African American women would be presented the same opportunities as their white counterparts. Rejection would be based on qualifications rather than race. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Unfortunately, this world is far from perfect, however, there are people, more specifically women, who have dedicated their time, money and education to make a positive change. They’ve used their experiences and their encounters with injustices to fight and-or create more opportunities for their children and their children’s children, in an effort to make the world a better place. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ They've put our pain and problems on their backs and created space for change, new opportunities for our brothers and sisters to excel and succeed in a world that is designed against us. She walked into our lives in 2008 and has shown the world the true meaning of love, dedication, family, education, and healthy living. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ No matter the occasion or event, our First Lady was sure to take over with her elegant and classy sense of style. She was featured in Essence Magazine as one of the ‘World’s Most Inspiring Women’ and appeared on the cover of Vogue and made the Vanity Fair best-dressed list two years in a row. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As our First Lady of the United States, she was not afraid to address the issues at stake. He has some in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and he just recently opened one in Miami. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, he has now decided to expand. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On Monday, Gokce had the grand opening of the newest restaurant to be added to the food chain in the United States, and it’s in none other than midtown Manhattan. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The New York establishment is located in the former China Grill in the CBS Black Rock building at 60 W. 53rd Street. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The new location is Gokce’s thirteenth restaurant and he has plans to bring one to London if this one does well. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Will you be making a visit?

Children, Detroit, and Donald Trump: Father Of Two Deported To Mexico After 30 Years In The States @balleralert Father Of Two Deported To Mexico After 30 Years In The States – blogged by @MsJennyb (pic via NIRAJ WARIKOO) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On Monday, 39-year-old Jorge Garcia kissed his wife and kids goodbye, just before being deported from metro Detroit to Mexico. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to Detroit Free Press, 30 years after traveling to the United States with an undocumented family member at the age of 10, Garcia was sent back to his home country, leaving his wife and two children, who are all citizens of the U.S. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Garcia had been facing deportation since 2009, facing an order of removal from immigration courts. However, Obama’s administration allowed stays of removal, which kept Garcia in the states. But, with Donald Trump’s racist take on immigration, which has fueled his intense crackdown on illegal immigrants, Garcia’s time in the states was cut short. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Despite his good standing with the law, he has been ordered to Mexico. ICE agents escorted the 39-year-old through the airport and allowed him to say goodbye to his wife and children. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to the publication, prior to his deportation, he asked the agents if he could stay until the new DACA bill passed, as it may expand the age range for qualification (Garcia is too old to qualify), but the organization refused. He was ordered to leave by Jan. 15, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Family, Food, and Friends: lt's Been Eight Years Since The Massive Earthquake in Haiti And Millions Are Still Suffering @balleralert hotoGrid It’s Been Eight Years Since The Massive Earthquake in Haiti And Millions Are Still Suffering - Blogged by: @RaquelHarrisTV ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On this day, eight years ago, a severe earthquake nearly destroyed Haiti. Almost 316,000 lives were taken and more than 1.5 million have had to relocate. According to a new report from the United Nations, there are currently 2.5 million Haitians who are still suffering from the aftermath. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The 2010 Haiti earthquake was not just a simple natural disaster. Since then the people of Haiti have struggled with continuous famine and are forced to live in impoverishment. They’ve also been exposed to the sometimes fatal cholera epidemic. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Haitians continue to suffer years after the earthquake,” U.N. Humanitarian Coordinator Mourad Wahba, who has worked in the country for two years, told The WorldPost. “People lost their friends and family. I see the pain in their faces when they talk about it now. It’s a very long healing process.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to reports, over 300,000 Haitians were harmed back in 2010, and the earthquake left 3.3 million with a lack of food supply. More than 80 percent of public housing was destroyed, hundreds became homeless and were forced to live in “tent cities.” School and government buildings were ruined, as well as farmland, decimated crops and irrigation canals. Haiti was once known for its strong agriculture, for which the country relied on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “There are still about 55,000 people in camps and makeshift camps,” noted Wahba. “Many are still living in unsanitary conditions due to displacement caused by the earthquake. We have a very long way to go.”

According to reports, Broadcast journalist usually tread lightly on topics such as racism, as it can be seen differently to different people. But, Lemon, as well as Anderson Cooper, who doubled down on the declaration, used the CNN platform to let Americans know that “We told you so.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The powerful statement by Lemon, propelled a Trumpisracist hashtag on Twitter. While many Americans used the tag to denounce Trump’s racist remarks, Trump supporters and Twitter bots, used the hashtag to defend the Celebrity-in-Chief. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Although Trump has denied making comments that have reportedly been blown out of proportion by the media, lawmakers who were in attendance did not deny the “shithole” remark. In fact, some of Trump’s Fox News friends defended the statement, questing the need for immigration if the countries that immigrants are leaving aren’t “shithole” countries. What are your thoughts?
