You have to recover a long time lost manuscript held by a famous necromancer. Your journey begins in a forest. The left of you is a mountain with a large boulder blocking it's entrance, in front of you is an ancient graveyard. Some of the greatest heroes of the realm rest there I would like to investigate the grave- yard of it looks chill or haunted. Not strong enough to push that boulder As you enter the graveyard you notice old tombstones crumbling, scribed in language too ancient to be known by any living creature. While searching around you find a crypt, the front door has been knocked open, you can hear a soft gust of wind coming from inside. I copy the ancient text, best as possible. I use 'produce flame' when I enter the crypt. As you go in the light from your spell fills the room, you notice the coffins that adorn the walls and a spiral staircase that leads further down, at the bottom of it lies a large room, broken pillars, and a statue of Sild, the Warlock. A very powerful wizard from centuries past. Further away, with barely any light around it, you see a creature in a black robe facing away, as it ignores you on purpouse. There's a corpse on an alter in front of it, and it's hands deep inside it As I enter the room I go "excuuuuuse me, but it's not nice to sacrifice people" en hold my flame ready to attack if he would attack me... The creature in black turns annoyed by your interference, you see a beetle crawl out of it's eye socket, it's deformed face makes your stomach sick, as you think that eating all those fries before entering a graveyard was a bad idea. A purple light starts forming as he moves his hands together With a quick look around you notice a large floating orb 3 meters above the creature's head. You remember the old legend of Sild's orb, which he used teleport anywhere in the world. Nasty! God damn it those fries! I shoot my flame to the orb so the bug guy can't escape. And pull out my scimitar ready to attack As your flame hits, the orb shatters into what seems to be glass spikes, flying everywhere, further damaging the room. Some hit the creature, tearing his black robes just to reveal pieces of rotting flesh. The stench of death takes over the room, you can't hold those fries anymore, as you make an effort to not puke onto your brand new heels -and you hear your own voice in your head WHY WOULD YOU GO INTO A GRAVEYARD USING HEELS WOMAN ? As you get distracted, the creature fires his spell, you quickly block it with your scimitar, but it flies away from your hand. You are disarmed and the creature starts running in your direction "I DON'T I WANTED SOMETHING DIFFERENT THEN THE USUAL SNEAKERS as I replied to my own question. I take them of hold them as a weapon ready to defend myself against the ugly bug dude. And try to figure out if I can back to my scimitar. As you dual-wield your brand new puke-free heels you notice a two fast moving shadows moving behind the creature. Desperation starts to hit as you are outnumbered and your scimitar is nowhere to be seen, suddenly the shadows jump onto the creatures head and start attacking him. IT'S YOUR FAMILIARS, your thank yourself for installing that catdoor years ago. The creature loses balance just as it reaches you, slipping and faceplanting your puddle fries and cola that rested on the floor. You plunge it's head with both heels. It explodes and the creature slowly starts turning into ashes... You give a well deserved pet to them. The comforting purring sounds fills the room, you feel safe now. One of your familiars starts digging into the ash pile, as he found something of value there. IT'S A FORTUNE COOKIE! I go like "Oooh cookie!" I break it open and eat the cookie while I read. And also keep petting them, like a good rub under the chin. kaylapocalypse:  ok  so i know what you’re thinking “oh i remember that scene i don’t need to click on the video to recall it”. But you should. Like… if you’re anywhere near your mid-twenties, chances are that you watched shrek (1) when you were a kid and maybe a few times again in your late teens, but your memory absolutely doesn’t do it justice. The comedic timing through this whole movie is insane. Also, the fact that the animation style is aging literally just adds to the hilarity instead of poorly dating it. The nuance of every gesture is so well done and specific.  I am literally convinced that this movie is a masterpiece and that will be historically relevant maybe 100 years from now as a perfect time capsule of our culture. This scene in particular illustrates it especially well; particularly for being only like 1 minute long. Highlights/Breakdown The timing in the way Robin says savior and the way he says beast.  