It may be hard, but you have to explain to them that you want to be happy and they aren't making you happy for *insert reason here*. But just because you don't hang out with them doesn't mean that you have to cut off all ties from them. 2.) don't look or listen to things that make you unhappy. When I self harmed, I would listen to songs about suicide+ look up pictures of people's self harm marks as a way to trigger myself into hurting myself. sOOO, start listening to nicer music, music with happiness in it. Or don't watch any videos-see any pictures that may trigger you. Look up cute photos or watch a nice movie. 3.) distract yourself! Join a club at school. Start painting! Do something that you enjoy doing that makes you happy! 4.) surround yourself with happy people. Don't be with unhappy people all the time and don't be all alone. The thing is, if you hang out with depressed people ALL THE TIME, you will become depressed. It's so much better to hang out with different people! 5.) self care!! Clean your room, or take a nice long bath! Clean yourself and your surroundings! Clean body can lead to a clean mind. 6.) become more active! Don't stay inside all day! You can call up a friend or go on a small jog! Walking around outside has been proven to help clear your mind! 7.) take care of yourself, you are the only you! 8.) Take time to get better.
