again, the burden falls on the oppressed group (people who have been assaulted-harassed) to appeal to the moral sense of their oppressors. Also, to clarify, the emphasis on men in this post is not meant to imply that men cannot be raped or assaulted. Here’s a longer quote I really liked about all this: “Before Weinstein’s alleged sexual misconduct, it was Donald Trump’s. Before Trump, there was Bill Cosby and his half-century of woman accusers. Woody Allen, though determinedly sticking around in Hollywood, has been publicly accused by his own daughter of sexual abuse on a number of occasions. There are just no excuses anymore. We all know that sexual misconduct is a widespread epidemic in our world. So, why are we still asking women and other survivors to rip open their traumas to prove to us there is a problem we already know exists? And when will the problem finally be laid at the feet of those responsible to solve, instead of burdening survivors who have already endured so much?” It is not our responsibility to rip open our wounds and expose our trauma in a solidarity ritual just so you can finally acknowledge there is a problem with men’s violence toward women. We have been screaming into a void for centuries; I’m fairly certain one more round of begging isn’t going to convince you the problem exists if you haven’t already accepted it. For those people who have already used the MeToo hashtag to create some solidarity around their expeirences, or to heal some of their unacknowledged trauma: it is absolutely your right to do that. But just once I would like to see us NOT asking for women, or other oppressed people, to solve a problem that disproportionately affects us. We have already been through enough — we cannot solve your sickness of sexual violence too.” - Matilda Dixon-Smith @matildadixonsmith, “Will We Ever Stop Asking Women And Survivors To Fix Rape Culture?”

Anaconda, Dad, and Family: 2-Year-Old Denied Life-Saving Kidney Transplant Because of Dad's Probation Violation @balleralert 2-Year-Old Denied Life-Saving Kidney Transplant Because of Dad’s Probation Violation – blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A life-saving procedure has been delayed for a 2-year-old boy, who was born prematurely without functioning kidneys, because his dad violated his probation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to reports, a kidney transplant was scheduled for Oct. 3, just days after the child’s father, who was a 100 percent perfect match for his son, was arrested for violating his probation. Anthony Dickerson was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Prior to his release, Emory Hospital, where the scheduled surgery was set to take place, sent a letter to Gwinnett County jail, saying, “Mr. Dickerson is currently in custody for a parole violation. If Mr. Dickerson could be escorted to Emory for blood work and a pre-operative appointment tomorrow, September 29, we will be able to continue with the scheduled surgery.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, once Dickerson was released, that’s when things took a turn for the worse. The hospital delayed the procedure, saying they needed to make sure Dickerson was complying with the terms of his parole for the next three months before they could proceed with the transplant. However, the family believes that the violation shouldn’t delay the process if the donor is healthy and clean, as it has become more urgent after AJ, the 2-year-old, suffered a stroke. But, his dad will not be re-evaluated by the hospital until January 2018 “after the receipt of his completed documentation.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “It’s about my son,” AJ’s mother said. “He’s been through a lot. It’s like we’ve been waiting on this. And Dad making a mistake shouldn’t affect what he wants to do with our son,” adding that January may be too late for her young son. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now, the couple says their only option is to get on the wait list for kidney transplants.

Bad, Bad Boys, and Dating: Let's Talk: How Old Is Too Old To Be Dating a Drug Dealer or Gangster? @balleralert Let's Talk: How Old Is Too Old To Be Dating a Drug Dealer or Gangster? - blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As women, we all go through stages in our lives where we date different “types” of men, from the bad boys to momma’s boys to broke boys and gangsters. But there comes a time where you have to give up a certain type of lifestyle to progress in the real world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As a teen, dealing with a bad boy-drug dealer is fun and adventurous. Your man has money to blow; you’re able to live lavishly, flaunting designer bags and shoes, while your other teenaged friends work for their money. However, living life on the edge, without a care in the world is only fun while it lasts. As you get older, you realize that there is so much more to live for, and the dangers of dealing with a drug dealer or gangster isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. What happens when you get caught in the crossfire of a dispute over an exchange? What happens when you get shot in retaliation over territory or just to send a message? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As women, we must be more aware of the red flags in a relationship. Dating drug dealers and gangsters should never be acceptable, because when they assume the risks, you become collateral damage. As women, we should set a higher standard on the type of men we date, because we deserve that much. A man should want to be better for you, rather than drag you into his illegitimate lifestyle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For instance, Falicia Blakely. She let her boyfriend convince her to start "hitting licks," now she is sitting in jail and her son is without a mother. Alice Jones was sentenced to 24 years in jail for a drug conspiracy because of a man she was involved with. There have been stories about young women who have had bright futures, and lost it all or their lives, because of the man they chose to deal with. When you reach a certain point in your life, you have to think your age. The drug dealer lifestyle is not only dangerous but you don’t want to live your life with regrets. Life is too short and I’m sure you want more from your life. Think and make sure you are living responsibly!