the character solidifying disregard and disrespect of “Please! Monster!” Fiona’s sheer brute strength when she pokes him in the shoulder so hard it spins him around–strength that he disregards which is why hes surprised as hell when he gets his ass beat Just the entire french accent that isn’t even a good french accent at all. The accordion man in the tree, the prop bushes. that one of the prop bushes falls down to reveal that its a wood cut-out subtly in the background  Shrek and fiona watching with horror as he begins his song. Donkey never cracking his excited smile, fully immersed in the Lore™; which is actually part of a longer running joke through the film which is that occasionally when certain characters do things would be reacted to poorly irl, the surrounding characters react like you would if you saw that irl not like characters in a story. Like instead of getting drawn into the lore of their circumstances they just stand there, staring like “yikesssss” shrek’s exhaustion and impatience when the song goes into the “saucy little maid” bit.  “what hes basically saying is he likes to get paid.”  the chaos of that statement. combined with shrek and fiona having a eye contact conversation above the performance, exchanging “wtf” gestures.  When the song escalates into a dance fight, Shrek’s exhaustion turns into general mounting amusement like “wow is this really turning into a dance fight. wow hes really snapping in unison” which is additionally apart of the above long running joke Fiona interrupting robin with a kick. the fuckin sound his head makes when it hits the rock.  The fight after isn’t as dynamic timing wise, just a classic animated fight scene but that song though. *kisses fingers like a chef* Watching this does give me an appreciation for 2D animation though because say what you will but Cinderella has aged a lot better than Shrek in terms of visual quality.With 2D you get fairly consistent quality. demolitonlover: Blunt Magazine, February 2009 (x x) Additional record review which was not scanned and received 8 out of 10:When guitarist for New Jersey pretty boys My Chemical Romance, Frank Iero, gets some time away from the band, he likes to relax by getting down in his basement with his other band and screaming till the veins pop out in his forehead. He’s been doing this for the past few years, making recordings with some friends under the banner, LeATHERMOUTH. XO, the full-length debut by the side-project, is brutal hardcore with raw, savage production (it really was recorded in Iero’s basement) and lyrics that are matched for passion and aggression by the guttural delivery. There’s no pop hooks, no emo choruses - nothing to cry over, but plenty to get you fired up. While on one hand it’s sure to attract a lot of curious My Chem fans, mayn of whom are sure to either disappointed or downright frightened, this connection mean it’s also liable to miss its target market slightly due to the fact that regular fans of this type of raging hardcore are sure to be put off by Iero’s day job. Too bad for the snobs who think that way - they’re missing out big time. : LEATHERMOUTH BLUNT # 77 TO BE QUITE FRANK a singer and maybe we'll do a record. So they had a friend they tried out on vocals but it didn't work out because he didn't write any lyrics. So they were just like, "We're probably gonna scrap the band. I was like There's no way you can kill this band!' Iasked them to have one practice with me singing. I convinced them to book a practice studio on a weekend and I wrote a few lyrics and we had a practice and that was it." For a long time LeATHERMOUTH was a studio-only project, recording in lero's basement during times when he wasn't touring the world with The Black Parade. "We recorded everything with me and Rob (Hughes) and couple of other guys. Now it's like two years later and it's just me Rob left. The rest of guys that started the band, a couple went off and started another band, "The world is full of people that are hiding from thestuff that's going on in the world today.I wanted to attack these things head-on."-Frank lero that broke up, some people got married, moved away, whatever. So when we wanted to tour, we recruited James DeWees (Get Up Kids, Reggie & The Full Effect) to play drums, my friend John Maguire to play bass and my other friend, Eddie Auletta, to play guitar." Signed to indie godhead Epitaph/Shock, LeATHER MOUTH will release their debut full-length, XO, this January. Subscribing to an unwavering musical aes thetic of relentless, heavy hardcore punk, XO's lyrical tirades are directed towards everyone from the cops to drug dealers to the government to school bullies. With very little melodic ambition to speak of, lero screams like a man literally bursting with things to say. On the touring side of things, the band completed a mini US tour in September with Reggie & The Full Effect, followed in December by four dates support- ing Mindless Self Indulgence "That was a thing where convenience came into play," lero says of the brief bouts of touring. "My Chem was on tour, so of course my good friend James DeWees was on tour with us, he plays keyboards with My Chem. Formed in New Jersey in 2007 by some friends of lero, including Rob Hughes, LeATHERMOUTH could just as easily have never happened. To hear lero explain the whole story, one starts to understand how much his own personal passion and drive brought the thing to life. Clearly,he needed this outlet "It was actually right before [My Chemical Ro- mance] recorded The Black Parade," he begins. "I was back home, we had taken some time off, and a couple of my friends were thinking of starting a new band. "I remember it like it was yesterday. It was right before we were going to see a movie; we were in the parking lot of the movies and we all crowded into their Volkswagen. They played me this 3 song demo, there were no vocals or anything like that, just simple verse- chorus punk rock, and I was like, Wow, how can I be involved with this band? "I have my record label, Skeleton Crew that Irun with a few friends so I told these guys they should find was going to do a Reggie & The Full Effect tour, so we decided that I'd play in Reggie with him and we'd both do LeATHERMOUTH "We had done a few shows here and there but it never felt real until we did the Reggie & The Full Effect tour. It actually felt like the band was finally doing things after two years of just recording in my basement. All these emotions started to come out and the shows just got better every day. By the time we were like, 'This is turning into something incred- ible,' the tour was over. We were like, "We need to lero is concerned book something else.' But then life comes in and you have to do certain things." These "certain things" for lero include his duties with My Chemical Romance, which will almost certainly ensure that LeATHERMOUTH gigs are fewer and farther between in 2009. It remains to be seen whether the thrashy hardcore sound of LeATHERMOUTH will influence lero's con- tribution to the new MCR album. Which is: ever noticed how all art about “the evils of the modern world” focuses on smartphones and fat people? I’d be the first to speak up and say there are plenty of things wrong with modern industrialized society. Like, oh, I don’t know, climate change. Cops murdering with impunity. Species going extinct. The way the US government has practically been taken hostage by corporate interests. An emphasis on throwing away and replacing rather than repairing. Schools teaching to the test and crushing creative thinking. Mass unemployment and poverty. Fox “News”. I can think of ten dozen more, and smartphones and fat people aren’t even close to making the list. If we lived in a world where our biggest “problems” were people being fat and people having computers in their pockets, we’d be in damn near utopia. So why do so-called “cutting-edge”, “countercultural” artists insist on repeating those two images over and over again? We live in the fucking future. I read an article about a young girl who was born with her heart outside of her rib cage. Not only has she survived to seven or nine years old, they are going to perform surgery to put everything where it should be so she can have a long life. I was visiting my family and used FaceTime do my niece could meet Jim, whom she had never met. And she got to see all my animals. How cool is that? We can PRINT people new arms and legs. People far away from cities and universities can take classes online and get an education. The Internet has revolutionized how we use libraries and how we manage the information in them (not made it obsolete). I can get book two in a series downloaded to my e-reader at 2am so I can continue my literary journey without waking my spouse or having a panic attack about how the story ends. My phone helps me control my OCD because o can TELL it to set a timer so I Am forced to stop my task. It has apps to help with panic attacks and executive function. It’s made my life so much better and more manageable as someone with autism trying to function in the world. My life is so much better with my smart phone than before I had a mobile phone at all, in high school and college. I can’t think of how helpful it would have been in high school. I’m so sick of this pseudo-Luddite tsk tsk poo poo thing that is super popular right now. We have fucking cars that drive themselves. My prescriptions tell ME when they need to be refilled. But you are worried about how people use their phones to communicate with people they WANT to talk to instead of making uncomfortable small talk with your shitty face.
